Nostalgic Movies

'81 baby here and I was thinking back to movies that are Nostalgic to me:
- The Neverending Story
- Willy Winka and the Chocolate Factory
- Labyrinth
- Goonies
- Flight of the Navigator
- E.T.
- A Christmas Story
What movies would be similar now? All I can think of is the Minecraft Movie, but our movies weren't videogames turned movies. Thoughts?

Lack of Time Bandits is disappointing

People are always giving me shit for never having watched Goonies. I might be a bit old to appreciate it now though.
BottleCurious1332@reddit
Goonies never say die!
Ok-Concert-6475@reddit
I live in WA; while doing a road trip to CA a few years ago, my family specifically went to Astoria so I could see the Goonies house. The jail that the Fratellis break out of now houses the Oregon Film Museum.

Give it a go...you'll be surprised.
Temporary-Warning883@reddit
Return to Oz. That shit is crazy
Tan_Jordan_81@reddit (OP)
Omg yes! That's one of my favorites and I so identified with Dorothy.
picklecruncher@reddit
How is Dark Crystal not on these lists?
Tan_Jordan_81@reddit (OP)
I ways forget about that one.
StillhasaWiiU@reddit
Live action Mario Bros, Street Fighter, and Mortal Kombat happened in our youth. Ep there were some video games films.Â
Most of your list is the kid centric stuff the studios don't really make anymore. Streaming killed the studios from making a lot of films like that.
The Marvel films will probably be what some kids will feel nostalgic for. Â
Tan_Jordan_81@reddit (OP)
Very true; and I had forgotten about those films as well. It's sad how capitalism has taken everything over, and how cyclical it is.
Gravy_Sommelier@reddit
It's not like capitalism in children's entertainment is anything new. Most of the stuff we watched as kids was made to sell us toys and junk food.
Tan_Jordan_81@reddit (OP)
Also very true, and I'm not insinuating as such. It's just so blatant how much of monopoly there is now.
cheffartsonurfood@reddit
True. My kid the other day said "Dad let's watch a classic movie. Like Iron Man 2 or something." He's 8.
Jonestown_Juice@reddit
Conan The Barbarian
Dragonslayer
Legend
Excalibur
Willow
Beastmaster
Red Sonja
Krull
Clash of the Titans
Conan The Destroyer
You can guess what my favorite genre is.
Temporary-Warning883@reddit
Clash of the Titans! My mom loved that movie, it’s so cheesy seeing it nowadays, still love it
AgentWD409@reddit
Excalibur remains, to this day, the greatest cinematic adaptation of Arthurian legend.
Tan_Jordan_81@reddit (OP)
What movies now, today, in the last 10 years, would have the same nostalgic feel?
I don't think any movies could touch our nostalgia with a 10 foot pole.
justpassingby_thanks@reddit
Tis the season, classic Rudolph or Frosty might be in order. I watched them on TV VHS recordings.
Careless_Lion_3817@reddit
Grease, Xanadu, Splash, Big, Purple Rain

Explorers. Princess Bride. Unico.
sageamericanidiot@reddit
The Little Mermaid, Goodfellas, Stand By Me, Parenthood, Dazed and Confused, The Goonies, Gremlins were some of my favs from the 80s and early 90s.Â
I think for young millennials and older Gen z it would be the Marvel and Harry Potter films.Â
AgentWD409@reddit
Here's my list...
Warrior-Cook@reddit
Last year, I watched Legend twice in one day. Directors cut is better, but that Tangerine Dream track.

Red Dawn, Breakfast Club, The Outsiders
