Roadking 4000, $85 on Amazon. I can use it for 6 days or so before the battery finally dies. https://a.co/d/4GsXPAS It's got great clarity, It stays connected from a really good distance, super comfortable. The only down side I've found is that it doesn't fit under a hard hat great, but for $85 on Amazon, you can go get a low profile one too just for when you need it under something.

I use a Shokz Opencomm and I love it. It's light and comfortable to wear all day and the battery lasts for my whole shift and charges quickly if I need it for longer. Great for listening to music or audiobooks as well while I'm out of the truck.

How well does it do with noise cancelation? On my blueparrot 450, I can have my microphone inches away from the belts while the engine is running and hear/be heard crystal clear.

I’ve been using Opencomm for three years now. Best headset there is. They’re light, outstanding sound, battery lasts a long time between charges and my ears are not covered so I can still listen to what’s going on around me

I got one essentially right when they came out. Had it for almost a year and warranty replaced it due to some damage that occured from it falling out of my tractor. Garmin was super cool about replacing it. I'm still on that second one two years later. The leatherette on the ear cushion did come off but I just popped the cup off of the stereo attachment and it's good as new. $400 was a huge cost for a headset but honestly I'm very happy with it and will get the upgraded version when it's time for a new one. Just do yourself a favor and get a headphone protector case for it. $15 bucks on Amazon has saved a lot of wear and tear when it's not in active use.

Honestly, i like the Pro 2’s over Pro 3’s overall …the precision finding on the 3’s is great..the case speaker is way louder too.. but as a truck driver the 2’s do a better job..first thing I noticed was the cab of my truck got so much louder engine..bump..rattling..vibrational sounds..i was like the fuck? Buying the Pro 3’s will make you return them for new Pro 2’s lml
View on Reddit #71908220

TwistedAirline@reddit

As in, you could hear more of your environment than you wanted? Or people on the other end of a phone call did? I ask because there’s some things that can be tweaked in that regard… your calls might be defaulting to wide spectrum instead of voice isolation and if you’re using adaptive mode while listening to music, that can also be adjusted up and down. If you’ve tried all that already well then… I’m even more curious to get mine and see for myself. I expect them to be roughly the same as the 2 but I want the longer battery life and hoping the transparency/adaptive modes sound more realistic and less “filtered”.

I talk with about 10 other guys I work with almost every night, and we can always tell who forgot to charge their headset and is wearing AirPods. I admit they get the job done if you’re making a quick call, but if you got to be on the phone for a while god bless whoever you’re talking to.
View on Reddit #71946403

Crypto_Stoozy@reddit

Yeah I guess I don’t talk to that much and I normally only wear one so once one’s getting low I’m switching to the other that’s fully charged. This way one’s always waiting charged
View on Reddit #71946489

FundsWhale@reddit

I used to do the same thing switching between the two. They are great for doing music and podcasts. Until I started talking to a big group of guys I would have never known the difference. The others guys complained all the time that they could hear everything that was going on in the background. Now I can do roughly 2 10+hrs days of continuous talk before I need to charge my blue parrot, and unless something is making noise right at my microphone you’re not going to hear it. Like one of our biggest complaints is when someone with AirPods on is cranking the legs…. holy shit it’s the worst! Do it with a blue parrot on you’d never know it was happening. When I use to yard jockey I had a tractor with the back up beep… forget about it, guys wouldn’t even want me on the phone.

If you’re on a conference call with a bunch of other people wearing blue parrot head sets, you’re that guy giving everyone else the headache. They’re ok for one on one quick calls, but until you get on a conference call with a bunch of people all running good equipment you don’t really realize how much better quality blue parrot is over AirPods.

Why do must truckers wear these style headsets instead of say, airpods?
View on Reddit #71873525

BadamPshh@reddit

Airpods sound like ass to whoever you're talking to. I make people take them out if they're talking to me on them. The point of a quality headset isn't just *your* audio quality, but the quality of your audio on the other end as well. My bp 650 has noise cancelling in both directions. They can hear my Garmin, and higher pitched sounds, but no rumbling of trucks or any low end at all.
View on Reddit #71933078

gettinchanged@reddit

Not sure why you’d say that. I talk to others frequently on my airpod pro 2s and they filter out background noise excellently with great call quality on both ends. I know that because some of the people i talk to most regularly also use them
View on Reddit #71939692

Laurens_hubby10@reddit

I can’t speak for others, but from my experience longer battery life better for one, better comfort I don’t have to worry about the AirPods falling out. The headset stays put. Better call quality and noise cancellation on the headset. I’ve used my AirPod Pro 2 and my wife says it sounds like I’m in a wind tunnel and very far away. It could be a number of factors as well. Everyone has their preferences and it varies depending on equipment some trucks are quieter than others.

I'm fine with them for a bit and then it just gets annoying The Cleardryve 220s are comfortable enough to wear all day if I wanted

I've been using the one you have in this image and I love mine. I don't need anything super fancy. Works fine for me. If you have your voice commands set up well, and a steering wheel button dongle, you can pretty much just use your phone's voice controls to get what you need done.

I use something called Tecknet that I found on Amazon for about $30. Amazing battery life. Great sound. I can hear anyone I'm speaking with, clearly and they only hear me. It does a great job filtering out background noise for the price and has lasted me for quite a few years, now. If the thing ever breaks, I'm probably just getting another of the same brand. https://a.co/d/2pLD1hc

No headset. I use the Jabra Talk 45. Love it. Blocks out background noise from the truck itself or when I'm out tossing chains and ratcheting binders. It's got a 100 foot range which allows me to leave my phone in the truck when working outside around my truck and trailer.

Airpods pro 3s with custom tips, the noise cancellation is extremtly good, but the software can lass through things I need to be aware of. My cleardrive fell apart and I got tired of fixing it, don't buy ine if those, the earpiece support is weak and loves to break. Will never use a heaset without really good noise isolation or canceling again. The ambient road noise will totally shred your hearing after a while, even in a lot of 4 wheelers.

I like my Bose QC headphones. It's not really designed for trucking, but I like the noise cancelling feature, and I just leave one ear off. Plus, extremely comfortable. No pain in my head from extended wear like BP or other popular "trucker headset" brands. They also are great for everything else, watching movies etc.

Truckers wear headsets with a boom mic because after many phone conversations and judging how people sound on a call, a boom mic right in front of your mouth has the best chance of picking up your voice and filtering out background noise. Airpods suck at noise cancellation. My Blue Parrot bt450-xt is at least 8 years old and is the best I've had. I forgot to pack it once and broke down and paid too much for a 550 at Loves. People are always amazed I'm going 70 with the window down and it sounds to them like I'm on a landline, with either of them. The 550 speaker doesn't sound as good as the 450 streaming music etc, but both are loud and clear enough for voice calls. Wish I could buy a 450 with usb-c. Would be perfect.

Road King 3000. The sounds quality is decent (mono speaker) and from what I’ve heard from others the microphone quality is great. People I talk to have told me that they can barely hear my truck running while I stand next to it. It seems it has built in filters that makes it sound like I’m at home sitting on a couch instead of driving.

Raycon earbuds. 1 stays in the case, the other in the ear. Usually lasts 8hrs or so (can't recall exactly, plus I put mine in the case to charge a bit when I shower). Very clear audio, works great for calls, music, podcasts, video essays, etc. Have had mine for maybe 2yrs now and they still work great. Paid less than $100 for them via Amazon.

i’ve been on the ClearDryve220 from Rand McNally for the last 4 and a half years and i have no complaints. might need to replace one of the ear pads in the next year or so but it’s been fantastic otherwise. great noise cancelling, the ear piece fits all the way around your ear so it doesn’t get painful or sensitive like with the blue parrot headsets, and the battery lasts around a week for calls and music for 10-12 hour shifts
View on Reddit #71865424

I didn’t even get 2 years out of mine before the power button stopped working completely. Took it apart and the internal piece attached to the board was broken pretty badly. Never dropped it just pushing the power button ruined the tiny little internal part. The audio quality and mic muting background was good but the headset always had a squeak to it and was way worse when I went to the 2 ear mode instead of 1. Just loose internal plastics on mine.

I’m running the blue parrot, don’t remember what model but pretty much the smallest most inexpensive one and it works well although I think it could be a little louder but everyone on the other end says it sounds like I’m standing in the room with them. The worst part is single ear piece, best part battery life, I charge it maybe once a month, mind you I’m not yakking all day long but it is usually on standby waiting for a call so it’s technically in use.
