when was the last time a ferrari v12 could acc take on the lambos? the boxers were slower than the Countach; the Testarossa was slower than the Countach and the Diablo; they didn't replace it with a regular production mid-engined v12, and their front-engined stuff could not hang with the Diablo, Mercy, or Aventador. sure the 812 has more power than an svj but in a drag race, the lambo takes it every time for many other reasons. ferrari also doesnt give you everything in one car. You want the crazy style from ferrari? chances are it wont have the v12 or an interior. Ferrari also only managed to beat out lambo with twin turbo v8's rather than the actual v12, and thats consistent today as well with the sf90.
I love my ferraris, but lamborghini tends you give you everything in one package that ferrari does not and then charges more for.
Similar thing happened to my friend, one Sunday morning she went wearing sweats flip flops, along with a friend to a Mercedes dealership to buy. She works hard all week, and can't be bothered to dress nicely to go buy something. Seeing how she looked, they treated her badly, so she just went across the street literally, and bought herself a BMW. About 90,000. She then drove it over to the Mercedes dealership and told the manager in the loud voice that, hey, your salesman over there, this is the deal that he didn't make. I just bought myself a BMW instead, bye. She apparently saw a whole range of emotions on the people's faces before she left. Anger on the manager, and the blood drained from the salesman's face. And her BMW is a darn good car.
Storytime: When my eldest son (now 24) was about 9, one day he and I decided to go on a grand tour of the high end dealerships in town. We just wanted to go look at the pretty cars.
First, we hit the Lamborghini dealership. We walked around outside, looked at the pretty used cars people had traded in to get their Lamborghinis, then went into the showroom. The sole employee there at the time made it very clear that he was annoyed at our presence, snapped at my son for getting too close to the Gallardo on the showroom floor (the boy was very disciplined, he never touched ANY of the cars that day), and outright asked us to leave. So we left the guy with his otherwise-empty dealership. Don't threaten me with a good time.
Second, we went to the Ferrari / Lotus / Bentley / Aston Martin dealership. They didn't have as many used cars outside, so after a quick lap of that lot, we went inside. There were lots of cool things in there that we, again very respectfully, looked at. They had a Bentley Brooklands in white that really caught my eye. The salesman there came over and spoke with us, asked my son what he thought of the cars, asked if we had visited the gift shop, etc. We visited the gift shop / parts area, saw some neat stuff for Christmas presents. Then we were off to the other dealerships in the area.
The Mercedes store didn't really have anything special, so we just went on to our final stop - the Porsche / Jaguar store. When we got there, sales guys were falling over themselves to make sure we were ok. Since they were so attentive, I kept telling them that we were only there to look at the pretty cars, so they wouldn't miss out on a sale. Eventually the Porsche sales manager came over, offered us some water, and struck up a conversation. We talked at length about our family's history with Porsche, my 928, the current model lineup, the 993 Turbo that was behind ropes at the time, and clearly the star of the showroom, &c. After a bit, while we were looking at a white 911 GT2 that they had in the middle of the room with big DO NOT TOUCH signs on it, the manager asked the boy if he'd like to sit in it. They both looked to me to see if it was OK, and I asked if the manager was sure. He said it was fine, I checked my son's pockets to make sure he didn't have anything pokey, and then the manager lifted the boy into the driver's seat. He let him stay in there as long as he wanted. Then on our way out to our car, he asked if we wanted to see something cool. He then proceeded to open up the entrance to the shop, and walked us over to a silver Carrera GT that was in for service. Obviously we couldn't sit in it because it was a customer car, but it was neat being able to get that close to such a unicorn. We parted with a bunch of smiles all around.
When we got back in the car, my son turned to me and said, "They were nicer than the other places," and I said "Son, that is why we are Porsche people, and not Lamborghini people."

I had a similar experience at the Lambo dealer in Montreal. One girl sitting behind a desk on her phone (not a single other person in the large showroom). There was a fancy lambo race car just in front of her desk. I asked her what is was, and without even moving her head from pointing in the direction of her phone, she quickly moves her eyes up to me, to the car, back to her phone and then says “it’s a race car”… she didn’t waste a single breath more than she had to on us. We left shortly after and I said “thanks!” as I was leaving. She didn’t respond.
We then went to the Ferrari dealership and had a very similar experience to yours at the Porsche dealership. The manager took me and my wife around and talked about all the cars they had. He knew we weren’t there to buy, but just seemed to really love the cars and talking about them. We decided that if we ever get lambo money, we’ll get a Ferrari. Just from that experience alone.
But for a experience like that you would mostly go to a museum wouldnt you? Like as a Dutch, i would go to the Porsche museum if i wanted to know about the history of certain cars, not a random dealership. Or is this something else
Think of it as admiring automotive sculpture; you just go somewhere where interesting sculptures are gathered and look. Get togethers, car shows, and their parking lots can work too.
I know that you would do that because you like the cars but then the example of Porsche instead of going to a dealer a museum would have more interesting cars and likely cars that arent being sold anymore(Carrera GT for example). I have been to car shows but that feels different due to the fact someone owns it and has designed it to their wants(like rgb headlights on a Raptor)
For example in canada the second biggest country in rhe world , if you want to see Cara like that you either have to go to a dealership or see someone's private collection , which means being fortunate enough to know someone who has a private collection to begin with
Hahaha ignore the guy that claims our tiny country of like 40 million is the 2nd biggest in the world. The news these days on cbc global etc. has turned like 28% of the population into mush. They actually believe the crap that the government funds 70% of and then jacks up a good half billion to billion dollars for election years 2 years before. Contrary to what the news says……. Canada hates its leader by a insanely wide margin.
This post is old af but I think it really does depend on the dealership. As a kid I LOVED supercars. Mama took me to Lamborghini dealers, ferrari dealers, Bentley dealers. I never actually had a bad experience. Even got to see a 90s McLaren get revved up, got to sit in ferraris and lambos. Bently dealer was actually the nicest in the sense that the guy gave me a million flyers and little books on the cars. Good times.
Ferrari does not either, and not even once they did in their history. Ferrari branch in North America only once sent some letter that had no value and no threats in it to someone and that is it when it comes to "modifications".
Everything else is about trademarks and capitalizing on them.
