Is it worth getting the tiles roof cleaned?

There’s a lot of mixed advice on this, but the truth is it depends on the condition of the roof rather than age alone. If it’s just slightly discoloured, then yeah — it’s mostly cosmetic. But if you’ve got a build-up of moss (especially thick patches), it *can* cause issues over time. Moss holds moisture, which can lead to tile damage in winter, blocked gutters, and in some cases even small leaks if left long enough. The key thing is **how** it’s cleaned. A lot of the horror stories you hear are from people using high-pressure washing, which can damage tiles if done incorrectly. Professional cleaning should be low-pressure / manual removal with treatment, not blasting it. I work in exterior cleaning and we see a lot of roofs where a simple clean + treatment adds years onto it and prevents bigger problems later. It’s not always essential, but it’s definitely not a “scam” when it’s needed and done properly.
