My runway has an ALSF-II this year

A few years ago I posted my Christmas light runway and you guys loved it. Well since moving to a wetter climate I kept trying to recreate it, but it kept shorting out on the grass. Finally I figured out a way to make it work. I also came up with a way to make a RAIL and REIL! So much fun to make :) hope you enjoy!

There are a few bush pilots who would land here and take off easy!

The missed approach is… a bit steep.

Bank right 45 degs and through the open window.

Just make a waypoint at short final that is the last MA available, and you’re committed afterwards

Full power at landing if you need to make a go around.

Is there a CAT3 ILS here?
cyberentomology@reddit
I think I saw him wandering around earlier.

White over red…

And here's the FAA approved plane for your runway:
whiskeytown79@reddit
Wow.. that is the stubbiest plane I've ever seen. Does that actually fly?
CarrDaPorice@reddit
Don't know. I randomly found it on reddit.
Shotcopter@reddit
I literally took that same picture, but this picture is not mine. That’s at the udvar-hazy center. It’s hard to be cool in the same facility as an sr-71 and a space shuttle but this little one is doing it.
whiskeytown79@reddit
I googled the tail number and found the wikipedia article
CarrDaPorice@reddit
Thank you! Honestly, it's the cutest plane I've ever seen.

Once…./s
OmegaPoint6@reddit
How big does your fake runway lighting need to be before the FAA (assuming America), takes notice?
theaviator10@reddit (OP)
Good question. Although my neighbor works for the FAA. He made me this sign so I think i’m ok ;)
gromm93@reddit
Jesus.
shit_ass_mcfucknuts@reddit
Ok that's awesome!

Very cool
Sweet-Top-1655@reddit
How did you make this?!
theaviator10@reddit (OP)
Spt-1 wire with C9 Christmas bulbs. Bought a stringer of sockets spaced 9” apart. Ground stakes on each bulb to secure them. Couple of different strands going but it’s all connected and powered together. Doubled up on bulbs for the red and green because the angle made it seem sparse with just the 9” spacing.

In the black box is the magic behind the RAIL/REILs. Just a chase controller with 4 inputs. I made 4 sets of 2 lights and put them in a row to achieve the effect. The last set connects to the REILs so if you notice they actually blink with the last flashing set of lights.
Sweet-Top-1655@reddit
Amazing, great job! I’ll definitely look at doing this

I hope you’re prepared to issue a Reddit NOTAM if any component fails.
KehreAzerith@reddit
And obstacle NOTAMs for any above average height blade of grass that's across the street and not a factor
OmegaPoint6@reddit
NOTAR surely (Notice to Aviation Redditors)
tactical_horse_cock@reddit
Now we need someone to land an RC plane on it.

That‘s a pretty nasty barrier in the overrun area…better throw some dirt on it so it passes inspection.

This is amazing! You should paint some cardboard boxes checkerboard orange and white to put over the utility boxes lol.

Next year and it has to be done, is painting that patch of grass black with white piano bars and touch down markers.
