Wanted to make a higher protein pasta salad. With cottage cheese as the creamy dressing part. Why did I think this would work?

Wholewheat pasta, chicken breast, cottage cheese, sweet corn, cherry tomatoes, BBQ sauce

🫢Oh No

Try ricotta.
captainshockazoid@reddit
you might as well have just dumped real cheese in there as well, that would have fixed it
PermanentTrainDamage@reddit
Next time blend the cottage cheese
Practical-March-6989@reddit
No amount of blending will change the fundamental issue that cottage cheese is grainy
PermanentTrainDamage@reddit
In a pasta salad a little bit of grainy-ness will hardly be noticed, especially compared to rando chunks of cottage cheese.

I knew it would be much better if I blended it, lmao, I just don't have one. A blender is definitely something I'm saving for. In fairness I could've used something like yoghurt and mayo together instead.
PermanentTrainDamage@reddit
You don't need a fancy one, I just have a Magic Bullet that was $20 from walmart. Works perfectly for sauces, smoothies, baby food, etc. If you want to do large batches the $30-$50 larger blenders also work well.

Was going to suggest this. Steak place I go to blends cottage for their baked potato topper. It’s amazing blended

Works with lettuce salads. I do it all the time.
Hot pasta too, works great.
I don't do cold pasta though, maybe this is why.

I mean, this could work, using the cottage cheese like a “mayo” base in a pasta salad. So I would go in that direction. Omit the bbq sauce, add a few tablespoons of Greek yogurt or mayo with the cottage cheese and maybe a splash of milk or lemon juice to loosen it up, if need be. Then your corn and tomatoes. Voila!

Classic logical error. Seemed like it would work, and then very definitely did not.

Her knee...?
Fomulouscrunch@reddit
Not what I said or a particular focus but go off.

Blend the cottage cheese! I do it all the time. My favourite is throwing some herbs into that too.
Honestbabe2021@reddit
I made lasagna using cottage cheese yesterday and it was delicious. I am going to do that moving forward.

fucking hell, I cant unsee pure vomit now!
Important-Vast-9345@reddit
Cottage cheese wouldn't be my choice as a substitute, but the choice of BBQ sauce is throwing me off...and I love BBQ sauce.
FormalLeadership2109@reddit
But does it taste nice? It definitely looks like something I'd make and really enjoy.
