Friend has one, loves it, and I want to try the new bafang hub motor system. I checked it out, but honestly the lack of turn signals (of all things) pisses me off. I've built out three bikes thus far, and wiring in turns is my least favorite part of the project. Other things I don't like, two batteries. While the combo is 2kwh which seems like enough in total, I just hate managing two chargers per bike. I've an Aniioki with a single 3kwh beast of a battery, which is more than plenty but dealing with only one is just that much easier (while our Lectrics have two puny ones, and I despise the dual-charger approach)

I just took my Alpha out for the first time yesterday and the lack of turn signals became a safety issue. I had to indicate for a left hand turn and it was not a great time to remove my hand from the bars.
Also, surely one charger and plug could supply both batteries. Needing two seems ridiculous.
Overall - high quality fit and finish and power is very impressive to this veteran of two wheeled human and gas powered bikes, but not ebikes. Seat feels like an iron bar.

I feel the same about batteries. Wish this had one and at least 40ah

I absolutely love mine. Not a fan of the super tall BMX handlebars, so I got a new stem and 120mm rise MTB bars.

Can we see a pic with the new bars ?
Ultimate_Driving@reddit
Yep. Here they are.

Looks great, ordered the alpha mini. Looking forward to it

How is the mini alpha?
Fit-Crazy1051@reddit
They just started shipping them out
Frankthetank312@reddit
How tall are you?
Ultimate_Driving@reddit
5'9"
Frankthetank312@reddit
I’m about 5’7 and not sure if I should opt for the mini
Ultimate_Driving@reddit
I'd go for the mini. If I were any shorter, the standard size Alpha would be uncomfortably large. The mini looks like it'd be a more comfortable ride.
Frankthetank312@reddit
Appreciate the input. Thinking about pulling the trigger in the spring.
Ultimate_Driving@reddit
One thing I'll mention though, is that the bike is uncomfortably heavy, which makes it really inconvenient to put away and get it ready to ride. The Mini weighs the same as the full size one. Although, the Mini's smaller size would definitely help make it easier to store. Tax and shipping also add about $600-700 to the total price of the bike. As much as I like my Alpha, I do wonder at times if it would have made more sense to get something like a Velotric Nomad 2x or Euphree Stellar Falcon instead. But now that I have it, I have no desire to get rid of it.

How's Magician customer service? I'm afraid to order.
Frankthetank312@reddit
Hmm $600 shipping seems insane. I have a big shed in my back yard where it will live, so I’m not too worried about storage and stuff.

Link to stem and bars?
Ultimate_Driving@reddit
Absolutely.
Stem: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BYMBYYFL?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title
Bars: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DPFZY85Y?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1
On the bars, you have to pick the clamp diameter and width. The stem is 31.8mm. I got the 780mm width, but then I cut 2cm off of each side to bring the width down to 740mm. If you order the 31.8-720mm one, you wouldn't have to cut anything, and they'd only be an inch narrower than what I got. I got the 120mm rise, but you can get an even lower rise, if you want.
It's much more comfortable than the stock bars, which felt like they were at chest level for me.
Frequent_Mobile_3883@reddit
After a couple months with your modified handlebars, would you change anything? Or are you perfectly content with the rise and width?
Ultimate_Driving@reddit
I'm perfectly content with the rise and width. I'm 5'9" tall for reference. If you're taller than I am, you might prefer taller bars. The 120mm ones are perfect for me though.

Thank you getting my alpha in a week or so
Ultimate_Driving@reddit
Yaaasss! You're going to love it.
Responsible_Turn2878@reddit
Your bike looks great! Those bars are much nicer!
Ultimate_Driving@reddit
Thanks! They're much more comfortable. The stock bars were way up at chest height, and I just couldn't get used to how they felt.

Wish agentic astroturfing was better.
