Thinking about getting a Super 73 Electric Bike is it worth it?

Super 73 electric bikes have been all the rage lately, and I'm wondering if all the excitement is justified. The bikes are distinctive because they resemble a hybrid of a motorcycle and a bicycle. I'm not sure, though, if these are useful for everyday use or if they're only for weekend enjoyment.
These bikes appear to be excellent for city touring. The motorcycles feature a respectable range and a long, comfy seat. Additionally, they have ample power for casual riding or quick commuting. The electric motor makes them simple to use, and they have a beautiful design. Some versions come equipped with extra amenities that might improve the ride, like suspension, LED lights, and several riding modes.
Additionally, I searched Alibaba and discovered several Super 73 electric motorcycles and other models. It is useful to examine features like battery capacity, motor speed, and seat design when searching for a dependable bike. Some versions are a little less expensive than those sold by local dealers, or they come with extra accessories.
How is the Super 73 going? Does it function well as a weekend toy or as a commuter bike? Would you suggest any models to someone who is just starting out?

I’m also on the fence of getting one. Im leaning towards not at this point but I may change my mind
Pros: looks cool, lots of aftermarket parts available
Cons: expensive, gets the wrong type of attention, heavy, not good for pedaling, hard to transport (doesn’t fit most bike racks), very limited storage options

In which ways it gets the wrong type of attention?

Imagine getting pulled over for looking fast but being very slow.

Honestly, I think they are sweet bikes but I am also 96.5% certain it will be illegal to ride them almost anywhere soon. They. Are. Motorcycles. They aren't built heavily enough or safely enough to be a registrable motorcycle and they are only allowed now because the crackdown laws haven't really come into play yet. They are squeaking through a legal loophole that I honestly think will get plugged soon. I think essentially they will be given the pocket bike treatment sooner rather than later and you'll be stuck with a paperweight

They are only illegal on California. These bikes are slow and meet the standards of most states.

There's a new entry-level model they just announced. https://super73.com/products/super73-mzft
A couple of models are having some black Friday specials.

Overpriced.

Not worth it at all. It's outclassed by almost every speed style ebike these days. Yiu would be better served getting a Revv1, Ariel Rider or several of the other competitors out there. Super73's are overpriced, incredibly slow and have standard parts. For the money you spend on a Revv1 you can get a Wired Viper or an Alpha Mini - both go up to 50 mph, are better built and have a 72 volt system with 35 amp hours.

I have 5 of them and they are dogshit to be honest. Love the design but goooood luck ordering parts or fixing anything if you have issues.
If another brand pops up I plan on fire selling mine and getting out.

I received my Miami SE on Friday. Delivery was excellent and the bike assembled without issue. However, right out of the box, the charger was defective. I had to use the charger from my other bike just to get the battery to 100%.
From there, things got worse. After updating the bike using the company’s own software, the bike became completely non-functional. I’ve gone through every troubleshooting step available—checked wiring, verified connections, attempted re-pairing, and followed all guidance provided. Nothing has worked.
At this point, less than 48 hours after delivery, I have a $6,000+ order and one bike that is effectively an expensive paperweight.
This is extremely disappointing, especially from a company that positions itself as a premium brand. I expected reliability and quality control at this level, not multiple failures out of the box.

I run a bike shop that does repairs on super 73s, if you have a warranty issue, you better have a dealer near you. Electrically, our shop can do almost nothing for them, and they do not run common sized tires or tubes. Overpriced and lacking innovation. Many other brands are out there and out performing them for less, in both comfort, speed, price, and quality. Even if you just want one maxing at 20mph, there are better options with great communities. I will gladly offer other options in your price range, speed and range requirements. I would avoid Alibaba, you will have surprise tariffs and along with lacking customer service.
tortugainthewild@reddit
what would you recommend? I have a dealer that sells and services them near me but don't want to buy junk.
JackD_Bike_Mods@reddit
What price range, speed, range, and power are you looking for? Also, what brands does the dealer near you sell?

If you’re choosing between a regular e-bike and a GT73 electric bike, it really depends on your lifestyle. The gt73 is heavier and bulkier, but the comfort and style make up for it. I use mine to go to work and also for late night rides, and it handles both well. The battery life is decent, and charging is straightforward, which makes daily use realistic.

I’ve been riding a GT73 electric bike for a few months now, and I can honestly say it’s more than just a weekend toy. I use mine for short commutes, grocery runs, and casual evening rides, and it’s been super reliable. The seat is comfortable, the motor has enough power for city roads, and it turns heads everywhere. It’s practical and fun at the same time.
ChaoticRamenn@reddit
If you’ve already done the factory de-restrict on your gt73 electric bike, you’re pretty much getting what the manufacturer safely allows from it. Some people chase more speed, but honestly the real fun is in how responsive and agile it feels. I’d rather have a reliable, smooth ride than risk damaging the motor or voiding warranties just for a few extra km/h.
amzeo@reddit
issue is you cant really put any cargo on the back, and you cant adjust the seat so they are uncomfortable to pedal
agulesin@reddit
They advertise a 'Reversible Cargo Platform' on their website...
amzeo@reddit
Try loading that up with stuff and swinging a leg over that stuff to get on.
With a bicycle the rack is below the seat. With step through you can get on still
With a super 73 your cargo is inline with your seat. It's not good for carrying potential
Sea-Temporary-6995@reddit
For me not worth it. For around that price (2500EUR +) you can get a nice ebike with a Bosch mid-drive.
Also, their website has a section called "Celebrity Super Squad" that shows the likes of Justin Bieber, Jason Statham etc riding the Super73. Don't be a poser.
Comfortable-Fly5797@reddit
They aren't legal ebikes nor can they be registered as motorcycles.
FuckYouLMFAO@reddit
They are pretty garbage in my opinion. Super high price for specs that are nothing out of the ordinary
ThriftianaStoned@reddit
The only ebikes I ever see cops pulling over or confiscation are the Super73 and its clones. I ride past them all the time on my mountain bike looking ebike and never get a second glance.
