We had an Aladdin’s Castle in the mall, I never had any money and my mom wouldn’t let me go in.

Oh, I've never heard of that! We had just a regular old video arcade in a basement area (ofc) of the shopping mall.

My mom just didn’t want me to beg her for quarters. Probably one of my earlier memories, Aladdin’s castle was always a bit dingy and dark. Lots of teenagers in there. Sabaro’s was close by so it smelled of weird pizza spices. Pretty much the essence of malls in the 80s.

Or take a ride out to Salisbury Beach or Hampton Beach. Behold arcades that are disturbingly unchanged since we were kids.

Wistah. Yeah but modern arcade games are shit. It's like 2 bucks for 5 minutes with a timer sometimes. It's not like the 80s. Even early 90s. one quarter for a skill play that could last a really long time

The arcades that do exist are an hour or more away from me, so I have an arcade in my basement instead. https://preview.redd.it/julknauaus3g1.png?width=2068&format=png&auto=webp&s=f63892d6e28af6c13bbd33524eb6e96866ec1eba Plus a couple other machines since this pic was taken. Arcades are alive and well though, [pinballmap.com](http://pinballmap.com) is the place to go to find pinball machines everywhere.

I went to a place pinball facility about a month ago. 50 or so pinball machines. It was a nostalgic experience.

Yes. My old neighhood had an arcade. They're actually pretty hot right now. My new town has an old hotel with phone booths.

Makes me think of coin dispensers people used to wear on their belt. That just ended one day.

I remember being blown away by the video calling in Total Recall and thinking *”pfffft …that’ll never happen”.* Oh me of little faith.
