Barrel length?
ConsistentAspect9116@reddit (OP)
16”
LachDochMal@reddit
Why?
ConsistentAspect9116@reddit (OP)
Why not? Why would I create an SBR and post it on a public forum for people to see. What do you mean why?
LachDochMal@reddit
I was just genuinely curious why you would use that barrel length.
ConsistentAspect9116@reddit (OP)
Well, to be completely honest it wasn’t just the SBR build. The upper from bear creek arsenal’s price was right. I had a coupon and after the dust settled I paid 204.00 for it with tax and 2 day shipping. I do a lot of parts shopping, but mostly on Apex or RTG for parts kits, but this is the first bolt gun i’ve built. Since I already a complete AR cad model, I figured it would be a good opportunity to do a design study and try to make something new looking. Someone earlier mentioned that I should do a bull pup version of this and Im thinking a Walther WA2000 clone would look pretty cool. I can get the OAL to 27” if I go that route. Currently OAL is 32-3/4”.

Bullpup it, no balls
ConsistentAspect9116@reddit (OP)
Maybe later. One project at a time.
SquareHoleRoundPlug@reddit
Cut the BCG and you can bullpup it
Dude_I_got_a_DWAVE@reddit
I like this.
I’ve been thinking about adding a forward receiver extension on a 3d printed lower that does not encircle the barrel, to thwart the “barrel shroud” language in laws. The bipod attachment also gives it plausible functionality
Not for bending the knee, but showing how stupid the idea of barrel classification is, in terms of how frigging easy it is to circumvent before the idea even starts to take hold
Another-TrashPanda@reddit
Pretty neat dude! What’s the oal?
ConsistentAspect9116@reddit (OP)
From brake to buttock 32-3/4. It could be much shorter as the upper is a Bear Creek bolt action and any of theirs would fit
Another-TrashPanda@reddit
Then that’s 4” shorter than a 16” rem 700 sps! I would call that improvement! What about a bull up based of the same kind of design?
ConsistentAspect9116@reddit (OP)
It’s doable. Maybe after this wraps up.
Another-TrashPanda@reddit
This would look pretty dope as a sbr or with an integral suppressed barrel! Good job and I can’t wait to see more!
ConsistentAspect9116@reddit (OP)
I did it in 300 Blackout because the plan was to put a suppressor on it eventually I’m waiting to see how the big beautiful lawsuit plays out and if suppressors will come off of the NFA. Doubt it will happen, but at least not having to pay for a stamp in January is a plus.
_Juliet_Lima_Echo_@reddit
Not very compact tho innit?
ConsistentAspect9116@reddit (OP)
How compact does it need to be for you to define it as compact. Upper is 16”.
_Juliet_Lima_Echo_@reddit
Shorter than that carbine
ConsistentAspect9116@reddit (OP)
Oh well.
