Secret - build better cars & engineer them properly from the get go. Hence, less recalls and quality problems. This just in.

That is a whole lot easier said than done. How long has Detroit been trying to catch Toyota in reliability?
View on Reddit #73105271

Advanced-Injury-7186@reddit

I thought their secret was that their customers are such bad drivers that any accidents caused by manufacturing defects are easily covered up.

If Nissan hadn't gone all in on the jatco transmission they wouldn't have the reputation they do today. They're not bad cars

its-not-that-bad@reddit

Is the secret by selling so few cars?
View on Reddit #72327747

Training-Excuse-6555@reddit

Lmao that's brutal but honestly not wrong. Hard to have recalls when nobody's buying your CVT nightmares in the first place

Is the secret by selling old cars ? No doubt old able to keep high reliability.

Works for Toyota

Not lately it doesn’t, at least on the truck end of things. Assume though all those issues will eventually be ironed out and we’ve got “old” trucks in 2035 with the powertrains from now.
View on Reddit #72368656

Warm_Regard@reddit

It's insane to think about how Toyota might be dragging this generation's powertrain well into the 2040's

My thoughts exactly!

If Nissan can improve the quality of their core products while also maintaining they're competitive pricing. Sooner or later, it will pay off. However, the company has never been too consistent Either way, I think Infiniti is done for at this stage

LouDiamond@reddit

I had an Infiniti suv, it was..... ok I guess. ..... though not particularly comfortable I do have a liking to the Frontier line of trucks
View on Reddit #72328910

Huge_World4801@reddit

Which one? The FX and EX with the 3.7 or 3.5 were solid
View on Reddit #72405385

LouDiamond@reddit

2016 QX60, family wagon. we still have it, the kid just drives it now
View on Reddit #72407401

This_Elk_1460@reddit

I think the Frontiers look good but I can't stand how heavy the steering is

You honestly get used to it within less than a week. It's great if you've been clamoring for the old feel of a true hydraulic rack like half of this sub has.
View on Reddit #72374153

Windows-XP-Home-NEW@reddit

Most of r/cars does. I’ve noticed that it’s pretty much this subreddits favorite midsized truck. Mainly due to the superb, best in class value and good reliability
View on Reddit #72331481

LouDiamond@reddit

i dont really pay attention to exact specs, but it also 'feels' midsized compared to the tacoma and other traditional mid sized trucks
View on Reddit #72332680

velociraptorfarmer@reddit

It's the exact same size as the others. They're all about 73-76" wide, 72" tall, and 210-212" long (in crew cab short bed form). It's got an "older" style to it though, that might help it feel not as overbearing (bordering on gaudy) like the rest of the class though.

mt6606@reddit

It looks great. Shame we don't get it in Australia.

inaccurateTempedesc@reddit

Infinitis are pretty nice as used cars
View on Reddit #72333139

TheDrunkenMatador@reddit

It used to be that Infiniti offered the performance and tech of BMW, with a tradeoff of reduced interior quality for reduced price. Now they cost the same but with still Infiniti interiors
View on Reddit #72332268

Redeemed_Expert9694@reddit

It used to be a decent brand, now their lineup is a joke The QX50 and QX55 are worse than the Rogue The QX60 is worse than the Pathfinder The QX80 is worse than the Armada Seriously, I think the brand should just become a luxury trim for Nissan. Similar to Denali and GMC
View on Reddit #72329073

Lower_Kick268@reddit

If Infiniti can get some cool vehicles that aren't fleet cars they'll be fine. Keep the QX80, bring back the Skyline G cars, make the GTR have an Infiniti version, make a nicer midsize SUV, and they'll be fine

Don't know why this got downvoted but it makes sense to me

Nissan wishes they could go back to the 90s. Hell, I would love a 90s Nissan truck or a Maxima.
View on Reddit #72328872

takao-obi@reddit

Puh I remember my grandfathers euro Almera Diesel from 1995. grey outside and grey fabric seats inside with all grey plastic. 75HP Diesel without a turbo. Sounded like a tractor. It could propel the car forwards and backwards. Merging into traffic required a prayer.
View on Reddit #72337687

This_Elk_1460@reddit

I mean if Nissan went back to the '90s they would still be on the verge of going out of business but at least they were making good cars I guess

I’m gonna continue to sleep on them until they get rid of their god awful cvts. I already dislike cvts on how they behave, add in the spotty reliability of Nissans and is all just telling me that their bean counters have more say in their products than their engineers. Frankly, it doesn’t matter what industry or product you are taking about that is a sure recipe for poorly made products and you can see examples from Boeing to Panera.
View on Reddit #72341589

Lower_Kick268@reddit

They already dont have a CVT on half of their lineup, most of the non-sedans Nissan sells are real transmission vehicles. And even then they make a good CVT not, equal to if not better than what everyone else sells, for what its worth without the shitty gen 1 and gen 2 CVTs we wouldnt have modern and reliable CVT transmissions now
View on Reddit #72341660

SizeableFowl@reddit

Honestly there is only one style of CVT that I would consider reliable and it’s the planetary gearset hybrid system that Toyota and Ford use. You couldn’t pay me to seriously consider any other kind of CVT no matter what manufacturer offered it.
View on Reddit #72341964

Lower_Kick268@reddit

CVT are plenty reliable when they're not being driven like a 2009 Nissan Altima, as long as you're not beating the shit out of the car and change your fluid ever 30-50k miles it usually they wont have any issues lasting.

Hasn’t been my experience, but you do you.

That jatco unit doesn't like sudden power inputs. That "thump" I hear in the Lancer has me thinking this is probably not good for it.
