I want to be a local O/O

I want to be an O/O so I have more independence. But with a baby and another on the way, it's vital that I stay local. I'm thinking of buying a daycab and either leasing onto a company or going solo.
Are there companies out there that lease on or contract local-only drivers? Or, do load boards have <250 mile runs, or are there load boards that focus on local runs?
I'd like to know how feasible this is.
Thanks!
