Unironically, skateboarding is one of the most middle class roots Caucasian-dominated sports out there. There have been organized attempts in the past few years to make it more diverse but it's had very limited success. Some people blame the fact that skateparks are expensive to maintain and require a high-trust community so they're disproportionately found within middle or upper class neighborhoods. At the same time skateboarding is a lot harder to turn into a lucrative venture compared to other athletics. A lot of pro skateboarders come from financially solvent and otherwise stable backgrounds as opposed to pro sports that attract people wanting to escape a volatile background.
