Did anyone actually get this?

I've seen multiple posts under multiple subreddits about the GI Joe aircraft carrier. But, this was my white whale. Never got it. However, always have pined for it. Did anyone actually have this? Was it all that you hoped it would be?
trk29@reddit
My sister bought be both for Christmas.
ServinBallSnacks@reddit
I had this plus skeletors castle, one of them had a microphone too
WodensEye@reddit
I had skeletons too. It’s the one that had the microphone (giant snake I believe)
BlamRob@reddit
Snake Mountain had a plastic tube with a spring inside that would make your voice funny when you talked into it. lol
ApatheistHeretic@reddit
Yep! That was fun.
SampsonSimpon@reddit
Snake mountain !!
Ridere_et_nutu@reddit
Snake Mountain (Skeletor's castle) had the microphone; a voice-changing (echo effect type thing) snake head microphone. My cousin had it and I was totally obsessed with it.
OppositeRun6503@reddit
One of my neighbors had it,man I was so jealous.
Reminds me of a similar situation when I was still living in DC, our neighbor in the apartment below us had a green machine while I was stuck on a regular big wheel.
StatusDuty1238@reddit
I had green machine all the well of wyte kids had power wheel smh
OppositeRun6503@reddit
By the time power wheels hit the market I was already too big for them.
Sodamyte@reddit
I recall Hordak's Fright zone having the giant snake glove..
Sirtriplenipple@reddit
Was this the one that had a snake you wore as a glove that came out of a cave?
Svenderhof@reddit
In the 90s, well after I was done using the thing, my dad unscrewed the speaker box and microphone and would use it when answering the door for trick or treaters. I think he ended up getting as much joy out of it as I had in the 80s.
ServinBallSnacks@reddit
Yes! One of the best toys I ever had
FewPiece138@reddit
Same, my parents were saints. I yelled into that thing all Christmas morning
TheDangDeal@reddit
So did I. I very distinctly remember my HeMan Christmas.
Pixiefairy2525@reddit
And bonus question. Do you remember the He-Man/She-Ra Christmas special,?
YesHaveSome77@reddit
I have that on DVD! 🤣🤣
TheDangDeal@reddit
I remember it, but didn’t have it on VHS, so it isn’t a core memory
RelevantFilm2110@reddit
It was on cable channels too cheap for other Christmas content. Like TBS every damn year. It's pretty much all I remember from the franchise, since I was a bit too young to remember either of the original runs very well. It's somewhat worth it for being so bad it's hilarious, and despite the weird setting, it has a sort of Peanuts Christmas moment when a character explains the religious significance of Christmas. Which is out of place in context but adds to the LOLs.
TheDangDeal@reddit
Yeah, but the movies we owned on VHS would get played over and over again if I liked them. I remember watching Goonies 3 times in a day one summer.
gravityhomer@reddit
We were young enough that our parents were in the open the toys and set it all out era. Coming down the stairs to see this castle and a bunch of he-man all set up ready to be played with, I will never forget that Christmas morning.
Blazenkks@reddit
Agreed! Always had 1 “Santa Claus” present that was left out unwrapped.
PAEIG@reddit
Magical!
TheDangDeal@reddit
Yes! I don’t even remember hearing the song, but when I saw a whole HeMan city laid out around the tree, I started singing “I’m in Heaven” loud enough to wake the whole house.
No_Attention_2227@reddit
To this day I'm telling my wife not to buy noise making toys (at least for our kids). But she doesn't listen
jpowell180@reddit
Years back when visiting my younger brother, I was sleeping in the basement when one of my nephew’s toys started making annoying sounds, keeping me from sleeping; I was in a basement guest room with a large storage closet, so it took me a while to find the toy, only to discover that not only was there no “off” button, but the battery compartment needed a screwdriver to open, so I had to hunt for one of those before I could finally get some sleep, lol!
vanwiekt@reddit
That happened to me once at my sister’s one Christmas, also in the basement bedroom. The toy had no switch and a screwed in battery. I placed it in the chest freezer that was in the storage room next to the basement bedroom. 🥶
smuckola@reddit
i'm sorry to have to break this to ya, but maybe try sign language
solemn_penguin@reddit
She probably can't hear you over the sounds of all those noise making toys
ServinBallSnacks@reddit
My favorite was to take my WWF wrestlers and have them attack the castle. They were like super he-men, and also the iron sheik
Opening-Restaurant83@reddit
I took my MASK figures and made them the castle slaves
_1JackMove@reddit
I had the 18” (or thereabouts) rubber Hulk Hogan you could bend and throw around almost like an oversized Stretch Armstrong. I also had an oversized pillow in the shape of Hogan that was meant for throwing around besides just sleeping on it lol.
sleepwalkfromsherdog@reddit
"He-man, you summanabeetch! I suplexa you, put you in camel clutch, breaka you back, and make you humble! Ee-rahn numbah one! Eternia? Hock-tooey!"
Maleficent_Gas5417@reddit
I did this too, and I also had my he man toys wrestle in my wwf ring. What a time to be alive
Old_Car_2702@reddit
I would make a royal rumble with with my he-man, thunder cat, and silver hawk action figures.
Alternative-Light514@reddit
“I have the POWER!”
SqueezeBoxJack@reddit
More like, "Ah..I uh...have the power baba. Can you lift the persian clubs or are you a Jabroni?"
MojoHighway@reddit
Ultimatesims@reddit
Possible-Feature-977@reddit
man, that combo sounds epic, like childhood dreams coming true for real
Caelarch@reddit
Man, I had both castles, a dozen vehicles and at least 50 or individual hero and villains. And got rid of most of it my twenties because for was “childish” and silly to have kids toys. Big regrets. I’d love to have some of those things to put my hand on something from my past again.
RangerFan80@reddit
Fuck, my parents threw them all away when we moved in 1994. Insane.
vanwiekt@reddit
Check the prices of them on eBay. 🤯💰💸
inghostlyjapan@reddit
I think snake mountain had a mic. I left it out in the rain once and it never worked again.
StatusDuty1238@reddit
I did but when I did get them it be a thrift or Goodwill incomplete 🤣
PackageNorth8984@reddit
I didn’t have this, but I did have the Ghostbusters proton pack.
Z28Malibu4life@reddit
I had skeletors castle and it had the microphone that looked like a snake.
TankDiveGirl@reddit
Same, I had both of those, and the plane thing that hooked to the top of the castle, and a bunch of other stuff.
jdavidmcgregor@reddit
Snake Mountain
Drslappybags@reddit
Snake Mountain, I believe.
dubin01@reddit
Skeletors had the mic
Canadatron@reddit
Snake Mpubtain had the snake with the spring in it. I had it but my parents refused to ever buy the slime.
Cinderhazed15@reddit
It was funny that there were different slimes…. H-man slime vs ghostbusters vs TMNT ooze, all with varying stickiness, consistency, and rate of drying out.
Cinderhazed15@reddit
We (my older brother) had snake mountain , and hordak’s layer, but we never got grey skull….. (he had the big spider walker and a bunch of other vehicles as well)
SkepticalXennial@reddit
Snake mountain has the microphone
XxFezzgigxX@reddit
The box had a kid with the quote “I AM THE VOICE OF SNAKE MOUNTAIN!”
We said that over and over and over until my mom took the batteries.
One-Earth9294@reddit
Parents just don't understand.
Accomplished_Exit_30@reddit
I asked her for addidas and she bought me Zips.
mhyquel@reddit
The pro-move, now that I'm a parent: Put some clear packing tape over the speaker grill area.
Cuts the noise by 50%, and your kids don't even know.
RipMcStudly@reddit
Skeketor had the mic. I got Nerds wedged in mine. Probably grape ones.
Less_Likely@reddit
I remember the microphone
quaketoys@reddit
They’re fairly common. We get them in the store all the time.
ElectricPenguin6712@reddit
I had that one too. My parents made me play in the den with that one lol
p8nt_junkie@reddit
walkwithdrunkcoyotes@reddit
Snake Mountain! God that microphone was noisy. Good times.
Still_Strawberry8134@reddit
My friend had it, but I don’t remember the mic. He probably killed it long before I ever saw it. I had she-ra’s crystal palace so I’d come girlify his house every so often with the other half of the IP
FalseVeterinarian881@reddit
Skeletons did.
Any_Positive1617@reddit
Which one had the catapult? We had that one! 🤣
Tangential_Comment@reddit
I had this one, best friend as a kid had the one with the mic. When Mom came to pick me up at his house once, she heard how loud it was. She was so happy she didn't get me that one...
javarunner@reddit
Me too! I got castle greyskull one year and snake mountain the next year. I DEFINITELY yelled into that microphone on christmas morning. lol. Did Greyskull have haze? I feel like I remember filling the back of it with water and there being batteries and it generated cool steam?
grumpythenick@reddit
Same. I had both.
SweetCosmicPope@reddit
Yup! I also had both. Snake Mountain had the microphone.
vindicatorx1@reddit
Yeah we had Snake Mountain and Castle Greyskull nice thing about there being 3 of us my mom was like you all better like the same toys cause we always got combined gifts.
Pharmere@reddit
One had slime too I think
beat_u2_it@reddit
It was skeletor’s that had the mic
Fkappa@reddit
The Snake Mountain had it.
Frosty_Cloud_2888@reddit
Snake Mountain with the microphone was bomb.
n8ertheh8er@reddit
I had castle greyskull, skeletor’s castle, and the lair of the evil horde. In that one you could pour slime all over the captives and it came out of a dinosaur skull, super cool. My rich friend had Eternia, which was massive and had a monorail
Dense_Surround3071@reddit
I think this is the one I had. With the slime.
OppositeRun6503@reddit
Git this for Christmas in 84 but unfortunately never got the snake mountain playset.
Puglet_7@reddit
My brother had one. I found Snake Mountain a few years back in thrift store. My brothers kid was into He-Man at the time.
skaomatic32@reddit
I’d definitely had the one with the microphone!
xlerate@reddit
I'll never forget when my friend down the block got this in the '80s. We were at his birthday party and he opened this up and every other boy in the room gasped. He was the Envy of the entire class. Not only Castle Greyskull, but he got Battlecat, Man at Arms, Beastman and Skeletor as side gifts.
That was my first realization that there were different levels or middle class.
Moons_of_Moons@reddit
I had it. Awesome
Illustrious_Profile6@reddit
I wasn't even really a fan of he-man but my Dad must have found the motherboard of a garage sale or close out sale because one day my brother and I had like every he-man toy ever made in a giant box, both castles, the figures the vehicles... I actually felt guilty cause I thought the action figures and the show sucked compared to gi-joe and transformers but I did my best to play with their non bendy selves.
welldonecow@reddit
I still have mine. My nephews play with it in their basement. It’s still awesome.
TheEndTrend@reddit
YES, AND I FREAKING LOVED IT!!! Christmas of....1988, I think.
ibanezht@reddit
Had it and Skeletor's Castle, HORDE had something too that would drop slime and I had that as well. Mom sold my entire He-man collection 20 years ago for $25 bucks at a yard sale and laughed about it.
dianabowl@reddit
I begged for the slime pit but was denied every time by my parents. So I built a 1/4 scale one in my room.
Remytron83@reddit
I did! Fun times.
ApprehensiveWay337@reddit
No...but my "rich" cousin did. I loved going to his house. RIP Dee Dee
mprieur@reddit
I had this and im a girl but a super long time ago I remember this in my messy room lol
ghandi3737@reddit
I want the one from megablocks.
monkey_butt_powder@reddit
My neighbor was an only child who’s dad worked a lot of nights and didn’t see him a lot. He had all this shit.
Garudius@reddit
Had this and Snake Mountain.
Got Castle Grayskull for Christmas, Dad was able to get the last one in the store cause it was on the Top-shelf and some lady that was also there was too short.
ShivvyMcFly@reddit
You're damn right I did
mrdirtman13@reddit
Fuck yeah. Must have been 82-83. I never got Snake Mountain, though.
Mudassar40@reddit
A friend had it all. Castle Grayskull, Metroplex, that large truck from Mask, you name it.
Jebidiah_Honeynut_jr@reddit
I got that for Christmas. I remember loving the smell of the plastic, for some reason. Also, it was also the first toy I had where I appreciated it for the art aspect of it. Whoever designed it really did a great job.
WaywardMind@reddit
Hells yeah I did. (You can see the box in the back and a bunch of He-Man toys) 1983 . . . my best xmas.
https://imgur.com/a/Yw41stt
morganalefaye125@reddit
I wanted one SOOOO badly! But I'm a girl, and was told that toy was for boys 😑
ghoster32111@reddit
This is a core memory for me. This was the best Christmas ever. I received the castle greyskull ans snake moutain from my Grandparents because my grandfather was awesome. And my parents got me a ton of he-man figures, and transformers. It was the last Christmas where I was an only child because my brother was born on the following year. But man when I think of Christmas that is the one I think about as I was over the moon happy. My grandfather said I made it to high up on the nice list so Santa took care of me. We are really italian so he actually said that word for word.
YesHaveSome77@reddit
Christmas when I was 6, got He-Man, Skeletor, Beast-Man and Castle Grayskull. Started an obsession that cost my parents quite a bit. I had probably 95% of everything they put out.
Efficient_Shame_8539@reddit
I had this and my favorite part was I remember a sticker of a dungeon with hands and stuff reaching out of it trying to get out.
Once I was over He-Man I used Castle Grayskull for Castle Plun-darr for my Thundercats bad guys and set it up across from my Cats Lair.
Left-Eye183@reddit
My brother had this along with so many of the action figures.
Cigarrauuul@reddit
I still have this.
theguineapigssong@reddit
Yes, and it was GLORIOUS
Rarefindofthemind@reddit
I had She-Ra and the She-Ra Castle
Defconwrestling@reddit
I had it but as a hand me down from someone else. My dad just showed up with a trash bag with like 30 figures and the castle.
Later he joined a Pentecostal church and took them all away. No TV either.
A month later I went to the preacher’s grandson’s birthday and he got the fucking USS FLAGG!
Violent toys my ass!
Strange-Employee-520@reddit
Not me, but my best friend had it so that was just as good! Core memory.
PurpleAriadne@reddit
My brother had it
LasagnahogXRP@reddit
A couple of my friends had it, Scotty had snake mountain too.
Dang_Boy82@reddit
I got it. Apparently my dad had to drive to the next county across on Christmas Eve to meet a salesman who had the last one in the shop put aside for me. Played that thing to death. No idea where it ended up though. Maybe in my parents attic
DazzlingAmbassador60@reddit
YES!!!! I was obsessed. I had castle Greyskull, Skeletors castle, a playset with a green snake that moved you in a pit, and the slime dump, which was an animal skull thing that you filled with slime, then tipped it down to cover the enemy. I also had some kind of ufo spinny thing that clicked as it spun. It was black and red I think. Like a rover vehicle kind of thing. Gosh, those were good days!!
camptastic_plastic@reddit
I had Snake Mountain and the slime pit.
revd_blue_jeans@reddit
Yes, I had it. The real question should be if anyone owned the original Eternia play-set, which is far more rare.
Old_District_9667@reddit
I had this and the other. I was spoiled badly.
Happy-For-No-Reason@reddit
Oh man, I actually had this.
And Skeletors one, too.
taterbug2000@reddit
I had the castle… most of the action figures. Even had Battlecat! Xmas 1984 was a big one for me cuz of Masters of the Universe.
Holeyfield@reddit
It was awesome!
plagiarismtoday@reddit
I had it, it was also how I first definitively learned Santa wasn't real.
My parents got it for me for Christmas when I was 6 or 7. They didn't have a place to hide it in the house, so they stuck it in their bedroom and told my brother and me not to play in there.
Anyway, sometime during Christmas break, I forgot. Went in there looking for my brother during hide-and-seek and found this by the bed. It was still a happy Christmas and a great memory, but there was no holding out hope for Santa after that...
Ralinor@reddit
Still have it. Sitting right next to snake mountain
Mr-Hoek@reddit
Yes, I had it, and kept it...and my wife sold it at at our yard sale for $10.00.
SatoshisBits@reddit
My Friend across the road had this and all the HeMan figures plus all the TMNT figures and cars and heaps of other cool toys.
Im stilll jealous
BallsWilliger@reddit

My first memory of a mind blowing toy.
drimmie@reddit
I had castle gray skull! ❤️
MightyCaseyStruckOut@reddit
You can get it for $70 now.
Country_Gravy420@reddit
I had castle greyskull and about 8 of the action figures, including the little wizard guy that had one of those notched things you pulled to make him run around.
woodenmittens@reddit
Orko!
SqueezeBoxJack@reddit
Best Christmas/Hanukkah ever. The NES Christmas being number 2.
I got Grayskull, Point Dread and the Talon Fighter, and the battle ram for Christmas and the figures for Hanukkah.
Dad put everything together and I proceeded to take Point Dread apart. He had the "Son of a...he broke it already" look until I mounted the top part on Grayskull. Then I yanked the Sky-Sled off the battle ram and He-Man on it. My dad raised both arms and yelled, "Kids a genius!!"
My mom, and I know this was more of a reaction on her part says, "Eh, maybe not so much" then adding, "..but he is a good boy". I give her shit every holiday. "It's your boy the not so much genius, but a good boy none the less".
MoRiSALA@reddit
My parents still have my brother's castle grayskull.
kyberRebyk@reddit
My little cousin did, and I hated him for it.
Mookieman707@reddit
Is this the one where green slime drops? I had the slime one and this packaging looks like it... was my favorite toy for a long time and my parents absolutely hated it
PopularPlankton3948@reddit
I had this. All my he-man toys were lost when we moved. I was 7. Still bums me out.
TheMadDaddy@reddit
No, He-Man always creeped me out.
AnimatedVixen99@reddit
My older brother had it. He eventually passed it down to me. It was fun.
Nacho_Sideboob@reddit
I got it from a garage sale, but it was it all there. It was awesome.
ProblemLongjumping12@reddit
Friend had it. I was surprised how little there was to it. Usually a big base has a lot of action features.
Past-Adhesiveness150@reddit
I think my brother did
jennylou303@reddit
I wanted that so bad! One of my friends had it... which means you know, none of the other parents had to buy it... since one of us had it then we could all play with it 😕
thecrazycelt@reddit
I did!
lrpalomera@reddit
I did! 84 it was
wtgriffi@reddit
I’m still chasing that high of seeing this under the tree Christmas morning 37 years ago.
notactuallyacupcake@reddit
I got the girls' version of this uber-toy: My Little Pony Paradise Estates. My friends went far more apeshit than I did when tore the first sliver of wrapping paper off on my 7th bday, lol.
WoodpeckerHorror3099@reddit
My mom got me one second hand, it felt new to me
BalrogRuthenburg11@reddit
Yes, I still have this.
Possible-Tip-2914@reddit
I did. Too bad I was too you g to understand the original lore.
Chakachavers@reddit
My cousin had it, he was 3 years older than me. I was a She-Ra girl myself ... But we would still play He Man as I didn't have any siblings and all of his were much older sisters.
frostedsun8282@reddit
No but i had the slime pit and a he man tent.
koopapeaches19@reddit
One of my best fiends had it, I loved playing with it! I wanted one so bad lol!
weezie_lou@reddit
Oh muh gosh, a kid I played with once had this set. The one time I played with it, it was the COOLEST thing ever. I think I liked the trap door and pew pews? Although looking at the pictures, they don’t seem all that amazing. But I’m not 8 anymore.

I did, but I’m almost certain it was a hand me down from older cousins.
pawned79@reddit
I still have mine!
mkct_6@reddit
I still have it
Boring_Pace5158@reddit
My mom looked at the price tag and noped it. Because my sisters are a lot older than me, I used their dollhouse as Castle GreySkull. Looking back, this taught me how to improvise and make the best with what I had
ChristyLovesGuitars@reddit
I got it for Christmas! I absolutely played the hell out of that set.
djsynrgy@reddit
I thought I did, but when I looked it up, I realized my memory had conflated some details over time, now corrected.
I'd wanted Castle Grey Skull; Santa brought me the Slime Pit. My distorted memory had combined them, but seeing the picture of the slime pit brought it all back: The slime was really only good for one use, and then the whole toy was kinda ruined by the slime residue.
I remember being so into He-Man, right up until the Dolph Lundgren movie came out. My cousin and I convinced my aunt to take us to see it, but even as its target audience, we thought it was terrible, and ended up with some serious jealousy towards the folks who made the wiser choice to see Willow. 😆
Blazenkks@reddit
I may have gotten in a bunch of trouble for Slime getting all up in the green shag carpet in my room. Was impossible to get out of the shaggy fibers 🤣. And left a gross stained spot for years 🤣.
Chicken_Water@reddit
Literally still have mine. Thinking it might be time to sell soon since my kids are getting older and don't care much about it anymore.
Blazenkks@reddit
There’s actually a really good Documentary from 2017. Called The Power of Greyskull: The definitive history of He-Man. I saw it on Tubi not long ago. And I think recall them saying that the Castle Greyskull playsets were all hand painted so they were all different and kinda unique.
Only-Friend-8483@reddit
I had this.
OPs_Real_Father@reddit
My cousin had it, the lucky bastard.
forgetful_waterfowl@reddit
my friend had it, but I got the GI Joe F14 with real moving wings, I think we were both jealous.
Notarealname93@reddit
I had Greyskull and Skeletors castle and they’re both still in the attic at my moms lol
Blazenkks@reddit
Yep, pretty sure it’s still in my Mom’s garage someplace. Blessing and curse of a semi hoarder lol.
hwcbyrd@reddit
Had this and it was amazing. My cousin got this and snake mountain one Christmas.
FlatRooster4561@reddit
I had it, and it was glorious
AfternoonPast3324@reddit
Best birthday present I ever received.
Nightstone42@reddit
yea i was all in on heman. the only toys, I didn't have from that line Were the 2 giant figures that were only released in Europe and the 3 towers because it cost a $100 at the time, which was INSANE for the time hell i only ever saw them in person recently as an adult (honnestly i would have had no place for it it was huge)
muhredditone@reddit
I had a cousin who had it, and I got it for my daughters at a garage sale when they were young, in like 2010, or so. Got the Snake Mountain one there, too.
Felinius@reddit
I had this, snake mountain, and the one with the claw that dumped slime on the figures… the third one was the only one I got new, Greyskull and Snake Mountain I got yard sales XD
Few-Emergency5971@reddit
Now im sad all over again
schoolisuncool@reddit
I had this one, snake mountain, and ETERNIA!! lost them all in a garage fire in like 2001
chinacatsf@reddit
Yep, and She-Ra crystal Castle. The bed had a little pulley system that went to the top - I put our pet frog in it and would give it a ride. Good old days
Ltimbo@reddit
My childhood white whale was a Power Wheels. It was really sleazy of them to advertise to all us regular kids who they knew couldn’t afford them. There were Power Wheels commercials in every day after school and no nine could afford them.
Jagg811@reddit
I got this for my son when he was into He-Man. He had so many of the figurines and just love playing with them in Castle Grayskull. Then his little brother came along and ripped all their heads and limbs off.
EfficientFish_14@reddit
My brother had that. I may have gotten my hands on his Orko & Thunder Punch He-Man recently. Those two were my favorites.
spottedrabbitz@reddit
My cousin did, he was a boy so he could get stuff like that. I was a girl and I got the Barbie pool of watery bullshit. I wanted skulls and Battle Cats and castles of Doom dammit
Alternative-Light514@reddit
My mom claimed she still had mine, safe in the attic. When I had a kid and wanted to pass on all of my remaining toys, it was not in the attic. Only He Man toy that remained was my naked battle cat, so just a green tiger
CFeatsleepsexrepeat@reddit
Naked Battle Cat? Just a green tiger???
It's Cringer!
Accomplished_Exit_30@reddit
My older brother said he was going to dip my Battle Cat in Chrome a d mount it on the hood of his 68 Mercury Cougar.
_1JackMove@reddit
That would have been fucking awesome. I’m with your brother on that one. I’d have recognized that cat right away lol.
Accomplished_Exit_30@reddit
I'd kind.of want to do that too
Cinderhazed15@reddit
Oh man…. I just saw a video about ‘mirror paint metalizer’ https://www.facebook.com/share/r/1arrVvmWvG/?mibextid=wwXIfr
Accomplished_Exit_30@reddit
Ooh! Thats cool!
Porcupine__Racetrack@reddit
We had this too! My mom got rid of all our cool shit without even asking! Star Wars toys, my little ponies, tons of stuff!
HuckleberryOk150@reddit
Same here. All my toys that went missing were "safe in the attic." When I got older, I figured they were all sold or given away. I was shocked when I visited other houses and the kids had all their toys.
DrChansLeftHand@reddit
I did! It was awesome! But the action figures relative to the size of the toys meant that the characters were waaay big or the castle “looked bigger on the show.” :)
TheRabidGoose@reddit
We had one. I found after we moved States away as kids, somehow many of our beloved toys didn't make the journey with us...thanks mom and dad.
ImprovementEconomy59@reddit
I was literally the only kid in my neighborhood who didn’t have it
rayfin@reddit
Yes. It's in my attic now. I retrieved it a few years ago from my parents.

I thought every little dude had this. (Man, I loved that trap door when I was a kid, damn. haha)
charliefussel@reddit
Me! I still have it and now my boys play with it!
zarifex@reddit
Not in perfect condition, but earlier this year I received both my old Castle Grayskull (and after 40 years, why have I never pointed out that i's green and not gray?) and Snake Mountain, as part of a bunch of my old things my sister sent me from the house where we grew up.
Adh1434@reddit
I had a cast of gray skull. Plus snake mountain
mackelnuts@reddit
I had this. It was home to both my He Man and my Thundercats figurines. They were in the same universe as far as 6 year old me was concerned
Own-Switch-8112@reddit
It was fucking awesome. I took such good care of it that I was able to give it to my seven-year-old sons and their friends came over during a birthday party and wrecked most of it.
xxlittlemissj@reddit
My parents still have my brother's old Snake Mountain. The microphone still works!
AkumaYearOne@reddit
We had that one until my dad sold it. He sold a lot of our toys
TermusMcFlermus@reddit
I had this. I remember it was all put together already and my parents had basically just laid some wrapping paper over the top. No tape or anything. It was awesome.
PeriodicTableDancer0@reddit
My brother had this castle, the microphone on it was so bad it was almost comical!
Theoskaroskar@reddit
I rooted for Skeletor
sevalle13@reddit
I had this! My white whale was Voltron. Always wanted that but never got it. It was $55 at Toys R Us and back then that was a grip of money. It's the only toy that I remember the price of to this day lol
Costco_Law_Degree@reddit
I got that Voltron. The full diecast and painted version, right?
Recalled less than a month later, all of them painted with lead. Dream crushed.
putangspangler@reddit
Yep, came and went so fast. Ultimately replaced with a plastic one
Z0na@reddit
Yes, I got that Voltron. I threatened to stop believing in Santa if I didn't get it.
zenerNoodle@reddit
Really? Lead? Ah, man, that sucks.
A kid on the bus brought his to school one day. It was the only one I ever saw, and it looked so fucking cool. I'm sure my memory of it is better than the real thing, but, damn, did I want one. I remember trying to describe it to my mom and having just an unreasonably difficult time.
Sometime later (maybe that same year) we were in a store and there was a giant plastic Voltron. My mother asked if that was what I had been talking about (my heart melts to remember that she had been listening and understood and wanted to make me happy), and I described how the cool one was smaller and metal. Alas.
Malacolyte@reddit
Voltron was my white whale as well. Jumped at the chance when LEGO made a version a few years back, and still one of the most underrated LEGO sets in my opinion...
sevalle13@reddit
I picked up the Lego one as well. Also went online and found some minifigs from China to put on display with the set!
pettyvillainy@reddit
I had essentially the same story. My birthday is only a couple months later, and that's when I did get the full Voltron set.
The car one.
OppositeRun6503@reddit
I remember the matchbox voltron retailing for as much as 100 bucks.....why out of my parent's price range for a simple toy.
OffMyRocker62@reddit
My nephew did....
And the show, Wizards and Warriors? He called them .. Lizards and Lawyers ... LOL
Adventurous-Depth984@reddit
raises hand
8ran60n@reddit
Yup I had this. I also had the GI Joe aircraft carrier.
Divorced parents had its perks and non-perks later in life :)
LadyWalks@reddit
Nah, but I somehow got the Technodrome.
biggeer@reddit
I got it, I still have it actually
CallMeSkii@reddit
My brother had almost all the MOTU stuff back in the 80s but it was lost thrown away over the years. I gave him a Castle Grayskull for Christmas 2 years ago and Snake Mountain last year.
hextasy@reddit
Yep, I had one. The door would drop all heavy like. Buddy had the skeleton one with the spring in the microphone to sound all spooky!
Sukford@reddit
This was the gift I received for my tonsillectomy when I was in 2nd grade.
BadLuckEddie@reddit
I had it all. And squandered it all in the early 80s through moving, yard sales, and growing up, passing down to my brothers. And Star Wars. Yea.
cdizzle6@reddit
MadCatDisease666@reddit
My brother had it.
LumpyWelder4258@reddit
No, but i had the She ra Crystal Castle
OvenFriendly1818@reddit
I had skelators castle
Yellow_Curry@reddit
No, my parents sadly never got divorced. Could have gotten this AND the U.S.S Flagg
JeffTS@reddit
I had it and it’s still sitting in my basement.
Some_Ad9065@reddit
My brother got this! Even I (a Barbie loving girl) loved playing with it.
jonnydregs84@reddit
I had it, wish I still did too
Formal_Analysis6295@reddit
Yes, my bro and I got this. It was awesome.
Lyt_Diamond_Hands@reddit
I had this it was awesome. I can’t believe my mom sold all my figures and castle probably for a $5 bundle at a garage sale…
Melodic_War327@reddit
Yeah, I had this. It was nowhere near as hard to get hold of as the aircraft carrier. Also nowhere near as big, although it was a cool playset.
Over_Strawberry_2373@reddit
My cousin did!
Dakkin4@reddit
Yes I had it. It was awesome!
hathegkla@reddit
Yep. I think we got it at a yard sale. It might have been skeletors castle but it was pretty cool and in decent shape.
sonorandosed@reddit
I had this and Snake Mountain
quesoviejo@reddit
I made my first Castle Grayskull out of spray painted cardboard boxes. It didn’t survive a battle involving Evil Lynn shooting fire balls, which were simulated using a lighter we had found. Got the real deal 3 months later.
devonchaos@reddit
Hells yes! It was so fun!
Suspicious_Ear3442@reddit
Nah. I was a TMNT kid.
Educational_Bed3589@reddit
My brother had it.
FigureFourWoo@reddit
Yes. And I have one now.
beachluvr13@reddit
We had this!
SuccessfulOwl@reddit
You know that fantasy kids have about finding amazing treasure at the local tip/dump site?
That was me, my friends. 40yrs ago I found a full Castle Greyskull at the local rubbish tip. No box but the playset itself was just sitting on top of a pile.
I gave it a new home, years of play were had.
New_Needleworker_473@reddit
I had the Princess of Power Crystal Castle. I loved it!!! My brother had Greyskull. We had wars. It was epic 80's awesome!.
spderweb@reddit
I HAVE the snake mountain one where the wolf head IS a microphone. The mic/speaker no longer work though. Age got to the electronics. BUT, my robot Spider from She-ra is still able to walk.
LooksLikeAWookie@reddit
Fuck yes
LunaCCL@reddit
I had it and loved it!
BigBabyWhale@reddit
And Snake Mountain.
nate_7667@reddit
Yeah i had it and 95% of the accessories up until i sold everything. Along with a good many figures, their gear, and some vehicles.
Sold the He-Man stuff 2 years ago along with my Voltron castle, figures, the lions (the ones the figures fit into) and the accessories for the figures, castle, and the sword and ninja star looking shield for Voltron. And some Thundercat figures and their gear.
Kept them for long time. The rubber band type connections holding the arms and legs on was starting to dry rot. I have no kids to hand them down, or the space/desire to display.
OppositeRun6503@reddit
IIRC only the legs had elastic bands, the arms simply had a peg and hole joint.
nate_7667@reddit
Good info. I never looked, or thought of looking. They were in boxes, somewhat in the way. And no intent on doing anything with them. So down the road they went and close to a couple grand in my pocket. It all worked out.
tikix3room@reddit
You can buy He-bands online to repair them. They aren’t hard to fix once you get the part.
Readyplayernr17@reddit
Nope,we were too poor but my best friend had it so we played alot. I brought my He-Man figures to his house and we had a blast.
Ultimatesims@reddit
Yes, but I could only drag it out with permission. It smelled like glorious plastic.
Cheezslap@reddit
They're still out there, Friend.

Responsible_Park3317@reddit
Yeah. Grandparents got my brother and I both castles for Christmas one year.
camarhyn@reddit
We had two of them.
dredgehayt@reddit
I had this The best toy was the TMNT pizza shooter mobile
Adventurous_Tea_428@reddit
My brother did but I wasn't allowed to play with it. He got really upset if I touched any of his He-Man toys. He was 3 years older than me and constantly told me I wasn't allowed to play with any of his He-Man toys because I was a girl.
im_rickyspanish@reddit
I did get it, but I was so young I don't remember. The pictures from Christmas morning are epic though!
JoeFromStPaul@reddit
Yes, it was awesome.
reapersritehand@reddit
I knew a older kid that had all 3 castles, but wasn't allowed to play with em, they were just in his closet and his mom wouldn't let him play with them
BillyOcean8Words@reddit
Yep. Snake Mountain too. Lucky kid.
guidevocal82@reddit
I never had it, but one of my friends did. I would play with it at his house.
TheDevauto@reddit
My cousin did. He loved it but it died in a long battle that involved some m80s and bottle rockets. Plastic really stinks whennit burns.
GrandPipe4@reddit
My brother had it and I liked to play Barbies with it.
RHB1027@reddit
I had friends that did… I never got into He-Man. All I remember is everything was broken lol. Maybe they were super rough with it.
seanalltogether@reddit
I only owned one because I won a Halloween costume contest at our local Ames department store (anyone remember those?) and that was the top prize. Years later my mom hinted that I had likely won out of pity cause they knew how poor we were. It was definitely the most expensive toy I had.
BrokeAssZillionaire@reddit
Yes had the set - it was like getting a PlayStation/xbox back in the day
red286@reddit
A friend of mine had this. Plus a whole bunch of other He-Man stuff.
Sadly, I had this weird eurotoy upbringing. LEGO, model train sets, model racing sets. No toys that involved violence/weapons allowed.
I remember getting grounded for 2 weeks when I was 12 because I saved up my allowance for 2 months and bought a transformer because I was sick of being the only one of my friends who didn't have one.
CalQuetzal@reddit
I did Kid me would say this and my WWF ring were the greatest presents i ever received.
amafalet@reddit
I did, and the Crystal Castle. 🤷♀️ Only child of divorced parents for years, and there were a lot of toys during that period.
DustyRailz@reddit
Sometimes it pays off having your birthday and Christmas in the same week.
Cabusha@reddit
I got that castle in a garage sale. I think i got a He-Man too, but he disappeared quick. Had a lot of fun though with GI Joe storming the green army men in their castle.
Old_Car_2702@reddit
I had snake Mountain with the microphone
acromantulus@reddit
Yup. Had it, Snake Mountain, the Slime Pit, and Hordak’s player.
ciccacicca@reddit
OMG! I was just going through a bucket of old toys to clean for my 6 year old and found that orange and white blaster in the top right pic and thought “man, I’ll never remember what this was from”.
_plays_in_traffic_@reddit
i got two of them on one christmas when the gift givers fucked up.
underfilledtaco@reddit
Yep, still have it in my basement. In hindsight the scale was kind of shot but it only cost something like $34.99 back the
LordLaz1985@reddit
My ex-husband still has his.
Technical-Mind-3266@reddit
I think my brother did, I remember playing with it in my bedroom when I was very young
osddelerious@reddit
My grandmother gave my younger brothers this for Christmas one year. I’m almost certain it had a voice altering microphone on it :-)
reginaphalange790@reddit
My husband still has his and most of the action figures. We used to put the Battle Cat saddle on our kitten. She’d look annoyed, but I think deep down, she enjoyed pretending she was on Eternia
Professor_Hala@reddit
No, but I saw one in the window display at Goodwill several times while growing up. I was always interested in it, but it was pretty pricy used, and we weren't shopping at Goodwill because we were rich.
jpowell180@reddit
Christmas of ‘83, my youngest brother got this! I was a teenager by then and would not have asked for one, but I admit I watched the syndicated cartoon when my little bro did, so I knew the characters and even made an audio spoof of the show on my tape recorder; I played it when we were in a road trip with our grandparents- they must have thought I was in something, lol!
crazyyourface@reddit
I had one yes. My friends in university also had one that they modified to be a working bong. The draw bridge was removed with plexiglass so you could see the castle fill with smoke.
Didn’t work well but I appreciate the effort.
Lucky_Louch@reddit
I did and it was marvelous... Still have some of my original figures but that castle didn't make it sadly.
bootyholeboogalu@reddit
Lol I still have it and snake mountain.
derfzinkerbelle@reddit
Yes, I had this as a kid! Sure wish it was still around.
Majestic_Crew8792@reddit
My rich neighbors had it. I was so jealous, lol
Micahisaac@reddit
Friend had it. It was especially cool since my mom thought it was satanic and I could have any of the fun toys
fesanjani703@reddit
I desperately wanted it but never got it. This and the Death Star playset were my two white whales.
prebisch78@reddit
No, we weren’t rich
MagickMarkie@reddit
I seem to recall having it.
thededucers@reddit
The rich kids. The really rich kids had the GI Joe aircraft carrier
sravll@reddit
I just had skeletors castle
TheGreat_Powerful_Oz@reddit
I had both this and Snake Mountain
brackthomas7@reddit
Got this for Christmas one year. I remember it being being pretty awesome. I wish I would have held on to all my toys from bring a kid especially the Transformers and Magnet men ones
TrixieLaBouche@reddit
No 😭 Was told it was "not for girls" and received My Little Pony stuff instead. Still salty.
Accomplished_Exit_30@reddit
I had a Cabbage Patch kid and a few CareBears.
TrixieLaBouche@reddit
I loved my Care Bears and Sindy (UK Barbie) but what I really wanted was Castle Greyskull.
latebloomer2015@reddit
Yes! My fourth birthday I came home from preschool and there it was. I was so damned excited!!! I got Mossman too! He smelled lovely!
Sidetrackbob@reddit
No, it is awesome. Always wanted it, but as short as we were on cash, my family came through big time with the Ghost Busters firehouse one year for Christmas. That was rad!
Trinikas@reddit
My cousin had this. Granted this cousin had like every toy that I'd ever wanted.
The funny thing is they're selling a lot this stuff again. I don't know about the He-Man stuff but I get targeted advertisements that I can buy the TMNT sewer playset lately.
Unfortunately for targeted advertising I'm the least likely to buy plastic junk that I would have loved as a kid.
PANSIES_FOR_ALL@reddit
I had this along with many other He-Man action figures.
Which my mom threw away when we moved (I was 6). To be fair to her, many of the action figures had seen better days. I was rough on my toys.
Accomplished_Exit_30@reddit
Just shows that they were loved.
Spanks79@reddit
I didn’t. But boy did I want it. A friend had it though.
OwieMustDie@reddit
This, Snake Mountain and the Fright Zone.
Sufficient_Inside917@reddit
Do you want to buy it? Still got it
Clean-Environment284@reddit
Still got it lol
One_Butterscotch7380@reddit
My brother had it — it was fun for hours
TheG0ldG0pher@reddit
Honestly, Snake Mountain was better. Greyskull had a drawbridge, but the mic for Snake MTN. was awesome.
Potential_Shelter624@reddit
Yes. XMas 1985 I got Castle Greyskull & some action figures, Barbie+ vette & Faux Cabbage patch kid so no one would judge my parents for buying me boy toys, lol. It didn’t work, first and last time they got me exactly what I wanted. Best XMas ever
bronze-flamingo@reddit
Yep, and finding it hidden in attic before Christmas was how I learned there was no Santa Claus.
NINJAM7@reddit
I had one that you poured green slime into. It was awesome
Roaminsooner@reddit
Of course
Totally_Botanical@reddit
Yep, and Snake mountain and the fright zone
AggressiveCommand739@reddit
I had it. I got it secondhand. It was awesome. Im not sure what happened to it. It was way more common than the USS Flagg aircraft carrier.
jessdb19@reddit
Yes - although I'm pretty sure I received it 2nd hand because there were no accessories with it, and no stickers on it.
Also had She Ra's castle - again pretty sure it was used
bogeypro@reddit
I had this.
kalidorisconan@reddit
I had it all.
All of it.
Every single figure,
Every single playset.
Every Single vehicle.
I had really awesome grandparents.
MojoHighway@reddit
I absolutely had this. Mom still has it at her house along with all the figurines. He-Man was my jam in the early 80s. I didn't quite get into GI Joe, but He-Man was the shit.
OppositeRun6503@reddit
Was never into gi Joe or star wars toys as motu figures were huge by comparison which gave you more to play with.
Accomplished_Exit_30@reddit
I sort of naturally progressed with MOTU, then the GI Joe/Transformers, to Real Ghostbusters, and ninja turtles for a brief time.
PandaHombre92055@reddit
It was my prized possession as a kid. The trap door was so cool!
nucl3ar0ne@reddit
Get it? Hell my son has it now!
Northwest_Views@reddit
Had it, then it got lost to time. 30 years later my brother found one on eBay and bought it for me. The original box and all, although it smelled of cigarettes I loved it. Had to put that second glorious thing in a box for some time. Well it got moved from my in-laws storage to my BIL house unbeknownst to me. Brother in law tossed the box because he didn’t want the clutter. I asked to get it back from My in laws and they finally confessed to moving it and their son throwing it away.
While I never got another original my wife surprised me with the 2021 version a few Christmas back. It is proudly in my office.
Dabnician@reddit
I had this but i had no friends when i was growing up cause i lived with my grandparents so it was alright.
greaterwhiterwookiee@reddit
We had an old used one for about a year. And then we got evicted from our apartment and just left everything behind including Castle Grayskull. Growing up very poor kind of super sucked.
GDMongorians@reddit
My cousin had it. I’d bring my toys over to his house and we would play for hours making our own episodes up as we went along. He-Man, GI-Joe, Transformers/ (Go bots for us poors)Thunder Cats etc. all a huge part of growing up in the 80’s
CosmicSmoker@reddit
I had just about everything he man before the live action movie
Accomplished_Exit_30@reddit
I had both Greyskull, and Snake Mountain. Also the Point Dread attachment for Greyskull. I think I even had Hordak's slime pit.
I had a number of Joe vehicles, but never USS Flag or the Real Ghostbusters firehouse.
GorillaMonsoonGirl@reddit
I wanted it soooooo badly, but I had it in my little head that I couldn’t have it because I was a girl. I made secret plans to get one as an adult because adults could do anything, right? Man, this post brings that all back—especially the slime!
redditcreditcardz@reddit
I got this from my older cousins on my birthday. It’s one of the few core memories I have about my birthdays as a kid. Absolutely love this toy so much, I set it up in my closet so I’d never have to “put it away”. Man, that’s such a good memory. Thanks for sharing
unbanned_lol@reddit
Yeah, my cousin had this. Somehow they lived in a literal shack on family property, no running water, no shitter, but they always had cool toys.
Both-Artichoke5117@reddit
My cousin’s had this. I had She-Ra and her horse.
Key_Dust7595@reddit
I had it! Great play set. I still do but it’s in bad shape. I played with it hard.
Physical-Name4836@reddit
I had it and didn’t olay with it a ton. I remember the drawbridge would move but don’t remember anything else it “did”. My dad gave all of our toys away to our cousins or other family members when we got older. I remeber him complaining about how much money he would spend on toys for us, but he stopped all that because he knows he gave away a small fortune now.
Express-Focus2823@reddit
I had this and the aircraft carrier. suck it, nerd.
daniellaroses1111@reddit
My friends had this!! It was fun.
Armageddon-666@reddit
Had the original that came out in the 80's, then lost it at some point during a move. Then my wife bought me the new version that came out a few years ago.
macgeekgrl@reddit
I had this! It was pretty damn cool. When I was a kid, my dad took me and my sister on a camping trip and we this castle and all my He-Man stuff up in the woods. We had a few small fires burning, and it looked like this apocalyptic battle scene. It was so damn cool.
Thank you for posting and bringing back that memory! :-)

Dimplefrom-YA@reddit
my brother did. he also had the voltron castle.
WelcheMingziDarou@reddit
Got this for Christmas one year. We also had the ride-on Battle Cat! Spoiled lil shits, we were. I think a year or so later we got Skeletor’s castle. Weird - just now I had a flash of what all those He-Man figures smelled like …
johnnyclash42@reddit
So grateful I had one of the two. Also the one w a mic. Can’t remember which one it was, but my parents are amazing and even when behind strapped would find a gift like this for Christmas for us.
MartyFreeze@reddit
A couple of friends had it. It was ok, I really liked the decals, especially the one of the monsters trapped in the dungeon. It really set my imagination ablaze with what monstrosities were imprisoned down there.
Otherwise, the Snake Mountain set was way cooler to me because of its moving mouth and voice changer mic.
Kinc4id@reddit
The coolest about Grayskull was that you could open the door with He-Mans sword. Which is not much for such a massive thing.
Besides this I had Fright Zone which was much cooler with the rubber hand puppet snake, the tree that could hold action figures and the trap in the ground. Grayskull was visually cool, but Fright Zone was actually cool.
D_for_Drive@reddit
It’s true you could open it with one sword, but what you were supposed to do was join He-Man’s and Skeletor’s sword to make the key to open Grayskull.
Kinc4id@reddit
Interesting, I didn’t know this. I don’t think I had Skeletor.
D_for_Drive@reddit
One sword had a tab and the other had a slot so you could put them together to make one big sword
here4pain@reddit
Don't forget the "elevator" in there. I'm surprised that lasted as long as it did. I was playing with that into the early 90s. I bet my parents still have it somewhere. Sometimes hoarding can be a positive
Steely-Dave@reddit
Those decals were like the drawn pictures in video game manuals. Could imagine entire stories from just one.
mistermorrison@reddit

There was a decal on the inside of Castle Grayskull that depicted a grate to a dungeon, and the grate had various species appendages reaching out. As a kid I always wished they'd make the action figures of those creatures, and would try drawing what I thought they'd have looked like.
nickooze@reddit

My neighbors had this. They had every toy you could imagine. They also had their mattresses in the floor, which I'd never seen before. My mom said it was because they were poor.
They were from Florida but moved to Maine. I suspect their parents were running from the law or setting up a new drug network. Their dad drove a Cadillac with a car phone. He didn't seem to "work."
ItsaMeWaario@reddit
I had it! It had a trap door that dropped when you turned the throne. You would fall into a pit of monsters which was a sticker. I remember being so afraid of touching it as a child!
NotAProfessiona1@reddit
Still have it
ultramagnes23@reddit
I got one for Christmas in the early '80s. I loved that the Talon Fighter perched on top of the rampart, so cool. I got one for my grandson last Christmas. He was born early 2020 when the MOTU Origins figures started coming out so I had been collecting them for him. He gets one whenever he comes to visit and has He-Man wars with his friends when at home. It's cool the re-issue still has the Talon Fighter perch.

Yep, got 2 of them in various stages of decay...
I also have Skeletors Castle, and the Horde Swamp playset.
giant6600@reddit
Yeah I did, I got he-man ,battle cat ,castle grey skull and I think 6 other good guys and my brother got the same but with skeletor the bad guys and snake mountain it’s still one of my best Christmas memories
these2boots2@reddit
I had to toss out a massive box of old toys that were stored in a shed at my parents house that had long ago been infiltrated by all sorts of critters. Greyskull was one of them. I cleaned up a Cobra Rattler plane but the rest went in the junk. I was broken up about it as I would have preferred to sell them to people that needed parts.. Unfortunately I was very short on time as I was moving out of state.
curious_kitty705@reddit
Yes!!! My brother did!! And I had She-ra's castle with her horse 😁
Chaos_Sauce@reddit
Didn’t we all know one kid who had it? Usually the same kid who had the full metal Voltron and one of the non-NES consoles you only saw in magazines.
drummer_who_codes@reddit
I was a He-Man kid. My parents weren't big on huge playsets, but they bought me Castle Grayskull, Snake Mountain, and The Horde. They were all pretty amazing.
Mission-Concert-9575@reddit
Same here, I remember a day that i nagged my dad so much to buy and and he said yes, went to the store, heard the price and said no. Never had it. Never had the castle, My son who is 12 and knows I am a huge fan of MOTU was with me visiting a Comic store, we saw the castle and he was insisting that I get it for myself. I did not. Now he is saying that I should get it for my birthday.

Either me or my cousin had it. We both had a lot of He-man stuff.
tc_cad@reddit
My cousins had this. Was probably my favourite toy at their house.
Remarkable_Major7710@reddit
No, I wasn’t into Masters of the Universe, I had a few figures and that’s it. I was a GI Joe, Transformers & Lego fan. And then it just became Lego
ollie81578@reddit
That thing is satanic.
The-D-O-Z@reddit
I had this and Snake Mountain. All the figures. I had a LOT of Transformers too! Perks of being an only child! I didn't necessarily always get what I want, when I wanted it, like your typical spoiled only child, but Mom & Dad ALWAYS made sure I had a spoiled Christmas (birthday same day as well)!
sarkarati@reddit
I gave mine to my kid, now she has her penguins play in it. Also have Skeletor’s Castle but haven’t bequeathed that one yet
Mind-of-Jaxon@reddit
I had this. And my gi joes had cardboard boxes
Technical-Weekend598@reddit
My brother got this, I got the evil hoard castle
Arriwyn@reddit
My cousin had a Castle Gray skull. It was pretty cool actually and his sister had the She-ra Castle too.
veiled-nomore99@reddit
Me!! And I threw a fit on Christmas morning because my little sister got She-ra and I got a “boy toy.” Lol. I had Battle Cat and ended up loving it, but I was not a grateful daughter that morning. 😝
itslonelyinthevoid@reddit
I still have it.
Cactilily@reddit
I had She-Ra's Crystal Castle
FalseVeterinarian881@reddit
Yes. This and skeletons castle. Still have the remaining well used pieces in my basement at home.
MileHighDabber@reddit
I did have this at one point in my life
ExpensiveWords4u@reddit
The rich kids did! 😆 same w Barbie dream house.
RitchieViolence@reddit
I had this AND Snake Mountain. I neighbors that had the vehicles and some hard to find figures. The 80s were a fucking blast. I think I still have Castle Grayskull at my folks’ home.
mstermind@reddit
I had this castle. It was my pride and joy along with an Optimus Prime.
iced_coffee_mama@reddit
My brother had one
the_amazing_spork@reddit
Yes and it was awesome.
maroonfalcon@reddit
Yes, Christmas 1986. It was awesome! Santa hooked it up!
Velvet_Samurai@reddit
This was a super common one in my area. I had it, all of my friends did too. Snake Castle was rarer, but I can think of 5 kids for sure that had this at my school. I think I saw the prices of it recently, they were only $20, which I realize was in 1980 money, but it's not like this was a $100 toy.
Late-Arrival-8669@reddit
I got this, I remember some slime trap? perhaps and had green slime that came with it? I do remember how it folded out.
Unusual-Minimum9306@reddit
My brother and I had this. Loved it. I thought about it again recently when helping put together my son’s bowser castle play set.
Tank-Pilot74@reddit
I had this one! Bless my parents that Christmas! I even vaguely remember asking mall Santa for it too
One-Earth9294@reddit
I did have Greyskull. And it was one of my favorite toys for a good long while. Always loved that sticker that goes on the floor that's like a dungeon with a grate and there are tentacles and arms reaching out of it.
Homo_erotic_toile@reddit
My older brother had it
flotusspunkmeyer@reddit
So did mine. It was always in the basement and so terrifying.
TheJWal420@reddit
Got it from santa.
Azuras_Star8@reddit
Same. I still have it!
CaptainXakari@reddit
Same! Well, most of it and Snake Mountain too. My kids play with them now.
Azuras_Star8@reddit
I have snake mountain too! Maybe I should bust them out of the attic.
illwill79@reddit
Same! Loved it as a base.
Much-Diet1423@reddit
Yup, same and it was great. IIRC, it also worked as a small storage case for your figures because it closed up.
holymole1234@reddit
I did too. It was a pretty disappointing toy that I hardly ever played with and took up a lot of space in my small bedroom. Still I was a teenager before I finally got rid of it.
Reasonable-Coconut15@reddit
Christmas when I was 8. It still ranks as the best christmas I have ever had.
I remember I spent the first night trying to recreate the TV commercial by having skeletor catch himself when he fell through the trap door.
My question now is, what the hell happened to it? My mom has dementia, so there is no help there.
horsenamedmayo@reddit
Yessssssss! Omg we had all of those toys.
meatandcheezandbooz@reddit
I got one secondhand for Christmas when I was young. I loved it
Tricky-Society-5920@reddit
My daycare had this and the skeletor castle. My brother and I couldn’t wait for our stay-at-home-mom to abandon us every day to go shopping or take a nap or whatever she did all day
ChonkyGloves@reddit
My brother had this and a ton of action figures. He always made me play Skeletor. I got revenge by routinely stealing his castle and playing Barbie in it.

Closest I had was the Jurassic Park compound!
yayforvalorie@reddit
My neighbor had one as a kid. My husband did too and now he has one.

joustlord@reddit
I just discovered my Castle Grayskull in my basement a month ago. Now I need to find a place to display it.
FreemanAMG@reddit
Yes I did! I still remember the distinctive feeling of the floor trap mechanism. My parents are awesome!
OffMeta13@reddit
My brother for sure has this!
VectorJones@reddit
Yep. This was at the top of my wish list, Christmas '83. I almost got my ass handed to me by my mother when I went sneaking in her closet and found it hidden and my older sister narced on me.
DeathandHemingway@reddit
Yup. I loved it almost as much as my Dukes of Hazzard slotcar set.
1101base2@reddit
I had that and a few of the action figures. My dad sold it in a garage sale a few years after I bought it for a quarter. No I'm not still bitter about it...
i_am_randy@reddit
I had it and sold it for $5 in a garage sale around 1992. I still regret it.
babyBear83@reddit
My brothers had it (they were born in 77) but they squandered it!! They were all about trading baseball cards at the time and I think they traded it for something they thought was a better deal. Lol, boy were they SO wrong about the baseball cards…the Heman castle is worth more now than all the boxes of baseballs they had combined.

MrInternationalBunal@reddit
I had this omg haha and the green figer it had like velvet spray on fur
Global-Jury8810@reddit
My brother had the He Man record so I wouldn’t be surprised if Mom got him this. I remember the he man record, but around the same time I ended up in the hospital needing stitches for my head because the swingset was not bolted to the ground and it eventually fell on my head. They mentioned records (hospital) and I told my parents to get me a She Ra record. I was something like three years old then. He was born in 81.
DJSfromthe1900s@reddit
I remember having Castle Grayskull with the drawbridge mouth, but I don't remember it opening like the picture. It probably did though unless there were multiple versions.
DBFairbanks666@reddit
I was what you’d call “middle class white trash” so I’d get a figure or a small item like the tauntaun, or robot armour that Joe figures fit into etc….but my buddy got EVERYTHING. So I had it vicariously through him lol! Atari VCS, aircraft carrier, 2 Joe headquarters…one for Cobra, Death Star, AT-AT etc. we both like SW and GI Joe but he didn’t really like HE-Man but he got the Castle and Snake Mountain…he couldn’t understand why He-Man would live in a place that looks like Skeletor should lol! So maybe 6(?)months later he gave me both and his mom said it looked gross and she wouldn’t let him use the slime for the mountain, I was so happy. My mom started being kind of a bitch to my friend…Years later, getting older, I realized his dad was a top dog at The Bay and my friend didn’t give me his, his dad gave me new ones as “charity” lol!…and he’d hide his when I was over. Turns out my mom wasn’t happy about it and told his parents off lol!…anyway I was an obliviously happy child just playin’ away. So I’m 53 now but a few years ago my buddy’s kid (12yrs) got really into He-Man and 80’s animation but now because they’re collectible prices, couldn’t afford or even find stuff so for his birthday I gave him mine…his dad gave me his AT-AT and a boxed snow-speeder after I did…yeah…I/we still collect lol! That’s how collectors should be, own it cause you love it, not for cash.:)

tj_haine@reddit
In the late 80s the older brother of my sister's friend had an immense clear out of his old toys when they moved house. I ended up with Castle Grayskull, the original Millennium Falcon, the A Team van and dozens of action figures among other absolute gems. I adored them all. But in my head, it meant that if we ever moved house, I'd have to give up all my own toys to someone else. That worried me for years!
The funny thing is, my parents did end up moving house many years later when I was just beginning university. I wasn't home much and even if I was I was either messing with a computer or playing video games. Those toys I'd so generously been given had kick started a huge collection of toys that I'd enjoyed playing with over the years, but ultimately had wound up in storage boxes, gathering dust.
I ended up gifting all of my Jurassic Park dinosaurs, Spawn action figures as well as a lot of the older toys which had survived to the little boy who lived next door. I figured they were better of bringing someone else some joy than taking up space in the new house.
In hindsight, that collection would probably be worth a fortune these days.
Joerugger@reddit
I still have mine.
booweezy@reddit
Got it. Loved it. Had the gas station / volcano from MASK too.
SaveusJebus@reddit
My brother had it. I used to play with all his He-Man stuff. He was Barbie's short husband
Middleage_dad@reddit
Random fact: Star Wars figures were made the size they are so that the vehicles and play sets would be a bit smaller as well, making them easier for kids to play with.
Primary_Standard_892@reddit
I actually had this as a child and it was awesome for the first few days. I got bored of it afterward when a cousin of mine brought an Atari 2600 to my house...that was a wrap on toys.
DisgruntledEwok@reddit
YES! It was one of my favorite things ever! For Christmas, I got a bunch of MotU toys and a big Grayskull play tent. I was setting it up with my dad, and we realized there were pieces missing. So, we went to the store to exchange it, but they had run out of them. So, my dad exchanged it for this magnificent beast, which was probably more expensive than the flimsy tent.
It is only now, as an adult, that I realize how much my parents sacrificed for their kids. This wasn't cheap back then, and my parents sometimes struggled. So, this gift meant a lot.
Agreeable-Chart-5561@reddit

My brother had it. I was so jealous and he wouldn't let me play with it. I just wanted to drop Beastman down the trap door.

I remember this being my Christmas eve present I was allowed to open. I got out of my room late in the night/early morning to play with it and I didn't let the goo stuff cool down enough in the fridge overnight. Instead, I just made a big sloppy mess. Then causing my dad to wake up grumpy with a crying 4(?) year old to attend to.
I don't have a single memory of it after that. Only he man toys I remember actually playing with were the green tiger and that dude that spun in circles at the waist.

He-man came with a half a gray sword cut down the flat profile. You could fit it to the half purple sword that came with skeletor and unlock the front door with them. I don't remember real well but I think maybe in the cartoon they couldn't swordfight because their swords would magic together and drama...

stlredbird@reddit
Hell ya i did. I also had the gi joe aircraft carrier. Single child ftw!!
Hairbear2176@reddit
One year, my parents teamed up and went all out (they were divorced). I got Grayskull and a SHIT TON of He-Man figures. It was probably the best Christmas I ever had....until my mom and grandma got into a fight. My mom threw us into her car, my grandma threw ALL of my He-Man figures into about 3 feet of snow, and threw Grayskull into the trash when we left.
So...it turned into a pretty shitty Christmas rather quickly.
GonePhishingAgain@reddit
I did for Christmas in 1985. That same year I was headed to my friend’s birthday party and my mom realized we didn’t have a gift to give. She said grab one of your presents under the tree for him and she would replace it. I ended up grabbing Skeletor and that was the only action figure for the castle my mom bought me for Christmas. So I had all these He-Man figures and the Greyskull Castle with no one to defend it.

I got Snake Mountain and spent hours singing into it.
SensitiveArtist@reddit
My brothers and I had Greyskull, the tank, the plane, and a bunch of the figures.
DarinCN@reddit
Yes - I was the biggest he-man fan- early 80s - so yes
DarinCN@reddit
I did move toward transformers y gijoe not too long after
RaygunMarksman@reddit
Yeah, one of my favorite toys ever. I think it was my first Masters of the Universe thing. I remember picking it out with my old man in the local mall toy store on my birthday. Also got Castle Eternia for Christmas one year. He-Man toys were pretty awesome in hindsight.
Consistent-Ad8044@reddit
Yeap!
RiMcG@reddit
I've got half of that thing hanging in my garage
Pharmacy_Duck@reddit
Not me (I was a Transformers and Star Wars kid and didn't give a shit about He-Man), but one of my mates or one of their little brothers had it for sure.
ashcach@reddit
Had this and the smile pit
ddiknosaj@reddit
Got it. Still have it
deefunkt01@reddit
Childhood friend had this.
7r3370pS3C@reddit
My brother and I got it, Dad asked us on a Saturday afternoon if we wanted to go get it. This wasn't a norm by any means for him, so thanks for the core memory unlock!
KevG29@reddit
Yes, had this and just about every other piece from MOTU collection. Fun times.
Elethuir@reddit
No I had the bat cave and the ghost busters hq
Ryuujin_13@reddit
I had this, and used it for years. It came in clutch as the home base for my Fire Battle Beasts. Water lived in the GoBot Command Center, and Wood got the shaft since they suck, and had to live in the He-Man Horde Slime Pit.
SurviveDaddy@reddit
I got this and Snake Mountain for the same Christmas.
Cisru711@reddit
Not me, but the neighbors with 5 boys had this and every single other He-man character. Unfortunately, they didn't move to our block until we were all at the tail end of our interest in the show. So only played with it a couple times.
AmputeeHandModel@reddit
I got a half complete one from a yard sale.
AUCE05@reddit
Are you trolling or a bot for karma?
Fabulous-Airline-473@reddit
We had this for sure in our basement
AlexiosPPPP87@reddit
Yep!!! Love this
shadow_terrapin@reddit
Yes and years later I stuffed it full of pre-flame retardant law soft toys (plushies) and set it ablaze. He-man died in the fire.
Ridere_et_nutu@reddit
My cousin had this and I was obsessed with it!
ArahantQS@reddit
This was my Christmas gift when I was about 5 or 6. My sister got the she-ra crystal castle and we would set them both up across from each other and have little action figure wars. Foundational childhood memories.
guyako@reddit
That was my big Santa present one year. It was amazing to come around the corner to see it fully set up in front of the Christmas tree. My brother and I definitely got hours of use from it. We f-in loved playing with our Masters of the Universe toys.
singleguy79@reddit
Had this and Snake Mountain.
audiate@reddit
I got an older kid’s collection as a hand me down, this included.
Fit_Indication_2529@reddit
Yes, the Mouth would fall off all the time.
ceabug@reddit

My brother got this, but I used it when he wasn’t there
JackOfAllSomething@reddit
I think I still have it. My kids played with it for a hot second.
Slownavyguy@reddit
My favorite toy. I had the falcon flyer that attached to the tower. So awesome!
Possible-Tangelo9344@reddit
My brother did. We still have the castle part in my mom's basement but all the accessories are gone I think
ONROSREPUS@reddit
Yes I did. I saved for a long time but I got it!
