I've heard that PSU quality can be linked to coil whine (although not always). How is the PURE POWER 13 M 850W for a 9070xt or 5070ti?

This unit got a strong rating on Cybernetics and also on A on SPL's tier list. but wanna hear from people who know more than me!

Often times chance, but some get it more than others. Corsair RMe series is known to be more susceptible to it for example, but not their RMx series.

I got two rm850x this week, both have clear coil wine, one of them is so loud that I can hear it from the other room while it’s idle on w11 desktop. Sent them back now I’m trying the pure power 850 next week.

Sounds like an anomaly. A majority of people don't report that being an issue on the RM850x. It's more of a common complaint with the RM850e.
I don't have loud coil whine on my RM850X (latest model).

It is, I was very upset. Trying my luck now with b quiet psu
Dwarfunkel@reddit
how is the be quiet? No more coil whine?
SyriusLee@reddit
It’s perfect so far. Zero coil wine all together zero noise! The cables are a bit stiff but that’s the only concern I would say.
Dwarfunkel@reddit
that is good to hear. I had two RM850x and one RM750x and they all have coil whine in idle
Whats your specs and what wattage did you choose?
Dwarfunkel@reddit
just installed an NZXT C850 Gold ATX 3.1 and there's zero noise, both at idle and under load. Will never buy a Corsair PSU again lol. Sucks though that NZXT is notorious for bad aftersale service. be quiet has also been bad the last few years as I heardt. Some important guy left the service department and since then it's downhill
So here's to hope our PSUs will outlast our builds or the warranty

I’m running a 9070xt hellhound oc with a purepower 13M 850W. (Build this Nov.)The PSU is absolute silent but the GPU has a very noticeable coilwhine under full load and high fps (but running great)
What I did: I reduced the powerlimjt by 20% and clock speed by 300mhz - in afterburner and not Adrenalin because it keeps reseting. I also set the hellhound bios switch from OC to silent - he some crashes ins stalker 2 because of OC so I had to play around with settings.
Power consumption is now at more or less stable 250w and coil whine is noticeable reduced but not gone. But I don’t see any performance difference of my gpu in games so I’m happy.

Coil whine is almost guaranteed on amd cards when under load regardless of psu.

Random chance:
I have 9070XT and tested with:
FSP Hydro G pro 850w = medium coil whine
FSP Hydro Ti Pro 1000w = No coil Whine
jtj5002@reddit
I think it's completely random.
EVGA 750 supernova Gen 2 (A) + EVGA 3080 = medium whine
EVGA 750 supernova Gen 3 (A-) + Evga 2070 super = no whine
MSI 850G (B) + Asus TUF 5070ti = low whine
Montech 1050 (A) + Gigabyte 5080 gaming OC = no whine.
Niwrats@reddit
gigabyte seems to have a bit of a reputation for low coil whine. unfortunately they always have some other issue ongoing.
the rating is mostly pointless for this purpose. i'd dig the 12v ripple measurements from the cybenetics database as a starting point instead myself. though i have no idea how relevant those are either.

Complete and utter random chance.

So if you get coil whine nothing you can do except try a different PSU right?
n7_trekkie@reddit
or different GPU. can happen to anything with coils
