Based quote of the day

"All politicians of all parties, and virtually without any exception are guilty whether directly or indirectly of murder, homicide, trespass, invasion and fencing of stolen goods on a massive and on-going scale.
They should all be hung, rot in jail or be forced and busy making compensation" - Hans Herman de Hoppe

While I understand the frustration with government overreach that libertarians often feel, this quote from Hoppe takes an extreme position that doesn't advance productive discourse.
Democracy, with all its flaws, allows us to peacefully transfer power and hold officials accountable. Advocating violence against elected officials (even those we disagree with) undermines the NAP (non-aggression principle) that many libertarians consider foundational.
It's worth noting that Hoppe's views are controversial even within libertarian circles. His "physical removal" ideas have been criticized by many libertarians as contradicting core principles of individual rights and due process.
If we're concerned about state power, there are more constructive approaches:

And so are the voters who chose them to act as their proxies.

If I vote for Trump because I think he’s less evil then Harris, am I as bad as any politician?
BringBackUsenet@reddit
Yes, because you are participating in the system therefore giving tacit consent to it.

If you are forcefully thrown into an arena against your will, are are you consenting to having been thrown in if you pick up a weapon to defend yourself? No!
BringBackUsenet@reddit
Not the same thing. Nobody is forced to vote.
Wise_Ad_1026@reddit
But you are born forced into a society in which other people can vote to take your stuff away. Voting against my stuff being stolen is me picking up a weapon to defend myself.

So it's okay to join the mafia if you are trying to make it a kinder gentler mafia?

If you wanna sit back and let the statist steal everything you have to your name without a fight, good on you for sticking to "principle".
BringBackUsenet@reddit
Voting is also a waste of time. The majority of people are too stupid to vote so stupidity wins every time.
Carlin was dead on right: The people suck!

What a stupid take lmao if everyone is being lied to (which they are) then how is someone evil if they make choices out of ignorance? Which by the way, the uninformed democratic party holds world record for 😬

Well their being sold out man, you gotta understand

This is going to be the one thing I disagree with Hoppe on. There are a very select few politicians who try to bring about libertarianism.

Language like that makes me VERY excited to run for office.
