Laptop fan not working on Linux Mint — tried ACPI fixes in GRUB but still no luck

Hey everyone,

I’m really new to Linux and honestly installed Linux Mint with the help of ChatGPT, so I’m still learning how everything works. I recently bought this laptop, but I’ve run into a pretty big issue: the fan doesn’t seem to turn on at all while I’m using Linux Mint.

I’ve tried a bunch of fixes that I found online, but nothing has worked so far. One of the things I tried was modifying the GRUB configuration. By default, the line looked like this: GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash"

I tried changing it to different versions based on what people recommended, such as: quiet splash acpi_osi= ( i keept all the GRUB and checked the formatting too )

and also: quiet splash acpi_osi="Windows 2020"

After each change, I ran sudo update-grub and rebooted, but the fan still doesn’t spin up. I’m not sure if Linux Mint just isn’t controlling the fan properly, if this laptop model has weird ACPI behavior, or if I’m missing something obvious.

Since I’m still new to Linux, I’m hoping someone here might be able to explain what else I can try or if there’s a different way to get the fan recognized. I really don’t want to damage the laptop by letting it run without proper cooling.

Any help, suggestions, or explanations would be greatly appreciated — pls and thanks
