RiP šŖ¦ the 2nd Best Thanksgiving movie isnāt streaming anywhereā¦

How is it that you can find Xmas movies year round, but the one time of year for Thanksgiving movies, and thereās only like 3, you canāt find them to watch?
How is Dutch (1991) Not available to stream anywhere, during the month of November?
I was able to find Home for the Holidays, but itās only on Paramount+. Hopefully PlutoTV their free service might have it.
What Thanksgiving movies are you guys watching besides, Planes, Trains, and Automobiles?
Expensive_Visit4@reddit
I love all the "friends" thanksgiving episodes...also I watch all of "the middle" thanksgiving episodes....movies I watch..pieces of April.. planes trains automobile..son in law..Dutch..home for the holidays..and what's cooking
Blazenkks@reddit (OP)
Cool thanks friend. Whatās Cooking (2000) is one Iāve never heard of! And donāt think Iāve seen anyone mention here yet? Sweet! Definitely gonna try and find that one
Expensive_Visit4@reddit
Exactly...I love dutch...can't even purchase in prime because it's not available and it's better than most of the other thanksgiving movies out thereĀ
Blazenkks@reddit (OP)
Yeah. I just need to buy it. There arenāt a whole lot of movies that I feel I need to own these days. Most the time I can be patient enough to wait for a movie on my list to become available. But Holiday movies I seem like a thing Iād rather just keep around.
melissisms@reddit
Everyone is sleeping on Four Brothers.
Verbull710@reddit
That chick he passed out on was lovely
Blazenkks@reddit (OP)
Lol. I remember her from Kate and Allie with Jane Curtin. Was a 80ās sitcom similar to Family Ties, Valarie, and The Hogan Family.
Verbull710@reddit
I don't really recall anything except some kind of dishwater blonde hair, a purple shirt, and pronounced chesticles, honestly
taleofbenji@reddit
Never actually seen it but I remember that line from the trailer "Nothing burps better than bacon!"
Blazenkks@reddit (OP)
Itās pretty great. That awesome that you can remember that line just from the trailer š. Itās still not quite Planes, Trains, and Automobiles. But it still totally has that John Hughes humor mixed with the some warm fuzzy feelings.
StChas77@reddit
It crosses over both Thanksgiving and Christmas, but Grumpy Old Men.
Blazenkks@reddit (OP)
Oh Yep! I actually own Grumpy Old Men and put it on a few months ago for background. Burgess Meredith is so great in both of um. The 2nd one has one my favorite scenes.
peggysue_82@reddit
This is not technically a thanksgiving movie, but it was always on tv on Thanksgiving day. Anne of Green Gables (1985).Ā
My family continues this tradition yearly.
Blazenkks@reddit (OP)
My Mom loved that set of TV movies. I feel like I had seen them all a couple times growing up.
New_Stats@reddit
I'm sure you can find it if you really looked
supguy99@reddit
What is the 2025 route for this? Torrents? VPNs? How do y'all navigate the waters these days?
bikemandan@reddit
Torrents work for me personally. I have a qBittorrent container running on my home server so it can download and seed 24/7. qBT has a search function built into it also. Just punch in 'Dutch 1991' and bam, you got a magnet link and away you go. Wise to be mindful of whether a VPN is right for your situation or not
porn_syrup@reddit
I didn't even realize qb had a search function, will have to check it out. I always use 1337x.to.

Dutch isn't streaming anywhere? Dang.
"Planes, Trains and Automobiles" is really the only other Thanksgiving movie I tend to think of. I do like the TV special "A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving," though.
Blazenkks@reddit (OP)
If you havenāt ever seen Home for the Holidays, itās great. Super dysfunctional Thanksgiving feels like itās one of the most realistic holiday gatherings ever š¤£
Drum_Eatenton@reddit
She fuckinā flashed me Claud
sweetbeard@reddit
My familyās two yearly movies for Thanksgiving night are Home for the Holidays and The House of Yes
Osurdum@reddit
The House of Yes here, too!
RushBubbly6955@reddit
Came here for a Home for the Holidays reference
1kreasons2leave@reddit
The house of yes, now there is a fucked up movie.
6BigZ6@reddit
That has been my go-to Thanksgiving movie ever since it came out. Watched it with my family when it came out and it really helps with the whole dysfunctional family dynamic.
Swimminginthestorm@reddit
My mom has Home for the Holidays on DVD at her house. We end up watching it every year after dinner. Itās her favorite and I donāt want to stay at her place long enough for another movie. I already have to take a āwalkā between dinner and movie/dessert to avoid fighting with my reborn ultra Christian brother who annually has to talk crap about the LGBTQ+ community while our trans sibling is sitting across the table.

xargos32@reddit
I'll have to watch it sometime.
GenJohnnyRico@reddit
I stopped it halfway through, it's pretty unbearable.
Blazenkks@reddit (OP)
Omg itās so great with the arguments š¤£. Holly Hunter, Robert Downey Jr., Clare Danes has a small part. You gotta at least check out the Trailer š¤£
Rivster79@reddit
We did Friendsgiving tonight and the dinner included a trivia. One of the questions was āwhat are the 2 most watched movies on thanksgiving dayā. And it was the 2 you mentioned.
I stand by the fact that Charlie Brown Thanksgiving is NOT a movie.
Turbulent_Tale6497@reddit
Just remember, Snoopy had a full turkey all along, he waited for the kids to leave to pull it out for just him and Woodstock
Nipplasia2@reddit
I havenāt seen Dutch online in a few years
chuckleborris@reddit
For me, itās always Home for the Holidays.
ThePolemicist@reddit
This is crazy. How have I never heard of any of these movies? I never heard of Dutch or Home for the Holidays.
If you ask me about a Thanksgiving movie, I could have named just one: Planes, Trains, and Automobiles.
trippyhop@reddit
Same. Went to see it when it came out on 1995 and have watched it every year since.Ā
johnny_moronic@reddit
I love this film.

cmgww@reddit
The Ice Storm?? Reinsure you can call it a Thanksgiving movie I guess⦠but itās a pretty tough watch
cloudydays2021@reddit
Listen, if people can call Die Hard a Christmas movie, I can call The Ice Storm a Thanksgiving movie
No-Fox-1400@reddit
A building attacked by terrorists and a weird swinger party. Thatās thanksgiving.
ladysnarks@reddit
Everyone celebrates differently.
No-Fox-1400@reddit
Iām just happy they werenāt at the same place.
Blazenkks@reddit (OP)
Cool thanks for the Recs. Pretty sure Iāve seen Ice Storm, is that the John Cusack one?
Crans10@reddit
Ang Lee film and all star cast.
cloudydays2021@reddit
Youāre welcome! And yes, The Ice Storm is a solid cast - itās a wild movie.
Kellzy1212@reddit
I love House of Yes!
RoyalZeal@reddit
The House of Yes was so fucked up lol
lorazepamproblems@reddit
I liked Pieces of April, but I haven't seen it in a long time. It's not a cheery one, but I remember it being good.
_drumtime_@reddit
A yearly fav.
AC3Digital@reddit
I love Dutch and have it on my Plex server. I always give it a watch this time of year.

Been forever since Iāve watched either of those. Iām so down!

animus218@reddit
It's on Plex
Blazenkks@reddit (OP)
Score! Thanks a ton. I tend to forget about Plex, and for some reason Plex didnāt pop up as having access to it!
AMugOfPeppermintTea@reddit
If you haven't used it, justwatch [dot] is a fantastic resource. Just search the movie and seach which services have it available!
animus218@reddit
No problem! We use Plex a lot because my partner is an IT nerd and has a server he runs on his personal Plex that he rips movies and shows to.
no_clever_name_yet@reddit
Same with my husband.
animus218@reddit
It's pretty awesome, I'm a fan.
no_clever_name_yet@reddit
He has a slight problem with buying physical media. Including laserdisc.
animus218@reddit
Well. Beats Transformers.
no_clever_name_yet@reddit
IF I LET HIM, that would be yet another obsession. I told him he had to choose. So he chose physical media (vinyl records and movies) and Magic the Gathering (which he mainly does as proxies he prints himself).
animus218@reddit
As long as we can pay bills and it isn't hoarder status, meh. He sold the comic books and we're working on the Green Lantern collection. I collect the records, and books. Board games and Legos are a collective problem.
AMugOfPeppermintTea@reddit
Pieces of April. The title might not sound like a Thanksgiving movie but April is the name of the lead character
CaptZombieHero@reddit

Blazenkks@reddit (OP)

Blazenkks@reddit (OP)
Oh yer right! Was thinking Chicken Run. Iāll have to check out Free Birds!
Peteisapizza@reddit
So glad I have that DVD
JackSpadesSI@reddit
There must be something going on with the rights to Dutch. Itās been out of print on DVD for a long time and I donāt think it ever got a Blu-ray.
Blazenkks@reddit (OP)
I think so too. Thereās definitely some movies I just need to keep an eye out for at Goodwill and whatnot to just buy.
Iāve been wanting to rewatch Cloak and Dagger, or The Flamingo Kid for a couple years now and canāt ever find um.
atari2600forever@reddit
Does Planes, Trains and Automobiles not exist to you people?
Blazenkks@reddit (OP)
Ofc! Itās the #1 Best Thanksgiving movie, thatās why I said Dutch was the 2nd best š¤£

It is the second-best to me objectively.
But it is my personal favorite. I bought it on DVD like 20 years ago. Such a great movie.
Blazenkks@reddit (OP)
𤣠that was my Dadās favorite line.
āYour water sure looked tasty though!ā
HopelesslyHuman@reddit
It's...it's just a great movie in general, but kinda takes on special meaning when you're a kid with a mom who cares about you, deadbeat dad, and an all-star stepdad.
WharfRat80s@reddit
"Frankly, I don't care if you live, die, or grow mushrooms in your crack."
