Can totally understand that people dont want to eat it from how it looks. Mashed potato leftovers never make good presentation after a night in the fridge.
But I find it too be a really good meal that I crave from time to time. Would gladly eat that a few times a week even.
Far_Acadia_9394@reddit
i would fuck this up ngl
Alfiy_wolf@reddit
Add some mayo
Electrical-Ice1671@reddit (OP)
Extremely good advice that I will follow next time
Alfiy_wolf@reddit
Add dark chocolate grated on top of the fish and add salt - thank me later
katjoy63@reddit
and then remove the fish, and Wallah! you got something... awesome? yeah!
snowlynx133@reddit
It took me a few minutes of trying to figure out why you were saying "I swear to God" in Arabic before I realized you meant voila lol
katjoy63@reddit
for some reason, I've always misspelled that word - sorry about that!
TheGoldenCowTV@reddit
Or Danish remoulade
bitebakk@reddit
This sounds so bloody good 😫 ...dare I say mash gently to simulate potato salad?
DuckRubberDuck@reddit
I love remoulade but I’m not sure I would pair it with mashed potatoes… but idk, fries and remoulade is a good mix, I have also occasionally eaten boiled potatoes with remoulade, so it might work
TheGoldenCowTV@reddit
I do it semi regularly. Fried fish mashed potatoes in a sourdough burger bun with remoulade and something pickled its nice
DuckRubberDuck@reddit
Hm, me and fish aren’t the best friends, but it doesn’t sound bad.
Some fish is okay, smørrebrød with a fried fish fillet, topped with remoulade (and lemon) is amazing! It’s one of my favorites
Bontus@reddit
mayo and raw onion, Dutch style. Bonus points for pickled onion
Vortex-Of-Swirliness@reddit
And by the looks of that… they’re correct.
masterstratblaster@reddit
Yep
OGdirty1Kanobi@reddit
Pickled herring on.... mashed potatoes?
Electrical-Ice1671@reddit (OP)
Oven-cooked herring, but yeah. With sour cream too. They're leftovers from the fridge, hence the shape.
smolmushroomforpm@reddit
Okaya but that sounds amazing...
KillHitlerAgain@reddit
that actually sounds good but the presentation is horrendous
HeyCarpy@reddit
You ok, babe? You haven't touched your fish brick.
Moody_Bluee103@reddit
The frick, if you will
c1n3man@reddit
Reminded me about Sarah Goldfarb from "Requiem for a dream". She had something like herring with sour cream in her fridge.
Vusstar@reddit
I prefer raw herring.
OGdirty1Kanobi@reddit
Ah was wondering why it was so well angled
motherlymetal@reddit
I can't tell if it's a mushroom or fish on top.
Money-Biscotti6680@reddit
Can't confidently name 1 ingredient
jabracadaniel@reddit
they do say that yeah. why are you bringing that up?
Sproose_Moose@reddit
LilArtsyCreature@reddit
Looks like the crossection of a road. You a geologist or something? (Only ribbing. Though if you actually did turn out to work in geology or an adjacent field that'd be pretty cool 😂)
General-Sloth@reddit
are you feeding seals at the zoo?
BlackberryOdd4168@reddit
As a Dane: wtf am I looking at? Is this part of the swedish strategy to deter immigration??
bluelighter@reddit
Good ole Fish N Chips (kinda)
uber_potatos@reddit
Looks rather unappealing but I bet it tastes amazing. You cannot fuckup fish+potato combo
Ungodly_Box@reddit
Yeah for a reason.
cyzad4@reddit
This is why all those blackmetal bands are in the woods, trying to get away from the smells in the kitchen
processedchicken@reddit
Fish and mash, alltime good combo.
GravyPainter@reddit
Honestly. Slap anything on mashed potatoes and im getting down
MechanicalEngel@reddit
Moved from the states to Sweden. Still baffled from the first time I saw a shrimp cake 7 years ago in ICA, don't think I ever got over that.
oneweirdclickbait@reddit
It looks like something that should go into walls to protect you from 13 months of harsh Scandinavian winters.
katjoy63@reddit
yeah, you know how we go back an hour in the fall - Swedes and Nords go back a whole month!
katjoy63@reddit
Ja, Olaff, you betcha -I'll have some of dat fish soaked in lye. No worries. Tack!
Tronkfool@reddit
Who? What fool said that? I bet he had eyes that damn idiot
Cpt_Morningwood@reddit
I'm from Finland. You just separate the 2 and warm them up a little bit and it's a decent lunch. Herring... mashed potatoes... all good ingredients. All good stuff.
Currentcorn@reddit
Peak food, perfect, will devour voraciously until there's nothing left on plate just as if my whole purpose of presence is organic dishwasher
imacuntsag420@reddit
Why are they all the same shade of white or beige. That is kinda what makes it unappetizing
HattMader@reddit
Well, where is the picture of the food?
koJJ1414@reddit
a cake!
HumourNoire@reddit
I see now that British cuisine is the reverberating conflict between the northern European tendencies and the fancy delicacies of France and southern Europe, with every wave of history beating upon its plate in turn.
uchuskies08@reddit
I would rather starve
Grayseal@reddit
If you know, you know.
PersKarvaRousku@reddit
Unironically looks better than most of my dinners. That dill goo looks great.
Deadbeathero@reddit
Rotten banana with mashed potatoes? Are you a raccoon?
ferralsol@reddit
At first glance, I thought I was looking at mold...
Udrolph@reddit
Honestly? Something similar to this is my guilty pleasure food. Salted herring, slice donion, mayo, mashed potatoes and grated beet, all layerd on one another. Throw in some fryed rye bread covered in mashed garlic and it's a feast. But only once a year XD
freakmeout123@reddit
It is unappetizing
sprucemoose12@reddit
Would you like some SwürvÃkSmölten?
TheGoldenCowTV@reddit
We don't use the ü in the nordics that letter is left for the southerners
sprucemoose12@reddit
My mistake sir/mam.
SnackDemonsS@reddit
Lol, man c'mon, u can't straight up diss Nordic food like that!
Electrical-Ice1671@reddit (OP)
Whatever do you mean! This is straight up gourmet food
Steve_FishWell@reddit
nah, you need färskpotatis and much more sourcream
TheGoldenCowTV@reddit
That genuinely looks tasty though
Few-Emergency5971@reddit
Yeah, id totally throw up on this
Dizzy-Confection-551@reddit
checkliver@reddit
Left side towards the corner is a hair
Frosenborg@reddit
I hope Sweden takes this one..
TapeDeckSlick@reddit
Looks like they're right
