Explain to me what a gun trust is like a I am a five-year old.: It's a legal document that allows multiple people to share and use certain types of firearms, like suppressors or short-barreled rifles. The trust is a legal entity that officially owns the guns in it, and the trust beneficiaries are legally permitted to continue using the firearms after the owner's death by transferring the firearms to them either using the ATF Form 5 or by abiding by any state or federal transfer laws. Firearms within the gun trust would also skip probate.

Can I use your gun trust with my Silencer Shop Account/Orders?: Yes, you can use our gun trust with your Silencer Shop account and orders. Simply upload a copy of your notarized gun trust to your Silencer Shop account, and they will use it for your future orders. Our gun trust is also more affordable compared to Silencer Shop's traditional gun trust.

Can you add a co-trustee in the future?: Yes, you can use the co-trustee amendment that is included with the gun trust to add a co-trustee in the future. Already approved tax stamps won't require added co-trustees to submit paperwork to the ATF. You would only need to send the newly added co-trustees information to the ATF when you are applying for a new tax stamp.

Can I purchase an NFA item before getting it notarized?: Yes you can. You would only need to have the gun trust notarized before you can apply for a tax stamp.

Can I transfer individually owned NFA firearms into a gun trust?: Yes, you can add individually owned NFA firearms into a gun trust. By transferring the firearms from yourself as an individual to the gun trust using ATF Form 4, you can enjoy the benefits of the trust while still possessing the firearms during the approval process. But note, that you would need to pay the ATF $200 again per NFA firearm to transfer the NFA firearm from yourself as an individual to your gun trust.

Can I make changes to the gun trust in the future? What does that process look like?: Yes, you can make changes to the gun trust in the future. The process for making changes to the gun trust is simple. You can print the appropriate amendment form, complete it, have it notarized, signed, and dated. Once notarized, the amendment is considered executed and effective. The gun trust amendments are included free with our gun trust paperwork.

Are there any additional fees to setup a NFA gun trust?: No, the charge of $29.98 for the gun trust is a one-time charge. Once you purchase the trust, there are no additional fees or recurring charges associated with it. However, when applying for a tax stamp there are costs associated with fingerprinting, passport photos, the ATF tax stamp itself. You may need to pay for a notary to notarize the trust, although there are many free notaries at banks, you can use a friend, co-worker, etc.

How fast are gun trusts approved by the ATF?: The gun trust isn't necessarily "pre-approved" by the ATF. The ATF will review your gun trust when you apply for a tax stamp. The current wait times for tax stamp approvals from the ATF are experiencing delays. While the ATF states a wait time of 45 days, the actual delivery of approved tax stamps can take 90+ days or more for a gun trust. We have seen our gun trusts approved in as little as 10 days in many cases.

The assignment sheet is typically used to transfer title 1 firearms into the gun trust or add title 2 firearms after the tax stamp approval.
