For Airbus fans, if you boast that the A320 has outsold the 737, do you then admit the A321 is not a competitor to the 757?

If so, great. If not, then you'll have to include both the 737 and 757 sales against the A320 family.
And I'm neither an A or B fan for the record. The E175 is the most comfortable commerical aircraft and I'd fly on it over the Pacific if it had the range. I just don't like hypocrites.

Who gives a fuck besides you? It’s such a dumb subject to debate

I have no problem admitting the A321 cannot serve certain niches that the 757 is great at.
I come from the car world where, just because you can stretch a Yaris to make a Sienta, does not mean you should. I have a very strong sense of how much stretching is too much, just because it's safe for that platform doesn't mean it's optimal. For auto and aircraft makers who do so much business anyway, they really should give everything of every size an optimized platform.
Boeing screwed up itself when it chose the 737MAX project over Y-1 which would've provided replacements for 737 and 757.
Even when the E175 have the range in a hypothetical extra-fuel-tank situation, it's a known fact that the E190's bathroom overflows even on YYZ-SEA, so good lucky with flying its family member across the Pacific :)

The 737 kind of had a 20 year head start. Or are we ignoring all Boeing deliveries of the -100/200/300/400/500? Then, yes, it might be fair to include the 757. But even then only the -200.

In that case, I think we would have to include all the A320 orders Airbus won from their bribery scandal. They got pretty much every developing country to buy the A320 family. Feel free to verify it for yourself. Airbus and their executives were convicted in ok international courts.

Ok. You’ve got an axe to grind. Got it. Enjoy the rest of your day.

Even though I favor Boeing planes more, I personally don't care what the aircraft manufacturer is. I also don't really care about popularity either. A lot of my favorite aircraft were/ are unpopular.

Even if you include the 757, it's not enough.
737 deliveries+backlog + 757 deliveries = 12,295+4,312+1,049 = 17,656
A320 deliveries+backlog = 12,321+7,151 = 19,472

The A321 is the A320 family.. the 757 is nothing like the 737. The A321 wasn’t designed to compete with the 757 directly.
