I had a lucky week. I had a 1 day p/u & delivery, and then a pick up yesterday that route thru my hometown and delivered tomorrow. I hate to rub it in, but ive been home every night since last Friday. Ill get sent on a short trip Friday and get back to serious work on Monday.
I'm home but working. Dispatch ***says*** they are going to try to get all of us super short shifts or sitting that day, I'm gong in for an "8 and skate" at the very least, I'm getting that 8hrs on top of my holiday pay.
Thanksgiving is an ass holiday.

Now its appointment based with a 4hr early check in window with staff who wont get you to dock until 6hrs into the wait.
Yup. Was stuck in Virginia last year no way missing another. Once I've stopped doing otr. I haven't missed a holiday. Id like to keep that going. But unfortunately I've been doing local work since last Thursday. Local work is more tiring than anything in my opinion
I’m delivering my last load before I go home. Probably won’t have any hours left to go home but I took a 2 hour break because Walmart won’t let me deliver early. If I do an 8 that’ll complete the split and I’ll only be down 2 hours on my 11 and 3 on my 14. Home is 2.5 hours away. Girlfriend works nights anyway so this will get me home in the AM and she’ll come pick me up. If I show up any later probably calling a Lyft, but I’ll be at home in a house with a real bed, a real kitchen, and a real bathroom tomorrow. I’m heading back out Monday morning and going back home again for Christmas.
Gotta 5 day weekend starting after my shift Wednesday morning. I get kinda depressed seeing drivers on ramps and truck stops on the holidays. But somebody's gotta do it
