I've got a chain lock and a very loud alarm on mine. The alarm is motion sensitive. It'll give a warning beep if it's moved once, and after that if it keeps moving, it'll let out a 110db alarm. Its extrmely loud and very painful on the ears. I feel like that is enkugh to deter any Theives lol. I also plan to get a lock that locks the handlebar brake down.

nice what is the alarm?

not saying this is needed, it’s just the setup I have
I have a AXA frame lock (sold secure silver rated) to lock the back wheel with a plug in 130cm chain to plug into it and lock the frame to whatever is around.
I have a cable lock (repco so not serious brand) to lock the front wheel to the bike
Hiplock folding lock (sold secure bronze rated) as an extra frame for whatever lock in addition to the chain if I need the extra protection (don’t use this often since I got the frame lock and chain)
I have a vibration alarm in my back light which helps protect the bags on the bike (if someone removes the cover they vibrate the light and set it off)
I also have an AirTag as a deterrent thrown in a bag
Lastly I have the connect module which gives real time tracking if the bike is moved without my phone nearby and has an audible alarm as well and because my bike is a cube and cube don’t make room for the connect module where it belongs it’s not under the motor cover but is basically hidden in the tube somewhere which would not be easy to find or access if someone stole the bike
And the battery is locked with an ABUS key
I_SAY_FUCK_A_LOT__@reddit (OP)
I love the airtag trick. My worry is that I'll go to the store and someone will just try and yeet it into a truck.
RipOk3600@reddit
The AirTag is there now mainly in the hope someone who is thinking about stealing the bike will think it’s to much work when they find there is one near the bike (I haven’t even bothered hiding it to hard, it’s just in the bottom of one of my saddle bags)
The real tracker is the connect module, that has its own SIM card and GPS so the tracking is sent straight to my phone as soon as the bike is moved, giving me real time updates of where it is. And the alarm it comes with is not going to tell someone where it is because the speaker is in the motor not the module
I_SAY_FUCK_A_LOT__@reddit (OP)
may need to get me one of those things. What connect module are you using?
RipOk3600@reddit
It’s only compatible with Bosch system because it’s part of the Bosch smart system

I use a lock that is between a foldable lock and a chain lock, you can say that it has long links i guess, it doesn't fold as precisely as a foldable lock, but it also doesn't crumble into a ball, it's literally as inbetween.
AXA foldable lock is the one i believe
I lock the main bike frame with it, but i also have a long thin cable that i use to lock the front wheel and my helmet.
Front light, camera and phone are removed.
Bike seatpost has it's own clamp with a lock, don't need to remove or do anything.
Some screws like the ones securing the suspension with the handlebar and the screws securing the seat have "hex lock", a tiny hexagonal piece preventing anyone with a hex driver from dismantling things by hand.
Not saying one can't remove stuff, but it's limited to breaks and litle else.
Alarm is turned on, produces noise if bike feels vibrations or movement
GPS is hidden and lasts for weeks at a time.

Most important is stay away from shitty neighborhoods. Small cable does the trick. Never had an issue. Leave my helmet , battery and speaker on bike when going to lunch. No one touches our bikes.

I use an orange folding thing, and a u shaped thing and carry personal defense device.. and have mc insurance
texxasmike94588@reddit
I use a Litelok X1 and an Abus folding lock on mine when on the go.
All components on my bike have Hexlox inserts and wheel-nut protection.
At home, I have a ground mount and a chain lock to keep my bike from being taken from my garage.
At work, I left a chain lock on the bike rack so I don't have to deal with the weight.
There are so many options for bike locks. I read reviews from thebestbikelock.com and my insurance company to pick the best options.

I do: cable loop through the front wheel. Loop that through a chain that goes through the full frame of the bike and the back wheel. Lock chain to substrate. If I'm feeling extra cautious, I'll use my third lock through the chain thats looped through the frame, and lock both to to the substrate. Basically, the more cautious I'm feeling, the more locks I use, and the more tangled they get. If it frustrates me, it'll frustrate a bike thief.
