We got Hannah Montana OS, why hasn’t a StarTrek OS come out?

Just asking. Star Trek has a huge fan base, a lot of quirky details and lore. I get that it’s not the 1990s or 2000s anymore but it would be really cool to have a Debian based Star Trek Operating system with cool fan stuff integrated directly into the system.

Every OS is a Star Trek OS.
Especially if its installed on a smartphone.
pizzathief1@reddit
No, only if its a flipphone

No I mean personalized for it
lelddit97@reddit
all due respect, hannah montana is dramatically more popular than star trek ever was
/s of the highest order

I’m sure there’s some LCARS looking stuff

When they can get enough Data they will make it so.

I made this entire Star Trek themed holiday light show on Linux, and the entire show ran on Linux.

I’m not sure what a Star Trek Themed Linux distro would be, but maybe we can make a Star Trek themed KDE theme or something.
I’m down for whatever.

That's incredibly impressive, my friend.

Thank you 😊

It comes with a background of the nude klingon Warf with two erect penises which is atonomically accurate.

Jeez no. I was going for nerdy not erotic
lndoors@reddit
I'm just kidding I don't think it would exist. If it did it would exist as a shit post like Hanna Montana OS.
Choice-Biscotti8826@reddit (OP)
That would be unfortunate
lndoors@reddit
It probably takes a lot to maintain an actually serious custom fork. The ones that are a theme, often are only made as a fun joke to say it exists and are probably abandoned the instant it sad made.
It is kind of sad but just how it goes. I'm sure you can use KDE and get custom video wallpapers and chnge enough of the theme to feel like star trek without needing to install a meme distro.
Also deep space nine was the best.
Choice-Biscotti8826@reddit (OP)
Yeah this is true. You create it and then you’re the core dev.
buttershdude@reddit
Yer up! You get to make it. That's how the Linux/FOSS world works.
Choice-Biscotti8826@reddit (OP)
Well you should see if anyone else has tried it first otherwise the FOSS world would just be a million repeat projects

*gestures at 600 Linux distros*

Well

I have nowhere near that technical expertise but maybe one day
rebelhead@reddit
Could you imagine Geordi trying to build up critical systems using proprietary, closed software? Hardware too.
TheFeshy@reddit
There was supposed to be a Klingon distro released, but Klingon software doesn't release. It escapes, leaving a bloody trail of developers and QA's in its wake.
Choice-Biscotti8826@reddit (OP)
lol. I can just imagine how that would look.
tapo@reddit
We got OS/2 Warp in the 90s

Oh hell yeah thanks!
PositronicBrainlet@reddit
I remember using WindowBlinds to get an LCARS style theme on Windows back in the day. It felt a little empty though without touch screen controls or voice activated features but that could definitely be done now.
I wish I had the time to script up something like this.
realitythreek@reddit
Be the change you want to see in the world
Choice-Biscotti8826@reddit (OP)
I don’t have anywhere near the technical skills necessary maybe one day in the future.
