I had the jet. Got a green army man aircraft carrier. I made it work. lol
TheLastBoat@reddit
Still waiting Santa, 30 years later.
taleofbenji@reddit
I'm still waiting for that NES, you stingy red suited bastard!
Mail_Order_Lutefisk@reddit
It wouldn’t fit down the chimney, pal. I already confirmed it. 4 decades and nearly seven figures of therapy later and I’m okay that they got me Omega Supreme instead of the Flagg. They didn’t know. It’s not their fault.
Josephthebear@reddit
Hands down one of the greatest toys of all time
Manck0@reddit
"Where's the admiral?!?" "Not here!"
Haha well then where is the admiral?
Flimsy_Oven_7569@reddit
Checking the eff in! Joint Christmas present for me and my brother.
Cubelock@reddit (OP)
Look at the size of it lmao.
Do either one of you still have it today?
Flimsy_Oven_7569@reddit
It took up the whole living room. It lived in the basement for a while and then disassembled for the attic. Pretty sure it got donated in the late 90s.
MightyCaseyStruckOut@reddit
Damn, a fully complete one now in very good condition can go for $2000+.
bloodectomy@reddit
It's unfortunate that GI Joe toys were so cheaply made. Most of my vehicles broke with normal play (and I was nice to my toys) within a few months.
DistractedByCookies@reddit
I can't believe somebody actually OWNED this. How jealous were your friends?
Mail_Order_Lutefisk@reddit
My buddy Nick had one. Showing up at his house with my water moccasin boat and Sgt Slaughter’s tank was what it would probably feel like if I showed up at a gangbang hosted by an NFL team.
bridge1999@reddit
The kid next door had this and almost every thing GI Joe
Flimsy_Oven_7569@reddit
Everyone definitely hung out at our house more often. 😂
shawnofnc@reddit
Oh you rich rich.
red286@reddit
These were originally $110 ($330 today). Not crazy expensive if you consider the size of it. Though the size of it is pretty crazy itself. You practically need a room dedicated to the damned thing. Definitely not getting shoved into a toy box.
sfxer001@reddit
Man, my buddy had that thing.
MsFlibbertigibbet@reddit
I had one growing up because my mom came across it at a thrift store. It was GLORIOUS.
Mail_Order_Lutefisk@reddit
I’d love to hear what the kid did to lose that.
Harlockarcadia@reddit
My parents bought my brother the Jet and I thought that was cool, being born in 85 this was legendary to us and we dreamed of having it, I remember having some big ZBots arena, but nothing as big as that cool aircraft carrier: https://ebay.us/m/hqdlWo
manofredearth@reddit
I had the Shuttle Complex and that shit rocked
GriffinIsABerzerker@reddit
My Dad showed me this…told me I could get it for Christmas but then showed me all the other vehicles and figures I could get in place…I went for the other stuff. That was a FANTASTIC Christmas of Joes, Thundercats, and LJN WWF. I was 4, I remember it vividly…1985. I ended up picking up Keel Haul a year later at a flea market…and that’s all I wanted from it.
solemn_penguin@reddit
I used to spend hours staring at pictures of it in the Sears catalog. It was over $100 in 1986 which makes it around $300 today.
PlayfulAmphibian3475@reddit
I was the poor kid on the block. But my dad managed to make this wish happen for me. Christmas morning, fully assembled in the basement.
I wasn't allowed to have friends in the house because, well, it was a dump. But I remember bringing out the megaphone that came with this to prove I had one. The neighborhood kids didn't buy it..
So I am that kid who had the USS Flagg and you no one ever saw it.
ConsciousSituation39@reddit
Ugh… wanted this so bad… never got it… well, yet!
Combatical@reddit
I've only seen pieces of this at old thrift stores.
WittyWitWitt@reddit
Which pieces?
mrrunner1981@reddit
Pretty awesome. However, I really really really wanted, and maybe still do, Castle gray skull!
whyneedaname77@reddit
I can't imagine how big it would be for the Classified series of figures and how much it would cost.
OkBaconBurger@reddit
You would need to build an extension on your house just to have room for that thing.
It would be easier to just join the Navy and get stationed on an aircraft carrier.

Dang! I was looking for that GIF but it didn't appear in my search :(
Allaplgy@reddit
The hippie fantasy again?
OkBaconBurger@reddit
Thanks to GI Joe, the Simpsons, and strategically placed commercials I did just that!!!!
Plasibeau@reddit
I mean...that was the point of the propaganda, lol.
Impressive-System-52@reddit
I remember walking into a toys-r-us and seeing this on the bottom shelf as soon as you walk in, the box was bigger than I was!
Herky_T_Hawk@reddit
Only seen two of these in my life. A kid I knew had one, “rich” family. And over one at a used toy store half a decade old or so ago.
Sdog1981@reddit
I got one at a garage sale almost 10 years after it came out. It was freaking cool, but it did not have all the parts.
THATS_ENOUGH_REDDlT@reddit
Rich kid stuff
itsallbeendone2or3x@reddit
Yep. I had a rich friend. We were not. As big as this thing was, it didn’t even make a dent in the size of his bedroom. It was amazing.
No-Salt4637@reddit
Yeah, I knew one of those kids, too. His bedroom had a second floor.
ElectricPenguin6712@reddit
I never met anyone who had this. Only those like me that wished they did.
SoloMotorcycleRider@reddit
I was poor white trash. So were my friends. How much is something like that worth nowadays?
michaelincognito@reddit
I never got this, and I never got the T-Rex Dino Rider — two of my biggest childhood regrets.
Hahaha2681@reddit
Same have to watch the other kids play with T-Rex Dino writer and it was only a dream to play with the ship
Snts6678@reddit
I had the T-Rex! It was awesome.
Icantevenhavemyname@reddit
Google and Reddit tell me it was $100-$120 at the time.
Snts6678@reddit
Which is a significant amount of money.
macrocosm93@reddit
About 300 - 360 in today's money.
Jaleou@reddit
My 3 cousins got this as a joint Christmas present from our grandparents one year. Another year they got the Defiant Space Shuttle. Years later I saw the aircraft carrier as a table for the youngest to build his Lego sets on.
Ok-Cranberry-2466@reddit
Imagine paying 110 💰 for this when the avg. months salary was 1800 💵?
sshanafelt@reddit
Wonder how much this sucker cost back then
mil_journo@reddit
My lust for the USS Flagg has only slight diminished over the past 40 years 🤤🤤🤤
BritOnTheRocks@reddit
Seriously though, where do you store something like this?
BillySlang@reddit
You don't. It becomes a new centerpiece of the room.
Snts6678@reddit
It had to be. Once it was built you sure as shit weren’t going to move it…ever. I was genuinely surprised at how flimsily it was constructed.
ItchyMcHotspot@reddit
It helps if you have a finished basement.
LakeEffectSnow@reddit
Man, the kid in my grade whose parent's were divorcing that year got one. Most popular kid in school.
Pard22@reddit
I wanted that so bad as a kid
GristleMcThornbody1@reddit
Y'all spoiled.
Cutthechitchata-hole@reddit
Santa never brought me my rolling thunder. He brought a cobra chopper. The day i decided he isnt real. Also, i found the chopper in a closet before christmas.
Mobile-Boss-8566@reddit
Ah yes, the one toy my parents drew a line in the sand and said no way , that’s too expensive for a plastic toy.
Pnmamouf1@reddit
My best friend got this. He had a lot of best friends after that
DistractedByCookies@reddit
They always cheatypantsed it with the "other items sold separately" though. I mean, look at that behemoth of an aircraft carrier, couldn't they spring for at least ONE jet?
Or maybe I'm just salty because our ship was made out of cardboard boxes LOL
pinkocatgirl@reddit
Hah reminds me of my childhood, our Barbie doll house was made out of a dishwasher box
Merlins_Owl@reddit
We truly lived in a magical time
three-sense@reddit
I miss how celebrated the Military was in children’s media. Do kids even play with army men anymore.
sziss0u@reddit
Wow, read the room buddy. We are under threat of a civil war and you want military toys again?
collinwade@reddit
I wanted this shit so fucking badly
