Great song IMO. First heard it at a teen club in northern Indiana (Tippy Dance Hall) in 1993….it’s still a banger and in my regular rotation. Didn’t find out that Paul Lekakis was openly gay until about my mid 30s. I only knew this song. Didn’t matter anyway.
And the fact that a bunch of lake kids from Indiana used to go nuts when the DJ played this song. I went to that club until I was maybe 19-20 bc we all did…it was a “lake thing” for those of us too young too go to bars. Even in 2000 (my last year going to the dance club) they still played this song.

Mixed this song up with Boom Boom Boom by the Outhere Brothers and now I have that one stuck in my head.

Or Boom Boom Boom Boom by the Vengaboys😆

I only remember this song from an MTV show that used to air about HIV/AIDS (or close to that subject).

👍 I was thinking of the lady yelling "Booo" in Princess Bride.

Agreed.

Not looking up the lyrics but if I remember correctly, “boom boom boom / let’s go back to my room / so we can do it all night / and you can make me feel right”. Scandalous.

imagine nostalgia turning a club memory into legend while we forget the rest

Didn't know Vengaboys ripped off a different song!

Someone in our grade 5 class would play it on the boom box at lunch. We used to eat in our classrooms and one teacher would circle around to supervise, covering about 10 classes.

I don’t know why, but always equate this to Rico Suave by Gerardo. Songs I shouldn’t have been listening to at a young age.
I remember when my sister was singing In Your Room by the Bangles and said to my mom she couldn’t believe we were allowed to listen to that in a very sarcastic tone to which my mom said “You weren’t allowed but you did anyway”

I rediscovered this song this year and legitimately enjoy it, but I'm laughing the whole time it's on. It's also great while racing in Mario Kart World.
