LOT switched my 787 to an old 777 in Privilege Style colors… seriously?

So I just bought a plane ticket with LOT, and today I get an email saying the flight will actually be operated by a Boeing 777 in the colors of Privilege Style.
Honestly, I’m really disappointed. I specifically booked this route because I wanted to fly on a 787. Now I’m being switched to a 777, and I have no idea how old this aircraft even is. It feels like a huge downgrade, and I’m not happy about it at all.
Between this and other small issues, I think this might be my last time flying with LOT. Really expected better.

You are paying for transportation, not an airplane.
Really? You'd rather fly in the airplane that needs maintenance rather than getting to your destination safely? I think your expectations need to be recalibrated. LOT did the right thing; you just don't have the knowledge or willingness to see that.

You should be glad - if the Privilege Style is the ex-Air New Zealand 772 then it will have a somewhat more modern (though not universally loved) business class than LOT's 2-2-2

hmmm ok. looks like you are a big specialist! is there any way to see how old is the plane?

thx

The 737 Max's that were falling out of the sky until they were grounded and fixed were quite young. Think younger plains are safer, do you? LOL!
Horror-Assignment-92@reddit (OP)
are you comparing a 737 with a 787?
snoromRsdom@reddit
Hey people, don't laugh. This is a VERY serious first world problem. And to the OP: LOT will really miss you. I'm sure the flight attendants especially will miss someone with your... attention to detail.
Lady_Airbus@reddit
Seriously? I would be thrilled to swap onto a 777.
discombobulated38x@reddit
You do know their 787 fleet also uses Trents right?
Lady_Airbus@reddit
Doesn’t mean they’re the same Trents though, lol. Trent 800 > Trent 1000 any day of the week
discombobulated38x@reddit
Might want to be a bit more specific than naming a whole family of engines then...
Lady_Airbus@reddit
I think I make it clear enough I’m only talking about the 777’s Trents? No need to be snarky and pedantic about my language.
discombobulated38x@reddit
Your initial post wasn't that clear at all, if it was I wouldn't have commented. The "right?" at the end could have come across as snarky and I apologise if it did.
Snark begets Snark.
Clarifying clear ambiguity isn't pedantry.
expensive_habbit@reddit
Why is the 800 better than the 1000?
Lady_Airbus@reddit
Because they sound better. Trent 1000 just sounds bland in comparison.

I’ll be one of the dissenters who thinks the 777 is a better aircraft than the 787. Yeah, I know, dimmable windows, lower cabin pressure, blah blah blah.
But the 787 has always felt like an overweight 767 to me. And to be frank, they both suck in Y now that most airlines have gone 3-4-3 on the 777 and 3-3-3 on the 787. Up front though, the 777 is wider with often the same J product which can be a bit wider due to the fuselage width.

I've never slept so well on an airplane until the A350s/787s came along. I like the 777s way more as an enthusiast but comfort wise there's no competition. 3-3-3 on 787s are quite comfy unless you're a very large person
YMMV25@reddit
Fair enough, I don’t sleep unless I’m in a lie flat so in that regard it’s all a wash to me when it comes to Y. Honestly, best sleep I’ve ever had has been on A380s. Even the A350 and 787 don’t compare IMO.
Horror-Assignment-92@reddit (OP)
idk why I don t like flying charters companies. Idk how old is this plane. is there a way to know it?
Lady_Airbus@reddit
19.9 years old. Either way, why does that matter? If anything, it should be an upgrade from the typical LOT experience.
truth-telling-troll@reddit
You can fly any airline in the world and there can be a last minute equipment changes. It's rare to experience it but it does occur. I was sad too once because I was meant to fly the A350 for the first time but it was changed to an A330 at the last minute There's not much you can do sadly but sometimes customer service give you points/coupons if you ask nicely
Horror-Assignment-92@reddit (OP)
thank you for your advice!
UpdateDesk1112@reddit
Then don’t go. Why do you think anybody cares that you are disappointed? Would you rather the just cancel the flight? You would just come here to complain about that.
Horror-Assignment-92@reddit (OP)
I cannot cancel and get refunded. I m complaining because I don t think its fair
UpdateDesk1112@reddit
It’s funny. I hope some day my life is so great that I actually feel the need to complain about which jumbo jet I am going to fly on AND the paint job of said airplane but at the same time I hope I never become the person that is so self centered and entitled that I would do something like that.
It’s a conundrum.
japes1232@reddit
The 787 is having maintenence done. Would you rather fly on an unsafe aircraft?
So unfair of the airlines to operate with a modicum of consideration for your safety lol
Lady_Airbus@reddit
You’re complaining about nothing. I’m pretty sure it’s a common disclaimer that your aircraft is never 100% guaranteed. Not to mention that you should’ve known given that this has been on the schedule for a few weeks now. It was announced that LOT was going to lease a 777 for this route on this day.
Don_Mills_Mills@reddit
My sister flew business on this last week and said it was great.
Horror-Assignment-92@reddit (OP)
rhx. here a more constructive feedback. people are not ver supportive in ths channel lol
Pale_Change_666@reddit
They're chartering the 777 due to the 787 being down for maintenance. Would you rather fly on plane that missed their schedule maintenance ?
