I didn't realize Mordor had regular commercial service. Hummm...I hear mount Doom is great this time of year.

What part of "fly you fools" didn't you understand?

I assume no risk of ash plumes?
GeronimoDK@reddit
I'm not a geologist but I've heard that the Icelandic volcanoes are generally not much of a concern in this regard, except when the eruption starts under a glacier, in which case they can erupt explosively hurling up ash, ice and other great stuff high into the atmosphere.
(Like the Eyafjallajökull eruption in 2010)
micgat@reddit
Volcanic ash, which is mostly solidified magma and rock particles, is mainly the result of explosive eruptions which propel the particles into the atmosphere. Lava pooling up like this doesn't produce much ash.

Thank you. I was sitting here wondering the same thing

Iceland from above looks like another planet volcanoes and glaciers in one frame.
GeronimoDK@reddit
I can add that from the ground, it still looks like another planet!
nuapadprik@reddit
Iceland's ridge volcanoes are a result of its location on the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, a divergent plate boundary where new crust is formed. These are characterized by fissure eruptions, where lava flows from long, linear cracks in the Earth's crust.

I see residential areas, with lights on. It's amazing to me that people could be living so close to an erupting volcano. I understand these vents pop up in completely new places and sometimes those places are in the middle of towns. But it's still shocking to see houses near that.

Is this video sped up?
The blink pattern for the beacon and strobe lights seem too fast for an A320.
Planeandaquariumgeek@reddit
I think this is a 757
Miladic_Animations@reddit
The 757's beacon and strobe light blink patterns are unsynchronised, while the A320's are.
Plus, the 757's light blinks are so quick, they're too fast for the video camera shutter to capture. The A320, with slightly longer and brighter blinks, is easier to capture.

It is funny that Iceland is fire and Greenland is ice.
