Do you use mouth wash?

I used to use mouth wash, but it can erode enamel, so I don't use it anymore.

It's not my claim, I've heard it from doctors.

No, it burns my mouth .. like, my gums scream when it touches them. I figure my mouth & teeth are clean enough with a good brush. I’m 38 & don’t have any fillings, so clearly I’m doing alright 😅

Only when I need fresh breath, and quickly.

Were you using coke as mouth wash? What do you mean? You can use Colgate fluoriguard, my dentist recommends it.

Yes. My wisdom teeth are susceptible to infections and brushing alone never stops it, the ONLY thing that makes sure to prevent it for me is alcohol mouthwash.

It doesn’t erode enamel. It’s fine, and useful for refreshing your breath between meals. It should not be used after brushing, though, as it rinses away the flouride that the toothpaste has applied.

You are correct, I just got told this by my dentist last week lol. I got told off for using it after brushing!

Most mouthwashes say “use after brushing”

Yes, because that’s what they’re marketed for. Ask an actual dentist about it and you’ll get an actual health-related answer

My dentist told me not to, said it's a waste of money.

No. I was told by my hygienist it does more damage than good.

I carry a small bottle in my handbag and use it after lunch.

Have you been overdosing on tiktok again? Modern mouthwash doesnt damage enamel.

Really it’s best used for a short period only. If you’re looking after your dental health you shouldn’t need it. Daily long-term use of strong antiseptic mouthwashes can harm beneficial oral bacteria, potentially affecting health. Just Google impact of mouthwash on oral microbiome

Nope, never have and probably never will. Unless whisky counts 😁 I regularly go to the dentist for check ups and they've never suggested using it. Just the normal brushing and flossing routines.

Which mouthwash were you using? Most mouthwashes don’t erode enamel; sounds like you must have been using a particularly acidic one used for cosmetic purposes or something

Not when I’m doing my (nightly) flossing and (twice-daily) brushing. Just throughout the day if I don’t like the aftertaste of something.

Yes I use mouthwash. I don’t think all brands erode enamel.
