What do you love about cars?

What is it specifically that you like about cars? The cosmetic visual side (appearance, sound, status), the mechanical side (the way the machinery works and the intricacies involved in basic operation), or both? Me personally, I could not give less of a shit about how cars look or how expensive they are or what car [insert luxury car brand] has released as of late (as it is for most things in my life). I love simracing, karting and learning about how cars work like they do and fixing them up. I love how so many small pieces move without our knowledge and practically act as ground rockets for us. I love driving and the satisfaction of a good corner. I love speed. I would pick the Camaro ZL1 1LE over the Porsche 911 GT3 RS because it is simply a superior machine, even if the 911 is more popular and more expensive and is, well, a Porsche. What do you guys appreciate?

For me, at the root, is driving. Nothing like the feeling of carving up some smooth twisties. The art of communicating with the road and the car. The forces you feel in the seat, the underlying vibrations you feel in the steering wheel. Nailing the braking, downshift, apex, and track out on a single bend, then the anticipation for the next one.
If something is enjoyable to drive, the aesthetics and mechanics, albeit still part of the hobby, are just side notes. I also get into that stuff as well, but it all started with the enjoyment of driving.
I love to wrench on cars, modify cars, and detail them. Look at them, sit in them, and touch them. But I think it all stems from driving them.

I like simplicity, reliability, handling, power, and lastly looks.

Both aesthetics and mechanics. But I have to include that I just love the act of driving itself.

Same for me.

I'm very much function over form, though form is a function, however I personally dislike being flashy. A car is a fantastic tool of freedom, speed, comfort, hauling, etc. and I enjoy all those aspects.
I'm curious why the Camaro over the 911, not saying I disagree, just curious why?

The Camaro was the first car I heavily researched when I began to get into simracing. I then compared it to a lot of similar V8s and the more popular ones. My friends all drool over the GT3 RS so it was the first comparison that came to mind. The GT3 may be more luxurious and will certainly get second looks but it is just on a mechanical level, inferior.

The Camaro's visibility is so little.

I'm a driving enthusiast more than a car enthusiast
I like being in the seat more than looking at them

It's the same for me.

That new car smell.

Aesthetics and driving experience.
The ZLE is a true beast on the track, although I think the COPO beats it out.

It’s not just the driving. It’s everything around it — the washing, the waxing, the first turn of the key (or push of the start button), the late-night fill-ups, the perfect corner, the satisfying pull through the gears. It’s the way light dances across the paint, how reflections bend on the curves, how glass and metal somehow carry emotion. It’s standing back to admire it after a drive, taking a photo just to remember how it looked in that moment. It’s the care — the services, oil changes, the details, the quiet pride in keeping it running just right as the odometer keeps climbing. Because for those of us obsessed by them, cars aren’t objects. They’re extensions of who we are — freedom, motion, and feeling made mechanical.

I appreciate the science and art behind it all. Every component has meaning, and someone or some team designed it the way it is. Everything then works in harmony to provide the driving experience.
