I had this on cassette and that was my favorite song on it. The sentence "I hate myself and want to die" still occasionally pops into my head to this day, for better or for worse lol
Tangentially related to this, the “Beavis and Butthead do America” soundtrack is still not available on Apple Music and it’s the only album you can get RHCP’s god-tier cover of “Rollercoaster of Love” off of and I’m salty as hell about this.
Oh my god, I was just listening to this a few days ago haha. It's super nostalgic for me because it's one of the first CDs I owned, and I had shoplifted it from Walmart (along with Pearl Jam Ten). I didn't even own a CD player yet!
Its actually a really good compilation album. Lot of tracks that were thought to be nothing more than B sides of singles turned out to be great songs. Aerosmith's "Deuces Are Wild" probably never would have seen the light of day if not for this album, but it later made their last greatest hits release.
I remember renting the Sega Genesis game (featuring GWAR!) when I was a kid. My crazy religious dad would get mad at us watching fucking Star Search, so this was a major act of rebellion at 11 for me.
Crazy thing is that I looked up the lyrics to this song once and I noticed there was some stuff missing. I found out that later issues of this album had a different version of Monsta Mack.
