Can you explain to me the basics of GitHub and how to use a simple repository?

I am looking at this comment and I am pretty new to python, terminal usw and github, never got it: https://www.reddit.com/r/MacOS/comments/16swbqh/comment/k4fixtb/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button
What to do to use this python script on macOS. I guess I should install Python, of course, I already have brew if this helps. What to do next? What does it mean to clone the repository ect.?

I will never comprehend why people make posts like this when they can search up the answer much, much faster. This isn't a lack of skill or knowledge, it's a lack of care and effort. You're fully capable of researching how to do this. You're not stupid, and it's not hard at all. I'm really tired of people acting entitled to our time expecting us to spoonfeed them instructions.

Your question doesn't really have much to do with git/github.
If all you want is to run the code and don't care about learning anything: an LLM like ChatGPT could easily guide you through all the necessary steps if you just link it to the git repo and ask how to run it on your OS.

Not really, sorry. Would love to but… I can’t. Sorry.

You need a git tutorial, for authentication via ssh checkout Gitlab's ssh tutorial, the rest is good via youtube
