Trois office wall pastel disc

Troi's office on the Enterprise-D was one of the earliest places where the large pastel wall discs were first seen (#StarTrekTNG's "Data's Day"↗️, "Sarek"↙️, "The Loss"↘️). In "Half a Life"↖️, it also appears in the bedroom of Timicin's guest quarters.

Probably a gift from her smother…er, mother.

I’d let THE original Number One herself smother me all she liked. Meow.

I'd hang this on my wall, and I'd also like that cute little sculpture thing in Troi's office.

Sometimes, I hate it when this sub points out shit that I will forever not be able to unsee on subsequent rewatches :)

This was part of a general shift behind the scenes in the 4th season away from realistic/figurative art of astronomical objects and towards this type of abstract art.

I love it when designers for a show actually approach their work from an in-universe perspective :-)
BigMrTea@reddit
There's probably a Memory Beta entry. It probably has a rich back story and has played a pivotal role in many events made famous by the shows.

You’re confusing Star Trek with Star Wars
Historical_Sugar9637@reddit
Nah, the novel-verse in Star Trek will absolutely be that way as well.

It’s a wall hanging that represents a historical holiday tradition on Betazed when they shot pastel coloured fireworks into the sky and it lasted for a few days, I forget what it was called.

You mean that's not her home planet?

Cheap painting that's passed around...like her
Slainlion@reddit
When you can look out of your porthole and see a planet, why not instead, hang one up in your office, so you never have to look out your porthole again?

I always thought it was Betazoid moon.
Original-Shake-500@reddit
Right?? All moons kinda look like this when they show them so this was my thought as well 😅

Ditto
nyquilandy@reddit
It is art of a gaseous planet. The most obvious art on a starship. There is no hidden meaning here.
Additional_Moose_862@reddit
What's that white box casting shadows with lines coming from it?
nycpunkfukka@reddit
My guess is the disc is a planet and the white thing is a small craft or satellite in orbit.
