DIY T-Slot Rack Brackets
Posted by Darkn3ssVisibl3@reddit | overlanding | View on Reddit | 8 comments
Hey everyone,
I'd love to build my own truck rack with a bunch of 1020 and 1030 series aluminum extrusion I have, but I cannot find any adjustable angle or high angle brackets. Ideally I'd get just the brackets from BillieBars as that's exactly what I want - does anyone have a source for similar brackets?
I know I could just 90 degree the rack up from the bed. then 45 it over, but I think this looks much better.
Thanks in advance!

Definitely possible with companies like Send-Cut-Send, Xometry, and others out there now doing custom sheet metal and CNC work for relatively cheap. Flat stuff is pretty easy to draw out in free programs like Google Sketch-Up, but bends or CNC stuff would take a bit more time or know-how.
I built my whole rack at custom angles and such to clear my soft top and kinda match my cab. I work in CAD for a living so it wasn't too bad for me to build mine.

It's one thing to draw it up when you know how to use CAD, but it's another to lay dimes like that and integrate the product so well. Nice work.

I can't take credit for the welding here. I had a buddy with a TIG setup that could do SS stitch them together for me, but I tried to make it easy for him

Stainless can be a pain for sure. Either way nice work, I like how the bed rail is trimmed and goes back over the bracket. I'm considering making a bed platform from extruded.

I used OSHCut for a bunch of stuff I've done. The pricing isn't too bad. Like you, I work with CAD, but for people who don't, Fusion360 has a good sheet metal utility. I still like the one in Inventor more, but Fusion was pretty close.

Probably just CAD something up and have SendCutSend make it.
