Just a note not many people might know about, if you’re not shooting these past 75-100yrds, don’t bother. They only start to light and trace after that distance. Partly because it’s supposed to not give away your exact location and also probably it’s moving that fast that it takes that distance just to ignite although that last point is just a guess. I think some special tracer rounds are “quick igniting” but I haven’t seen those in a long time.

As with everyone else’s warning, be very careful about where you shoot these, they WILL start fires. Source- me… because I accidentally started my own small fire shooting tracers. Luckily got it under control quickly so no harm no foul but it was maybe 5 minutes away from going up a tree and then it would have been a big fucking deal.

lol but seriously, yes absolutely. I believe it’s magnesium(could be totally wrong) that allows them to ‘trace’ and that shit burns incredibly hot. I remember shooting them into sand berms and you could see the white hot fire from the round burning for a good bit of time. Not much it wouldn’t catch on fire I wouldn’t think

Not magnesium, phosphor. Burns without the presence of oxygen (I think anyway) so like he said, even if you shoot it “into” something like you think would smother regular fire, it’ll still catch and burn.
