Where did my loans go?

So I had student loans through sofi that were serviced by MOHELA. I defaulted on them and then went through a chapter 7 bankruptcy.

I am trying to track down where my loans went and can't find them. I spoke with MOHELA who told me to contact sofi as the loan had gone back to them since they are the originator. I spoke with SoFi who gave me the information of the debt collection agency it was sent to. I spoke with them and was told that the account was sent to another company and was provided their number. I spoke with them and was told I have no account in their system and they couldn't find me. They work with bankruptcy they said but are not a debt collector and couldn't give me any further info on where they went or who to speak with

My concern is that these loans will pop back up at some point and I don't want this hanging over my head. Is there something I should do to try and find these? I have called everyone they have told me to but nobody seems to have them. Has anyone else had this happen to them? Am I ok? Are they gone? Should I be worried and expect them to come back?

Bankruptcy in 2025 might have removed the student loans?
But it is not automatic or guaranteed.
Bankruptcy filer would have needed to file an extra legal action and prove that repayment would cause undue hardship,
Which means that your bankruptcy attorney has answers?

I have spoken with my lawyer and they are looking into it but wanted to know if anyone else has run into this where it changes hands and seems to lose track/record of me or my debt

Understandable, since Mohela (aka Navient, aka Sallie Mae) is notorious for giving out terribly inaccurate information.

It's changed hands 3 times now and with a 4 company now but they seem to know me or have it so I'm just generally confused.

As much as I would love for it to just get lost and disappear I am not expecting that and figure it will likely pop back up but would like to be semi prepared

Did you ever have your lawyer follow up and force them to produce the letter of origination on your loans?

Did your lawyer file an adversarial proceeding / was it accepted by the judge? If not, unfortunately the loans are gonna pop back up at some point.
