Where did you get these snails from? Unless you sourced them from somewhere that provides culinary safe snails you shouldn’t be eating those. Every day garden snails are full of parasites and other weird shit.
Part of me feels like you know this and didn’t actually eat them which means you just boiled snails alive for clout and karma.
I’m stupid and didn’t think about them being the same, but cutting of their head works as well now that I’m thinking about it! We have a ton of invasive slugs in my country, there’s tons of ways to kill them but because it’s an animal they’re protected by animal welfare laws and they say that the most humane thing to do is to cut their head off.
no i haven't, and no i will not eat any that were prepared this way. what's even your point? other animals are cooked alive so its ok to cook anything alive? no. nothing should be cooked alive, period.
again, that's a nonsensical point. it's not ok to cook any animal alive, period. you can also easily kill the crab before cooking or steaming, lol. noone forces you to cook them alive.

Not a fan of this post at all
No_Supermarket7724@reddit
What? Those look nothing like garden snails.
You can be upset at the method of cooking but it is a common way to cook them… and to make up some story in your head is just weird.
Just say you don’t like the method, it’s inhumane, whatever, and move on
Seygem@reddit
how fucked do you have to be to cook still living animals?
Kitty-Mon@reddit
Have you ever eaten crab? Lobster? Any type of clam? Those are all cooked live
Not that I agree with it whatsoever but the practice is way more common than you’d think
Seygem@reddit
no i haven't. and i'm not going to.
sylvanthing@reddit
I personally haven't because they're cooked alive. I've never eaten any kind of sea bug or shelled creature

Thank you!

I agree. I’m unsure how you ethically kill a snail though? You can’t crush them if you want to eat them. (Not that I want to eat them though)
GrafZeppelin127@reddit
You could always freeze them. That’s a pretty humane way of killing small, cold-blooded animals.
MerryBerryMudskipper@reddit
Crushing is the only way to do it humanely unfortunately.

Drowning them in beer is deemed inhumane

Crabs and lobsters are still alive when they are steamed so I guess no one here has eaten crabs or lobsters
Seygem@reddit

jazzyspet@reddit
My point: crabs and lobsters are steamed alive. And if anyone has eaten crabs or lobsters or even a crab cake, the crab was alive when it was cooked.
Seygem@reddit
again, that's a nonsensical point. it's not ok to cook any animal alive, period. you can also easily kill the crab before cooking or steaming, lol. noone forces you to cook them alive.
jazzyspet@reddit
Nonsensical? Interesting. I’m just adding information in reference to animal that are cooked alive. What’s nonsensical about the info?
Seygem@reddit
no, you aren't "adding info", you are creating strawmen. and you know that. so any further discussion is pointless.
jazzyspet@reddit
How does “strawman” apply to the fact that lobsters and crabs are cooked alive? That’s all I did was make a comment. Wow…
behaigo@reddit
You've got plenty of snail protein right there. You don't need it in your ice cream, too

Aww man, snails are like little puppies in my head

Y'all acting brand new like you don't know where meat comes from...
GreenJay54@reddit
It isn't about the killing itself, it's how it's done.
If I must die, I'd prefer a quick, clean kill, rather than being cooked alive. Anyone with common sense would say the same.
I eat meat, I love meat, but I also love animals. I appreciate them for the food they provide us with, not take them and their life for granted.

As long as it’s properly sourced, why not? Escargot is excellent. Just don’t want any weird parasites or whatever.
BTW as a gardener (or at least a husband who built his wife a massive garden and pitches in with the grunt work) - snails can go get fucked
Annual_Entry2369@reddit
Depends on how much I get payed per snail
