I've just downloaded it myself, and I've been using it for a few days, and I have to say, I'm truly impressed with this release. Zorin OS 18 has a tiling manager where you can create your own layouts. That was a complete surprise to me. They've also incorporated a panel where it's easy to make your Zorin panel look like Windows 11 with the apps in the middle. If you'd want to do such things, you can. Very customizable, and very user-friendly. It's a perfect distro to download and move right in. There's nothing to set up at all, and I like that. Thought and care went into Zorin 18, you can tell. Honestly, I couldn't be happier.

ew they’re selling a PRO variant too, thats a big nono from me.

More newcomers to the linux family
MelioraXI@reddit
Kinda useless metric, how many has installed it from those 1M is more interesting
kemma_@reddit
I want more stats, by country and how it compares to other popular distro downloads.
Also, why would you want to download a new release, should you just upgrade previous?

Another Zorin shill post.
lelantos-sh@reddit
how is it performance wise on 10+ old hardware when compared to lite variants of ubuntu?
ZunoJ@reddit
How could it not break all previous records in absolute download counts? Can I upload the image to their servers to reduce the counter?

What's all the hype about this distro? I'm not sure I can trust the people promoting Brave, but I'm glad Windows users are trying something new https://thelibre.news/no-really-dont-use-brave/
Aristotelaras@reddit
Is it anl issue that it uses old gnome or not?
aervxa@reddit
If I ever hear arch linux's downloads, i would divide by 10 in my head, since EACH user have installed it 10 times at minmimum /j
We are happy to have linux newcomers, alwayss !! 😌

Link ? Are you so kind as to post the source?
Anyway... How many of these million people continue to use the software? The number of downloads doesn't tell you anything; the number of people who continue to use Zorin on a daily basis is the most important metric.
0riginal-Syn@reddit
Incorrect. While it does not have the same meaning as the continued number using it, which is difficult to measure without telemetry, it does indeed tell you something. At the very least it guages interest in the project and Linux itself. Believe it or not that is important. Especially to dev teams that have worked hard to produce something.
venus_asmr@reddit
Though your correct, that number would require telemetry. I'm not sure if zorin OS has this but its probably something people wouldn't be happy about

Found the link, it's 4 days old and from ZorinOS blog — https://blog.zorin.com/2025/11/18/test-the-upgrade-from-zorin-os-17-to-18-and-celebrating-1-million-downloads-of-zorin-os-18/

Congrats to the team!
lKrauzer@reddit
Question is: how many will stick.

Good for ZorinOS, nice to see them doing well. They helped me some years ago to move away from Windows being my main OS to Linux becoming my main. Think it was version 15 that I was running for awhile until 16 came out. Started distro hopping and found I prefer rolling release style distros. Sorry I am not currently running you ZorinOS but kudos to you all the same. :-)
kengador@reddit
went from windwos 11 to mint to zorin, stayed at zorin
p-wing@reddit
does this count the seven times I downloaded it to my ventoy and deleted it for other distros on my ventoy?
TheNavyCrow@reddit (OP)
yes
