QuirkyCookie6@reddit
I actually love this and am now getting an urge to pineapple upside down other things
Maybe strawberry cake
Rndysasqatch@reddit
This could have been delicious. I don't really know what could have made it better but it sure is a lot of red
Nf1nk@reddit (OP)
It tasted really good, potentially drying the pineapple more and using a lighter brown sugar might have made it more attractive.
IvyEmblem@reddit
Perfect for Halloween
Nf1nk@reddit (OP)
That would have been a good idea.
TuvixWillNotBeMissed@reddit
I'm going to gloss over the pineapple and just say that's an insane amount of food colouring for a red velvet cake.
Nf1nk@reddit (OP)
It's just what was in the cake mix.
TuvixWillNotBeMissed@reddit
Love getting cake mix from the deli section.
tuck78@reddit
pooping red for a month after eating that.
Nf1nk@reddit (OP)
That's inspirational, I could use beet slices in the middle of yellow onions to make an onion upside down corn bread.

The whole idea of “red velvet cake” should just be squashed. It’s just a slightly chocolate cake with red dye. Not cool anymore these days for any of us to eat that.
ThickChalk@reddit
It's dutched cocoa and vinegar, anything else is red chocolate cake.
KDBA@reddit
Specifically cannot be dutch cocoa. The dutch process stops the reaction from happening.
RandomFleshPrison@reddit
Not always. If you can get the right cocoa powder you can make the genuine article.
truffleddumbass@reddit
I had never liked it as a kid and when I got a bit older and learned that the whole gimmick was just food coloring I was like “…..but WHY?” I really don’t get it and it doesn’t taste significantly better than anything without a crapload of food coloring in it anyways
dreampuff@reddit
I remember being about six years old watching my mom make this “red velvet” cake the whole family was waiting for and her squeezing the dye into the bowl. The memory of it all seems really magical and decadent but now I know it was just a gimmicky thing in the south at the time. Luckily she moved on to “Black Forest cake” after that which had red cherry pie filling but no dye. I think 🫢
lego_not_legos@reddit
I love it.

Sioytu@reddit
Ehh I'd eat it once just for science
Nf1nk@reddit (OP)
That's where I am at with it.
Snizza@reddit
Put it in that biohazard bin
Lower_Arugula5346@reddit

Nf1nk@reddit (OP)
It seemed like a good idea at the time.
Actually tasted really good.

For attention online.

Concerning for everyone involved
cacklz@reddit
I see a sharps container on the counter. Hopefully you also have a biohazard bag nearby and a medical waste disposal service on speed-dial.
Sad_Ocelot_9612@reddit
That is definitely something

It's Murda!
