What to visit around Stoke on Trent?

Hii im visiting Uk for the second time in April to go to Alton Towers and it would be the easiest for me to accommodate in Stoke on Trent but i have no idea what to visit there. Im in uk for a week and i would be in birmingham on the day i arive so i could visit something there too. Feel free to recommend! :)

Stoke is a complete dump. You could maybe visit Trentham Gardens. Also be careful of where you stay in Stoke. Some of the hotels are really dodgy and unsafe. The Victoria pub in Newcastle Under Lyme has rooms that are quite nice. Also to note, the public transport in Stoke is god awful.

You can do Alton Towers in the same day from Birmingham or Manchester (Manchester has a lot more to offer than Birmingham) If you're visiting the UK for a week, don't spend six days in London, and one day somewhere else. Stoke isn't a city on the tourist trail - it's not York, Oxford, or Chester. And that is much of its charm. It's a normal working town, similar to many up and down the country, unpretentious, with people who are largely great. What are you interest in? Stoke itself if a bit of shit hole and they'll be a reason it's cheaper to stay then elsewhere.\ It does have some hidden gems in terms of museums, gardens and zoo/zoo like attractions, but if your not interested in them I won't list them. You can also get a train into Manchester which opens up the day trip possibilities massively. There are a few small towns near to Alton towers that are nicer to stay at but due to the location of Alton towers itself you'd be best hiring a car to fully explore the area.

As others have said, I wouldn’t stay in Stoke. I live about 20 miles from there and it isn’t somewhere that I’d visit. It depends what else you want to do and how you are travelling. Alton Towers isn’t far from Ashbourne and the Peak District if you want to see some beautiful countryside. Drayton Manor or Cadbury World aren’t too far away either, especially if you base yourself in Birmingham. From Birmingham, London is less than 2 hours by train if you want a day trip. Just don’t travel during peak times when tickets are at their most expensive.

Historic town on the river Trent! Tamworth isn't too far from Stoke. If you want to visit theme parks and get some creds, Drayton Manor is there.

Yeah there’s not much but speed cameras and potteries in stoke! Might be worth going to the theatre there if there’s something you want to watch- a few nice bars and restaurants too. Birmingham is a good shout, lots to do, and you also have Derby and Nottingham plus places like Lichfield (has some history stuff) within close reach. You could also travel to another theme park?

My honest advice is just to go to Alton towers and commute back to a bigger city once your done, don’t stay over in Stoke, the people are lovely but there is absolutely nothing to do there x
