I heard a while ago that you couldn't, but could support be added in the future? I'm going to do it through DisplayPort and I'll have a 9070xt. I'm asking before I buy anything so I can know if I should get a 4K Mini-LED dual-mode monitor or a 1440p OLED monitor. I was more on the side of the 4K monitor since it would have less maintenance, but I remembered that it might not work, so I came here to make sure.

I have a 4k 260hz display on a 9070xt using DP. It uses color space compression but not even noticeable to be honest

And I think the latest DP versions shouldn't have that?

yes, but monitors with it are very expensive, like at least 150$ more expensive

Works. Tested on OLED with 260 hz (but usually running on 120hz to reduce heat dissipation bc I’m not gaming) - Fedora Workstation 43, latest kernel.

Apart from possible compatibility issues, it should work. HDMI has some restrictions on Linux with AMD thanks to the HDMI consortium's shenanigans, but DisplayPort works great.
