Stopping rust

I have some rust on my falcon that I'm trying to figure out how to deal with so it doesn't spread. Does anyone have experience with this? A lot of its inside the hood, so I'm trying to figure out the best way to get rid of the rust that's there, and hopefully prevent any future rust.

Short term rub something oily on it... atf or even just some wd40. That will soak in and stop it... seen people use atf thinned with acetone to hose down stored vehicles and equipment as preventative.
When ready to repair you have to remove it totally one way or the other then properly prime and paint

Ok. I sprayed some pb blaster on it for now, the car got painted right before I bought it, but they only painted the outside

Any general water dispersants will keep it safe against humidity until you want to act on something more permanent. Long term I’d skin the panel, strip disc and coat but certainly not dire if you keep on top of something oily

Generally the right way is to sand blast or even acid dip then repaint parts like this.
Frugally and diy, I'd suggest rust converter like barrier bond then coat lightly with a cosmoline or lanolin product like fluid film.
What I would not do is just spray paint or coat in something rubberized. Once there is rust you can encapsulate humidity and make it rust worse, stay away from coatings like that for anything but new metal.

Right on. Yeah I know better than to trap untreated rust, ive had vehicles that someone else did that to
