The Pope chose İznik for his first visit because it is locus sacratissimus , the holy place of the First Ecumenical Council. For us, it’s where the Church once spoke with one heart (una voce) and defined the faith. Coming here is a sign of unity and peace, a reminder that the Spiritus Sanctus still guides the Church. That’s why Turkey is first.

Are you Christian?

Deo gratias , I am a Christian.

Welcome, brother. Is it hard in Turkey? ☦️✝️
Due_Newspaper4237@reddit
Thank you brother ✝️. It’s a bit difficult, but with faith there is no hardship that cannot be overcome.

What denomination if you don't mind me asking?

I am Catholic.

As a Turk who grew up in the US I was always interested in Christianity among Turks. I think you're the first Catholic Turk I've met(online)
Archaeopteryx111@reddit
Are you Christian too?
Extreme_Put_913@reddit
No but I grew up in the US and was basically raised among Catholic Italians and Irish. But Christian history in Turkey was always a subject that fascinated me

The post-Judaic cult of C-Hristianity is evolved into a separate religion in the First Council of Nicaea, with wise men deciding on which human-written book should be the BibleTM, because the failing Roman Empire needed a melting pot to unify her people and the nationalism schtick wasn't working.

I like how y'all are so cynical about it, in Turkey secularists are speculating it's a secret mission to convert the nation to Christianity

My parents live in İznik and already I can feel the Christianity growing inside me. It's only a matter of time before I quit my heretical atheistic ways /s

Only unitarian ones (don't believe in trinity) don't consider it relevant.

First council of Nicaea is an important event for Christianity at large. He has little business outside religion and that's a religious pick.
