Get a camel. The ultimate overlanding vehicle.

Haha, I never thought about that before

I mean you're in Morocco right? A camel or two and you can go literally anywhere in northern Africa without much trouble or money. What's the cost of a camel vs a Hilux? Put a solar panel and some lights. Food, water and whatnot. Return to tradition.

I would say something as lightweight as possible. Maybe even short wheelbase models. When you could live without the extra space. Didn’t Morocco had many Pajeros? Or am I confusing that? That would be a cheap and solid choice.

Desert as in involving sand dunes? or dry desolate deserts with occasional flash floods? Generally you pick what you want and what works for you and your budget Sand and dust will usually call for covered or enclosed cargo space like an SUV. I do like a grenadier, but that's out of my price range. You should consider spare parts availability if you're in an area where it's difficult to get parts if in case it breaks down.

Thanks you so much for this clarification, my project car has to be appropriate in all roads but for your question I meant sand dunes like merzouka in Morocco

My understanding is that you will want high flotation tire size, low weight, and an upgraded radiator to cool in high temps due to dune running and not getting airflow because the vehicle itself is not pushing enough air resistance to get it into the radiators to effectively cool. You don't need excessively high clearance,

Hilux or land cruiser, you have a ton of them in your country anyway.
