First concerts? Memorable concerts?

Mine was King of pop š„° no matter what, Iāll always love him. I was 9 (btw, the 1984 in my username has nothing to do with my age). At 13, I saw the Beach Boys with Roy Orbison opening. Seen a ton of shows but those were my first big ones
mase27@reddit
1997 - Aerosmith with Jonny Lang in Old Orchard Beach, ME with my Dad.
sapient_pearwood_@reddit
First real concert was Weezer when I was maybe 14. They were very late. I "saw" the Indigo Girls when I was 7 or so with my parents but it was a free outdoor thing before they were well known and all I really remember is it was too loud.
BirdBrain_99@reddit
Nirvana in 1993 in Williamsburg, VA
Feralest_Baby@reddit
I declined an invitation to that tour because it was an hour a way and I figured they'd come to my town "next time".
Feralest_Baby@reddit
They Might Be Giants in 1992. My mom dropped us off and we called on a payphone to get picked up after.
illprobablyeditthis@reddit
Green day's dookie tour, whenever that was. 95? 96? 97? It took waging a near world war to convince my mother to let me go.
C0BRA_V1P3R@reddit
Ministry at the 9:30 Club in the late 90s. I made the rookie mistake of not wearing ear plugs and my ears were ringing for days because of how loud they were.
illprobablyeditthis@reddit
No one was wearing ear plugs back then, as my rampant tinnitus will confirm.
I saw ministry last year, dude needs to retire. Lip synced the whole show.
newgreyarea@reddit
I wouldāve killed to have seen that earlier tour. In Case Your Feel Like Showing UP. Setlist and band were incredible.
Jd11347@reddit
The holy grail of industrial concerts.
DisastrousFlower@reddit
oh gosh 9:30 club. spent a lot of time there.
Primary_Standard_892@reddit
I was around 16 when I went to see Korn and Lost Prophets (they opened for Korn) with my best friends. Hearing the instruments live and jamming out with thousands of people was so awesome. The mosh pits got hectic but I jumped in once or twice when the vikings weren't shaking the earth, so to speak.
AdoptedBySmurfs@reddit
Weezer with Jimmy Eat World and Tenacious D. Pretty fucking awesome.
RachelPalmer79@reddit
My first concert was Genesis. I was 12. I still remember how awesome it was. Several Bridge School Benefits (Tony Bennet/Paul McCartney), Neil Finn when Johnny Marr walked out on stage with a harmonica and a guitar. Good times!

Long comment aheadā¦
My first show was Metallica at the Target Center in Minneapolis, January 29th 1997. I had nosebleed seats after being on hold with Ticketmaster for an hour and a half the morning they went on sale but I didnāt care, I was just excited to see them.
Cut to day of the show. I had a carful of friends and I was following my mom who had a couple of my friendās younger siblings with her. She was coming down so we could stay in a hotel (we lived 3.5 hours north). We were headed down I35E on our way to spend some time at the Mall of America before heading downtown to our hotel pre show. My friends and I were listening to 93x and the DJ came on and said theyād released 500 floor tickets and were available at the Target Center Box office.
I sped up and got along side my mom to get her to pull over (no cell phones) and told her what was going on. She led us to the Target Center and we went in and there was no line or anything and we got our floor tickets. We ended up on the rail. I got a high five from Hatfield when they came out. My voice was hoarse and my ears rang for three days. One of the most memorable nights of my life. Iāve now seen Metallica 22 times, most recently this past June.
Some months after that first show I found a bootleg VHS of the entire show for sale on the internet for $20. I put a $20 bill in an envelope and sent it away and got the tape back. First thing I ever bought online. My friend Josh and I were visible in it a couple times. I eventually wore that tape out. Some years ago I discovered that same video had been uploaded to YouTube.
My friend Josh took his own life in 2021. A couple years ago I made a post on Facebook reminiscing about that show and tagged the friends that were with. One of them reached out saying she still had the guitar pick sheād caught (I forgot she had) and said we should meet for drinks and sheād give it to me. One of the other friends that was at the show with us joined and we had a nice chat about the show and our memories of Josh. Fuck Iām starting to tear up now. Thanks for reading if you got this far.

This reminds me of seeing Metallica at Lollapalooza 1996. It was an Army buddy, Dave, my brother, also named Dave, and his friend Tim, who was a huge Metallica fan. Tim didn't really care for the grunge and punk bands on the bill (The Ramones, Rancid, Screaming Trees, and Soundgarden, a dream lineup), and it was the first time he'd seen a mosh pit. He was near the back of the crowd all of the time, not a pit rat like my brother and I. We got really close for The Ramones, but it was a mob scene by the time Metallica went on. Tim was thrilled to see them so close, though.
He unfortunately died in 2002, of complications from surgery. It was very unexpected and sudden, and we were just floored by that. Who knows? Maybe he's rocking with his rock n' roll heroes at The Great Gig in the Sky.
1980pzx@reddit
I was at the 1996 Lollapalooza in Noblesville, IN. Youāre right, such a good lineup. It was me and my friendās first concert. 16 year old me saw A LOT that day. Very memorable, especially the huge quick pop up thunderstorm that came through right as Soundgarden were playing āFell on Black Daysā. Fond memories.
Ok-Potato-4774@reddit
Total opposite type of weather for us. It was about 95 degrees and humid in San Jose, California that day. Hottest summer day I've ever felt in the San Francisco Bay Area. The Ramones didn't even wear their trademark leather motorcycle jackets, it was so hot. I read years later it was a decision on Joey's part because he was in bad health with his lymphoma, and feared he'd pass out from the heat if he wore it.

Sorry to hear about your friend Josh. Great story though.
MsBlondeViking@reddit
Iām so sorry, hugs to you. What a great memory.
newgreyarea@reddit
Damn! That shit is hard. Glad youāre able to actually just go watch that memory if you want to. Loved Metallica as a kid. Never seen them but my little brother goes all the time. He saw them two days in row this year. They came to my town once right before Justice blew up. I wasnāt allowed to go but gave a friend money to get me a shirt. Wish Iād have kept it. Some girl is probably wearing it ironically now. Hahah
Dramatic-Yam1984@reddit (OP)
Massive hugs always. Thank you for sharing your story sweet beautiful stranger

101.1 WJRR Warp Tour, October 2001. I was 17. Disturbed was the closing band and they premiered the song Prayer for us. One of the most memorable experiences of my life.
WritingNerdy@reddit
My first concert was Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
DifficultMinute@reddit
Same here.
When Shredder threw the New Kids on the Block magazine into the paper shredder, it was the wildest that I've ever seen a crowd go.
WritingNerdy@reddit
I donāt remember that š I do remember having 10th row seats and rubbing it in to the guys in my 3rd grade class (the only other TMNT fans). I got chosen to be interviewed by April before the show, too. So fun.
Possible-Tangelo9344@reddit
Fourth of July in the city near me used to be pretty cool with lots of music acts. They'd have country, rock, different genres.
I was like 15 or 16, I guess, went to it and saw Stabbing Westward play a set.
geriatricxennial@reddit
My sister who's 12 years older than me picked me up from summer camp in 1992 (maybe 1993) and took me to Wonderland outside Toronto. When we arrived she saw that later in the evening at the Kingswood(?) Theatre, Richard Marx would be playing with Wilson Philips opening. We got tickets for probably about $20 in total, sat on the grass and it was magical. Whenever I hear songs from either I think of that time.
ScotterMcJohnsonator@reddit
First concert was Ass Ponys - I'm not even sure if that's how it's spelled lol
There's been many memorable ones, but I'd say my favorite was James Taylor in Milwaukee, WI. Incredible show (of course), and then he was playing in Chicago the next night. We stayed after to try to see/meet him (no luck), followed his tour bus down to Chicago, and then went to see him the next night also.
I think I enjoyed it because he's my favorite, but also because it was a neat experience to see basically the same show twice, but crazy different
tgbarbie@reddit
First concert was New Kids on the Block when I was 8. NKOTB Hanginā Tough Tour 1989. I win.
daphuqijusee@reddit
Me too - Tiffany opened for them
Firkster@reddit
Oh man I thought I was the only one who has this as an embarrassing personal fact. And my second concert was Vanilla Ice. I vividly remember listening to Milli Vanilli in the parking lot before that show.
DStew713@reddit
Hell yeah! I saw New Kids when I was in third grade. I used to get made fun of a lot because Iām a dude. I remember pulling up to the concert with my parents and there was a limo with some teenage girls in it and one of them waved at me.
Dramatic-Yam1984@reddit (OP)
We should all go on the NKOTB cruise together lol
RushBubbly6955@reddit

imogen1983@reddit
Same, but I saw them in 1991 when I was 7.
Ok-Concert-6475@reddit
This was mine as well. My best friend and I went with her dad when we were 13. I don't recall who opened, but we had a stellar time.
NicolesPurpleHair@reddit
Same!! The summer between 3rd and 4th grade. My 16 year old sister had to take me and my friend. Lol. I still remember a trio of guys called Perfect Gentlemen opened for them.
CheesyRomantic@reddit
Luuuuuckyyyyy.
I couldn't go to the Hangin Tough tour. We were not a well off family. But when they did the Step by Step/Magic Summer tour my best friend got 4 tickets and brought me with her. Her uncle and husband gf took us. Lol.
So NKOTB was my first concert .
Dramatic-Yam1984@reddit (OP)
Who was your fave new kid? And nuh uh lol. I was older, maybe 13/14 for Hangin Tough

Six Flags Great Adventure used to have quite the lineup in the 90ās. Our parents took us to see so many bands as our first āreal concerts.ā We had season tix for years so we saw some awesome names:
Blondie, REO Speedwagon, Beach Boys, Peter Frampton, Styx, Marshall Tucker Band, The Monkees, 38 Special, Foreigner, Sugar Ray, Smashmouth, Southside Johnny, Twisted Sister, Air Supply, Frankie Valli, Rick Springfield, and KC and the Sunshine Band.
Iām sure there were more, we spent a lot of Saturdayās at the park and stayed for concerts. The 90ās were a time!
WendyPortledge@reddit
My first concert, I was 13, my friend was 12. We were dropped off at the theatre to see Barenaked Ladies, Born On a Pirate Ship tour. We were the youngest ones there, and had a blast. They sang a song they just made up about the theatre seats, āone buttcheekā, and Ed told a story about running around the lake that day, unknowingly through peopleās yards. Iāll always remember it.
AytumnRain@reddit
Bush and The Jesus Lizard
unclestink@reddit
Tom Petty Dogs With Wings Tour, 1995 was my first concert.
Rage Against The Machine and Wu Tang Clan, seeing My Chemical Romance in a little club before they blew up, seeing Blink 182 in a little club before they blew up, seeing Deftones in a little club...were my most memorable shows
1980pzx@reddit
I saw RATM and Wu-Tang in August of ā97 in Noblesville, IN. It was wild. People rushed the stage and a kid died (medical condition I believe). Iām shocked the show went on. I believe Wu Tang was charged with inciting a riot or some shit. Rage put on a helluva show that night though.

No Doubt March 1997 in Buffalo. I wish I could have got to see them a year earlier though. Bush, Goo Goo Dolls and No Doubt as opener. Last concert at the old Memorial Auditorium.

No way!!! I was at the show in 1996 and it was amazing for every reason you can imagine. But I remember instantly loving No Doubt, it was the first time I had heard of them!

Johnny of Goo Goo Dolls was who introduced Gwen to Gavin. Gavin later recalled after meeting Gwen he said to Johnny "Good fucking call, mate."

No Doubt! June 1997, E-Center outside of Philly. This was my first ārealā concert. I had gone with my family to see Gloria Estefan a few years prior but this was with my friends, on the lawn. The first of many concerts I saw there.
theRAV@reddit
I went to that tour in Boise in 1995, I think. No Doubt stole the show (Bush was good too).
se-dc@reddit
No Doubt put on a hell of a show! The call-and-response audience-participation version of Excuse Me Mr. was dope

I saw them that summer for my first concert at Great Woods. We got my sister to drive, but we had to buy her ticket. I was more excited to see Weezer.

I saw Sublime on the Warped Tour before "What I Got" hit the radio. The bass player was playing a trombone solo when my friends (and my ride) told me they wanted to bail. I tried to convince them to stay and check out the band, but they weren't into it. Six months later Sublime had become popular, and none of them remembered that I was trying to get them to stay for their set.

David Bowie, Nine Inch Nails, and Prick in ā95.
newgreyarea@reddit

Saw NIN in ā95 too. Mom caught me pregaming (smoking weed) before the show. Either she didnt know, or she knew. My 10 year younger brother was next to her when she opened the garage door. 1994 Universal Amphitheater. NIN. Manson was the opener and The Jim Rose Circus was the middle act. I was still in high school. That concert blew my mind. I was talking to a girl before the show started. She went out to her BF's car to have a beer. Being a teenager she got trashed off of one beer, stumbled over a big biker lady in her 40's as she was walking back to her seat next to me. They had words, the biker lady grabbed her hair, tuned her up in like 2 seconds, pulled her forwards by her hair, then shoved her backwards. The girl came flying over my shoulder head first. I grabbed her to stop her from smacking her head into the concrete. Biker lady got tossed by security.
Manson was still unknown. The crowd wasn't really reacting to him. The last song of the set was My Monkey. Manson had been wearing nothing but boots and spandex bike shorts. He dropped the bike shorts to reveal his bikini briefs with a whole in the front and his giant cock swinging around. The gasps could be heard all over the place even through the music. So many: "Oh my God!" and "Is that real?" It looked real for about half of the song. Then he was bending it in extreme ways and swinging it around, smashing it between speakers.
The Jim Rose Circus was a trip. Most of the hardcore stuff was done by a performer called "The Enigma". You may have seen him on some TV shows (The X Files notably). He was a skinny bald guy with a tattoo of a jigsaw puzzle all over his body. He was also a contortionist who could dislocate his shoulders and slide his entire body through a tennis racket with the webbing removed. This guy was really gnarly.
NIN came out and there was a camera crew in the audience. This was the show that they recorded the Hurt video for. Seeing that screen come down with the projection onto it was really cool. They also performed Burn with the same projection screen.
I could not have asked for a better concert to be my first. I've only been to a few in my life, but that was one that I still have the best memories of.

Aerosmith Pump tour. It was the first concert I went to on my own. The Black Crowes opened for them, but Iād never heard of them before that day. I was also about 13.
Afterward I learned Aerosmith was also my momās first major concert in college.
I also saw Phish perform to half empty gyms on college campuses before they hit it big.
Most memorable concert was the Faith No More, King For A Day tour. The audience started jumping up and down chanting āencoreā until they came back on stage. They had everyone keep jumping so the whole theater was shaking to the rhythm, and they started playing to the beat. It so visceral and heavy. Afterward parts of the ceiling were falling (old theater).

First concert: Green Day at Slim's in San Francisco in 1994. My dad didn't know anything about the band but took me and, even though he was pushing 60 at the time, he really enjoyed it. I obviously loved it.

First concert: The Nylons in 1984 or 1985. I was 3 or 4. We had front row tickets. I remember CRANING my neck up at the stage and there was a smoke machine.
First concert without my parents (but with my sister) as a teen: The BoDeans at the Minnesota State Fair Grandstand in 1996. First time I really remember smelling pot.
I have long since lost track of who was my first concert without a family member. (It may have been Incubus with a coworker? Maybe Phantom Planet on a bad first date?) I have gone to TOO MANY CONCERTS. I had to remind my husband this summer that we saw LCD Soundsystem when they came through town and they were so disappointing. I never went to a concert until I was 21. My parents never took me to any, and I didnāt know much about rock music to begin with. But I loved U2 and they came to my college town for the Elevation Tour on my 21st birthday. So, I had to get tickets. They were nosebleed seats because I was a poor college kid, but I had a blast.

Aerosmith. Must have late ā98 as the show got postponed twice. I donāt recall who was supposed to be the opening act the first two dates that got canceled (I want to say Spacehog??) but when they actually made it to the show Seven Mary Three opened. Loved 7Mary3 set, really turned me on to them.
It was me and three high school buddies with floor seats, something like row 26 (I got in line at 3am when they went on sale) on the end of the aisle, so nothing to our left & there were two or three seats in front of us that sat empty for all of 7Mary3ās set and at least 3 or 4 Aerosmith songs. Absolutely great seats and nothing immediately in front of us.
Eventually, this older (to us, they were probably in their 50s) couple came down, tall guy with long dark hair and a short lady with long blonde hair, both dressed in jeans and leather jackets. And they absolutely reeked of weed, way more than you need to have a good time, that smell just hovered around them. Then about 4 or 5 songs later he apparently says something to her she didnāt like so she hauls off and shoved him out into the side aisle before she pushes past him and storms off with him quickly following.
They never returned the rest of the show so we basically had essentially unobstructed floor views for the whole show, minus like 4 or 5 songs.

Not counting my Dad's performances (not a national name or anything; he's an organist and conductor,) or school trips to The Kennedy Center to see orchestral and/or ballet-ish, I think my first proper concert was Harry Belafonte, at Wolf Trap. I was 10 or 11 at the time, so '90/'91.
Mom took me and my older sister. It was a great show; really intimate. Somewhere in the middle, he brought his (grown) daughter on stage and she sang a few songs with him.
What really struck me was how, in-between songs, his regular speaking voice was a hoarse whisper; sounded like he'd spent a lifetime smoking cigars and gargling broken glass; but as soon as he started singing, all that rasp vanished, and he sounded just like the records. It was incredible.
It was also when I learned about when to leave a concert, to avoid being stuck for hours in the parking lot. As soon as he hit the first "DAY-O" of the banana boat song, Mom was very suddenly all-business, like, "OKAYKIDSGETUPWEGOTTAGORIGHTF'INGNOW" š

First concert was MC Hammer with my mom, early 90s. A really memorable one was Godsmack opening for the Deftones, Alpine valley 2001. Some guy, from the area I lived, recognized me from a party and came up to me and said I have all these joints and nobody to smoke with, like a wet dream or something... Anywho, we smoked joints and watched as these two large men (picture tweedlydee and tweedlydumb) would stand about 20 feet away from each other and say "you the man, no you the man!" to each other then running and belly bump trying to knock the other over I think, then they would high five. They did it over and over again during Godsmacks set, Hilarious. Then it poured cats and dogs at the beginning of Deftones set, my girlfriend and I ran out to the car. Deftones eventually played but we were SOL because we left, yada yada yada we had a really good time.

My first was Metallica in ā97 at the Pyramid in Memphis. I had begged my mom for months to take me and a friend. She finally folded.

Itās hard to say what my first concert was. I used to go camping at bluegrass festivals in the California gold country a lot as a kid.
When I was 10, my family went to see the Beach Boys for my birthday when Kokomo was huge. Around the same time, we went to see the Everly Brothers reunion tour because my mom was a huge fan.
When I was 13, my friend in 8th grade (and his mom) took me to see Van Halen (Van Hagar) on the F.U.C.K. tour in 93.

First rock concert was Smashing Pumpkins in June 1996 at The Palace. My older friends who had a rock band let me tag along and showed me the ropes, like how to get to the front of GA.
First festival was Lilith Fair in August 1997, I think at Tinley Park.
Second festival (of sorts) was my freshman year for MTV Campus Invasion 1999 with Orgy and Sugar Ray. Set and setting far more important than the actual bands.
A coworker brought me along for her front row seats to Tori Amos in 2003, not cheap. Thatās the closest Iāve sat to an artist performing like that in a large theater like that. Smaller more intimate performances, but first time at that scale.
The first year that EDC went to LAs Vegas, the Above & Beyond sunrise set had me crying about dancing astronauts. That was enough EDC for me though.
The Flaming Lips and Elton John at Bonnaroo in 2014 was big for me. I cried again. And I was the only āfriendā in the audience with Lips, everyone else was so faded. Iāve always wanted to reach out to them about that moment and then I talk myself out of it.

Midnight Hour & Big Mama Crumb in what used to be a car repair shop. Fairly certain it was near Halloween and MH dressed up like KISS. Both were local bands. The first being kinda moody alt stuff and the later being freaky funky punk. I remember the singer of BMC (Fuck Spinner Lopez!!š)breaking open glow sticks, dumping them into the pit and the lights going out. Swirl of color in the dark. Had blood on my back from some hot goth chickās (Cara) spiked gauntlet that got me in the back in the pit. I caught a ride home in the trunk of some strangerās car with a couple of other people. The front was full and they didnāt want to leave us stranded cuz we were like 13 years old and it wasnāt a good location to be stranded in. Mostly went to these types of shows. The first big concert I went to was White Zombie. Wasnāt really a fan but Filter was opening and I loved that record. Still spin it regularly. My girlfriend put a bunch of acid in my mouth and it kicked in right when White Zombie started popping off with the pyrotechnics. They had what looked like a graveyard behind them that projected shadows on the backdrop in a cool way. Explosions and maybe some crucified clowns dropping from above. I was high as fuck so that may be a bit dodgy in the memory dept. Mostly punk shows in weird places. Then I got a car and could travel for shows. They didnāt come to my town usually. I probably see a few shows a month til this day. Not much on the calendar for this month tho.

First real concert: Leon Russell. 2nd: Elton John. I saw the beach boys after a minor league baseball game and Alan Jackson at the fair but those werenāt real concerts to me. Leon was awesome as was Elton John. Leon was fully blind by the time I saw him but he still out on an amazing show. His son played on drums. Elton was surprisingly showy considered how portly he is. He was very animated and all over the stage, at one point lying on top of the piano and playing down towards the keys. But the one i kick myself over is New Kids on the Block. I liked them like everyone else but going to concerts wasnāt something I really thought about. But one night my mom was driving me around and I noticed a huge line of people extending down the street. The line was full of kids my age. The next day everyone at school was talking about how great the concert was. For my smallish town, New Kids coming was a huge deal. We never got big names. There was no place for them large enough so it was at the university stadium by my house.

My very first concert ever was in 1995 when I was 9. Boyz II Men with Montell Jordan opening, in Jacksonville. At the time he was huge for This Is How We Do It. Boyz II Men were huge for a fuckton of songs. It was wild as hell. My mom took me and my brother with one of her younger friends we called our aunt. Mom was not prepared lol.
Montell had a squad of female dancers clad in nothing but short trenchcoats and there was fake rain falling. People were losing their minds. Boyz II Men came out in all their mid 90s glory and played for probably 2 hours. So many hits. And at the end, a weird box/spaceship thing dropped down from the ceiling and they got into it and there was a huge flash and it "disappeared". I still don't know where to š¤«
It was really something though. I didn't go on to be a singing and dancing R&B star like I originally wanted to but I was sufficiently impacted that my brother and i did eventually start a rock and roll band and that was years of fun and excitement. Wild shit lol

Hello. We saw The Spin Doctors this past summer in Denverā¦they were great. Still tight and a hell of a lot of fun.

My mom brought me to see Billy Joel and Elton John at Rich Stadium in Buffalo. We packed into a mini van and all the non driving adults had roadies. They told me it was hard the best show I was ever going to see was my first one. It was the height of both of their touring fame... it was great.

I was 5 and Cinderella was opening for Judas Priest at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center. I didnāt know either band. The name āJudas Priestā sounded cool to me, so I wanted to go for my birthday. The only thing I remember was asking my father why the band was called Cinderella, followed by his response - a shrug of the shoulders and āI donāt know. Maybe because they have long hair?ā - apparently I didnāt stay awake very long into the show.

My first was Pink Floyd. Division Bell tour. It was awesome but later saw Beastie Boys after Ill Communication came out. Core memory for sure.

I'm surprised so many people people didn't go to a concert until the 90s (if I'm reading the answers correctly vs being the most memorable). My whole family went to a New Edition concert in the 80s. I can't remember who the opening acts were, but they were also known R&B acts. I was at the "Live In Memphis" concert Celine Dion has out on video/YouTube (it was actually two concerts meshed together to look like one, and I was at the first night), and that's why it's the most memorable. I was right in front of the camera setup.

First show was Tool, Fitchburg Arena in Fitchburg MA, February 1997. Rescheduled from November of 1996 because Maynard got a gnarly illness and couldnāt sing. Wish I could live it again. I was 17, went with my best friends in the whole world, one of the last great memories of my adolescence before life started kicking me in the ass due to no fault of my own (homeless at 17 like three weeks later, alcoholic grandmother raising me, yay fun.)

My first concert was New Kids on the Block. My second concert was also New Kids on the Block.

First concert was Tim McGraw opening for Wynonna in 1994.
First concert I went without parents/bought my own ticket was Wallflowers & Counting Crows in 1997.
C_Me@reddit
Yeah, I saw Counting Crows maybe a few years later around 2000-02. One of my earliest concerts.
Would have liked to catch one of those Garth Brooks concerts when he was at his height⦠some of them set records for crowd sizes.

Paula Abdul, 1991, Under My Spell tour at the Coliseum near Cleveland - I was 11 and it was amazing. Color Me Badd opened.

I saw this tour too!

Red Hot Chili Peppers with Muse and Foo Fighters opening. David Grohl came off the stage at one point and started walking through the crowd. Came up to the second level and stood about 10 feet away, drinking a beer someone had handed him and soaking up the whole thing. It was awesome

Beck on the Loser tour in 1994 followed by Green Day on the Dookie tour a few months later. Both were incredible.

I'm so jealous of the other comments! :)
My first concert was Metallica in 1997. I was in 10th grade and I'm pretty sure it was a school night. How I got my mom to let me go to that, I'll never know.
They put on a damn good show, too.

Whitney Houston when I was 8. My most memorable was Green Day when I was around 16. My friend and I were in the very front, holding onto the bar. There was a lot of crowd surfing and someone fell down on her and she got knocked unconscious.

I saw a couple others that were fine but not my faves (Silverchair, Everclear, Foo Fighters) before going to see Tori Amos in August 1996. Tori was my everything then, and the album Boys for Pele had recently come out. She played a piano, harpsichord, and organ that night. She humped the piano bench. She played a bunch of my favorites. She played Purple Rain. I was in tears.

Best concert I ever went to was Green Day at ā98 Edgefest in Montreal.
