Is there a name for this phenomenon of making foods taste like other foods that they really shouldn't purely to get people to buy 1 out of intrigue and nothing more? Ranch ice cream, this, coke that tastes like oreos ect.

Consumer baiting, I would guess offhand? "Man, that sounds terrible....wait, I wonder how terrible it is? I oughta see for myself." Drops in cart, basket, reusable canvas bag

Due to the lack of consent from outside users, please only post your own content or food you've bought from a restaurant, thank you.

Bit late or early for aprils fools

They must've thought, "hey, some people put cheese on their apple pie". Which that's kind of a rarity anyway.
Chaij2606@reddit
Not kink shaming at all, but cheese on Apple Pie? I guess i am just really not the target audience here
ree_hi_hi_hi_hi@reddit
It’s so disgustingly Midwest and I can tell because of how gross I feel being lured to it. I don’t even like apple pie. But put some chz on it…
anuncommontruth@reddit
It's a Midwest diner thing in the US. Its supposed to be real high quality sharp cheddar sliced very thin on a traditional apple pie. Personally I don't love it, but after I tasted it, I got it.
Chaij2606@reddit
Interesting, that combination is not one i ever tried or heard of before so appreciate the information
radrachelleigh@reddit
Cheddar cheese, specifically.
Supper_Champion@reddit
Apple and cheese is a pretty classic combo.
Money-Ad7257@reddit (OP)
I first learned of it during one of Garrison Keillor's stories or otherwise ramblings on air, and a couple of times since. A Midwest thing, as is another shittyfood down the hall allegedly.
Yaggitarius@reddit
I mean this just seems like a shitty American version of Alpen macaron

I just looked that up, and THAT looks delicious. That's practically a casserole though. Dollars to doughnuts this is going to be an ersatz affair with some assy tang to it. As far as my preference, I already don't prefer the Kraft cheese flavor, much preferring the off-brands which I find more cheddary.
anuncommontruth@reddit
I saw someone review it and they said it was was pretty disappointing in that it wasn't disgusting or weird and also not good. Just normal kraft with a hint of warm spice.
Yaggitarius@reddit
It is really good, but I can't handle the apple sauce, it fucks with me like pineapple on pizza.

I ordered 4 boxes in case it's great lol. I will let you all know soon.

"other natural flavor"
Do tell Kraft, do tell.
Fishwithbrokendreamz@reddit
I like crappy mac and cheese the one I get is radioactive orange and has jalapeno bits. Only buy it once in a while though as they are probably in the F tier health wise.
No-Blueberry-1823@reddit
Good Lord that's odd
Spiralecho@reddit
Saw a chef reactions of someone actually making a Mac and cheese apple pie - similar outcome, substantially more effort
GlitteringBoi666@reddit
A slice of good cheddar cheese on a plate along with a slice of apple pie is tasty but this an abomination. Personally I like my pie a la mode 🍨 🥧
TheS00thSayer@reddit
Daniel Larson would cream his pants for this
meatmybeat42069@reddit
This feels like someone fed apples and cheese to a marketing AI and it spit this out
Jumpingjmp@reddit
Watching Jordan Myrick try this confirmed I have no need to ever eat it.
Karovan_Sparkle@reddit
Broooo...what? That sounds disgusting. But I'd try it just because.
