Facebook thoughts....

So, I see a lot of stupid stuff getting reposted, mostly by our peers on FB. Stuff that is factually wrong, or inflammatory, or deliberately misleading. These are mostly people I have been friends with, but have been separated from over time.
On the one hand, I could post counter discussion. On the other hand, that shit is tiresome, and very rarely does anyone's opinion change.
How are you folks dealing with this? Getting off FB? Unfriending the loonies? Keeping an eye on the loonies, just so you know what folks are thinking?
I haven't decided, and of course other elements come into play, like family, coworkers, etc... just looking for thoughts.
AquaLady2023@reddit
I’m still on Facebook but I rarely log on. I have some old friends that I have loved for years suddenly posting a lot of political nonsense, completely against everything I believe. It’s like humanity has been sucked right out of them. I don’t want to lose some of these friendships but I can’t read the posts, the arguing, the name calling. I’m less stressed since semi quitting FB.
Owhatabeautifulday@reddit
I still have Facebook for the photos of friends in distant lands. I avoid engaging with any craziness I see. I either mute or move along.
CauliflowerSlight784@reddit
My high school geography teacher is a fb friend and he’s a flat earther and believes every single life event is a conspiracy theory. I knew then it was time to bail!
Owhatabeautifulday@reddit
Your geography teacher is a flat earther!?!? That would definitely be a sign to bail.
WhiskyWillFixIt@reddit
I haven’t been on Facebook in like 15 years.
All_Damn_Day@reddit
Once my (RIP) 80yo Mom started posting slop, I quit FB, figuratively. Still have an account, never visit it. It’s possible that the AI Slop episode of John Oliver actually contributed to her death as she realized that she had been completely left out of technology.
black_flag_4ever@reddit
FB makes money from you arguing with idiots and so it promotes this shit to you. Controversy drives engagement = more clicks, more ad revenue. Lurk at best, don't engage.
ContributionHour3264@reddit
“Lurk at best, don’t engage”. Very wise words, friend. 🙏🏼
ContributionHour3264@reddit
I am off of “General population “ social media as of December of last year. It was just too much. I was literally buying ALL of the shit they were selling me and it got out of hand in my opinion. Also, I started losing respect for people living their whole lives online, and I realized it had an impact on me as a person because part of my spiritual practice is to move away from judgement. It’s not good for ME.
I can’t change someone’s opinion, but I can truly hold space for different opinions now that I am not longer a part of what I feel is monetized radicalization. I do that IN PERSON now. Discussion with different points of view leads to greater respect and understanding at least from the other person’s perspective. I text with people who “miss me” from FB or IG, but I am no longer under the assumption that we are truly “friends” unless we stay in contact for real.
I think FB and IG have devolved into some dangerous territory.
Winter-eyed@reddit
I ditched facebook last year. It’s algorithm is set to send you things that piss you off to keep you engaged and they ignore all stolen content or harassment. Not a platform worth staying on.
galacticprincess@reddit
I unfriended most of those people after the 2016 election, and the rest of them during Covid. I have no room in my life for "friends" like that.
lstintx@reddit
Only social media I use is this.
CynicalAltruism@reddit
Right?!? I'm like, only 55 here. That's at least 15 years too young to be in Facebook's target demographic.
jezebella47@reddit
Yall must live near all of the people you care about. My friends and family are far-flung and the only way I can be in touch with them is FB.
Equal_Insect8488@reddit
Me too, this and Quora. And it's funny, because Reddit apparently has really bad reputation, but my feed is awesome. Some of the places I work, the public Wi-Fi blocks Reddit but not other social media. What the hell subs am I missing? Wait, never mind, don't want to know
Head-Reindeer-4082@reddit
Me too. I was looking at FB a lot when I was still on it, but I deactivated it after January 20. I was surprised that I really didn’t miss it.
SmokyMouse@reddit
Yep, got out of social media in 2019 & haven’t looked back. Only one I use is Reddit & am very particular about the groups I join.
Boring_Blood4603@reddit
I get on Facebook once or twice a month just to see if any aunts or uncles or cousins have passed. My family is bad about sharing news via a phone but they'll plaster it all over FB. Other than that, I'm on here or I watch some YT.
FB is nuts. I am constantly having to correct my mom about stuff she sees on FB.
BuildingAFuture21@reddit
Reddit is my only social media. I have FB and Insta in the event I want to view something there, but I haven’t logged into either of them in over a year. Too much crap. At least with Reddit I can usually flesh out the fake shit.
WranglerWheeler@reddit
I keep a FB account for 4-5 people I want to stay in touch with who only use Messenger. I never access FB and only use Messenger if someone messages me.
This is the only social media I'm on and I try to limit my subs to a few things I'm genuinely interested in.
MarquesTreasures@reddit
And the amount of people who see an AI clip and think it's real. Our generation is so spoofed by AI videos...
Katroine@reddit
Left FB in 2016, was tired of seeing people I knew be ignorant and racist. Left Meta completely last year.
Zero longings to go back. Manufactured outrage keeps people apart.
Distinct_Magician713@reddit
I unfriend the loonies, including family members.
azrolator@reddit
I got off Facebook years ago. I lost too much respect for many relatives seeing the crazy shit they posted. Not even just disgusting morality stuff, but the reposting of like scam memes and shit that I couldn't believe an adult would fall for. "Look what this politician said. I know it's true because someone typed out these words on a picture of her". "War on Christmas". Like, JFC, how the fuck do these people function!?!
I think like a day after I made an account I was asking my niece's how to block family members without them knowing.
REALly-911@reddit
I deleted my account years ago and it was the best decision…
maxny23@reddit
I removed every single friend off my Facebook a few months ago, changed my picture to something innocuous and my name to something else. I only keep it for my travel groups, bookclub groups, and local community pages. I told everyone to find me on Instagram if they’re interested in my life.. because at least then then I don’t have to follow or friend them back and it keeps my algorithm sane.
MapleBaconPeanuts@reddit
I did the same thing. I have FB for access to Marketplace and select groups I want to follow and potentially attend their events.
motherofguineapigz@reddit
I left Facebook early in the pandemic. I was shocked at how incredibly dumb the people I went to high school are. Opinion is not fact guys. And a chiropractor is not a reliable source regarding immunology. Idiots.
BooBooFontaine@reddit
Permanently closed my Facebook account years ago. Deleted my other socials last year. Only thing left is Reddit & even then I take frequent & lengthy breaks. With less time ahead of me than behind, I’m not wasting a second on such things.
Thebestkicker@reddit
I haven’t been on FB in years! I don’t know what it’s like now and I’m cool with that.
Mostly_Nohohon@reddit
I don't have the energy to comment with the right stuff anymore.
I don't unfriend them but I unfollow them. They stay a friend but you no longer see their posts.
TakkataMSF@reddit
Over 10 years ago I left Facebook because of the harm it was causing me (psychologically speaking). I never miss it. If people want to share with me, they have to do so specifically. Which is too much effort for stupid reposts.
I have a friend on the opposite side of the political aisle and she's amazing. We can't talk politics though. It's a rule between us. I'd never be able to friend her on FB (If I was still on the platform) because of her posts.
Dump FB. You don't need it. If you are looking for updates from people, talk to them. You don't need to see their daily shit. If your family wants to share with you, email or call. Or drop those friends and keep those you like.
Basically, you should shrink your bubble until the people you really care about are all you are concerned with. Ignore the rest of the circus act that is likes or politics or whatever. You'll be happier.
crs1904@reddit
Fun fact: Meta will start reading your DMs on December 16. Every conversation. Every photo. Every voice message. Fed into Al. Used for profit.
Pure_Log7513@reddit
I simply unfollow, not unfriend.
niff007@reddit
Ditched that place almost 3 years ago. This is one of many reasons. I still have a profile bc I also have to manage a band page. I check in about once every 2 months. It takes about 10 minutes to remember why I stopped. It's an absolute garbage platform.
Commercial_Wind8212@reddit
Get off Facebook. It's toxic and you're better than that
Wander_Globe@reddit
I just unfriend or, if it's a close friend, I stop all posts from that person. I usually do this with overly religious aunties or overly political friends. The only person I call out on this is mom. If she posts some nonsense like immigrants getting more money than vets I call her up and "enlighten" her.
D05wtt@reddit
I got off FB for many years but decided to get back on because it’s like my “black book.” It’s my way of keeping in touch with many people from my past. My friends list are literally people I know. I don’t accept anyone Idk. Same with IG. I use these as ways for people in my circle of trust to keep in touch with me. Not to build a fake friend list of thousands. Idc about the world. I care about “my people.”
The_mighty_pip@reddit
Yeah I only go on Facebook to talk to certain people. One of my girlfriends tells me all the bullshit ‘News’ she reads on there, and I’m continually showing her it’s ai, inflammatory, or a scam. The last time this happened, I told her that it was breaking my heart that she was stupid enough to blindly accept all this crap as fact. I told her to use the intelligence she shows in her business dealings to separate fact from fiction on fb or not talk to me about this garbage. Critical thinking, you know? And we’re still friends. Hopefully I got through.
Left-Thinker-5512@reddit
I got off Facebook the morning after Hillary Clinton won the 2016 Presidential Election by 3 million votes and didn’t become President. In the preceding year I learned a lot of things I didn’t want to know about people who used to be friends of mine.
I haven’t missed it for a minute. The people I connected with who were good people, I stayed in touch with them. The stuff on Facebook just got me angry and unhappy. I spent too much time with it. Now, I haven’t spent any time with it in nine years. I don’t expect to ever go back.
Choice_Student4910@reddit
I only use fb marketplace. I can’t imagine going back to Craigslist.
Inevitable-Lock5973@reddit
I quit Facebook like two years ago when it just became all ads and politics or whatever so I quit all social media except for this site
Obwyn@reddit
I just unfriend them. Most of them I never talked to much at any point in my life anyway.
I've been slowly whittling down my friends list over the past few years since some people are way more stupid and ignorant than I ever realized.
steel_city_sweetie@reddit
I use it mostly to keep up with friends and family- casual stuff, photos etc. i vowed to keep politics off of my FB page. I failed that a few times and regretted it. The most annoying thing about it now us its mostly ads. 5 ads for every one legit post.
Somedaydreamer22@reddit
I took it off my phone a year ago. Haven’t missed it at all. I still have it on my iPad so I scroll maybe once every other week to just see any interesting updates from family. But I ignore anything remotely political.
I’ve been much happier without it.
jseger9000@reddit
I ducked out of Facebook during the Cambridge Analytical uproar. It just so clearly pointed out that I was the product Facebook was selling. Social media is just not for me.
Key-Regret-7812@reddit
At first I thought it might be good to have crazy people who call me "friend". I mean, they're freaking nuts I do not want to piss them off. And frankly, it was amusing.
And as it turns out, I have been invited to a bunker in case of a zombie apocalypse. Really, "so and so" will come get me in the helicopter if shit goes down. Like, right on man. Zombies? I know a guy. I'm cool. Not everyone can say that.
So, I'm pretty open minded. I'm not hating on anybody. Just kinda taking it all in. But the whack jobs got political. Zombies?, I'm still your friend, you do you man. Insane political rants for either side? I'm out. The threatening, hate filled, venom that was spewing out of people that I thought I knew was really jarring. Like, "I know that one was nuts, but this is crossing the line in a scary way." Kind of stuff.
That's a huge part of why I left. It's one thing when total strangers act like whackadoos. It's another story when I actually know these people. They know where I live and work. They have changed and I don't want to play that game.
Automatic_Antelope92@reddit
I left FB. I announced it, and let people know where else they could find me online, email, and other socials I decided to keep like discord. Surprise surprise, very few followed me to other socials… I have fewer friends who keep in touch, but at least I know they genuinely want to stay in touch and not just hit the like button.
I am on here. I prefer reading reddit and engaging people on here even if they are strangers. The quality is better on average than other social media platforms.
I tried BlueSky and I can’t look at it for long. It’s a firehose of information and I am like Joel Miller, but I prefer to look for the good marbles in the oatmeal and take my time.
Raynet11@reddit
You mean people who have fallen for the PSYOPs (same tactics being used in both parties) This is unfortunately by design to have people pissed off and the algorithm will continue to feed them more content than gets them even more fired up sadly. You’re friends need saving but you have to know how to go about doing it. Once they get to this point it’s like trying to pull someone out of a cult sadly. I have friends who I have successfully depolarized others that are not ready yet
Silver_Breakfast7096@reddit
Don’t have fb any longer. I am perfectly fine allowing others to have different opinions and perceptions than I do. So what? You think the earth is flat? Good for you.
QueenMumof4@reddit
I left Facebook last January and never looked back. Its a wonderful thing!
HumphreyBulldog@reddit
It’s been a month for me. On Bluesky and here. It has been good for my mental health.
bostonjenny81@reddit
I’m on FB but I’m not ON FB if that makes any sense. I’ve had a profile for ages & when it first came out I didn’t mind it so much. I don’t go on there anymore & haven’t in a long time. It’s toxic as fuck, especially these days & when I started to see how friends my age & older would just air their dirty laundry online & get into fights (the kind of arguments that definitely have no business being out there for the whole world to see & then of course comment on) it gave me second hand embarrassment. I just need to get my off my lazy ass, download all my pics on there to a flash drive & delete the account. No Twitter, never even had the urge to download TikTok. I’ve never really been able to get into social media like some people do. I like Reddit, it’s always been good enough for me. I just don’t see the purpose of having to post every single detail of my life, where I am physically, who I’m hanging out with at the moment, what I’m doing etc for everyone to see. You are absolutely correct with the amount of misinformation that gets passed around on there. It’s crazy. God forbid you ask someone where the fuck they got their bonkers ass information from & the response is “I read it on Facebook” if I could roll my eyes any further back they’d probably get stuck.
weirdsandy@reddit
just go download your stuff. start the process. it might take a day to do. they notify you when it's done and then you can delete your account. I did. I'm not sorry one bit, and I have my memories downloaded. win.
whitingvo@reddit
FB is a cesspool of rants, conspiracy theories, and people yelling about their favorite football team. It's exhausting. I deleted mine after 2016 because I couldn't take anymore of people I grew up with ranting about political stuff that I didn't ask for. Best decision! I rejoined a year ago only for a few professional groups that are only available on FB. That's the only thing I use it for. I've had several people I know find me and request me to friend them. I decline each time. The pandemic forced me into simplifying my close friend group. I don't need social media for that. We have each other's numbers and text when necessary. It has been much better for my mental health.
weirdsandy@reddit
off Facebook. I can't even say i miss the people because I never could see their posts anyway. and I'm not close with anyone on there that I don't talk to regularly so what's the point anymore. Facebook gave me more anxiety and anger than good times so f*it.
luluislulu2520@reddit
Usually I try to listen to the voice in my head “if you have nothing nice to say”. I have some old friends and family members that post things I so disagree with but I respect them too much to argue so just raise my eyebrows and keep scrolling. It’s really amazing at how people can see things so differently.
Sudden-Way-6430@reddit
I’m seeing that out generation is starting to fall for the AI misinformation shit that is already holding the Boomers hostage & estranging some of us from our parents. We really have to stay engaged with the world & fight the urge to keep huffing some filtered world.
gregzywicki@reddit
There’s lots of good dog stuff and it’s also how I know if there’s a jazz event interested in. So I try to just scroll on.
Any_Pudding_1812@reddit
i quit facebook years ago. along with all other social media ( unless you count youtube ). i then found reddit and i like it. no friends to annoy me with shit i know isn’t true.
fitandstrong0926@reddit
Facebook is a dumpster fire and useless except for finding local activities. I unfriended everyone and I don't use it to communicate with anyone. Even FB marketplace is full of advertisements and scammers and people who "know what they got".
YesHaveSome77@reddit
I keep my FB for Messenger, because I have out of state/country friends I keep up with, but it is deactivated and stays that way for ~90% of the time.
Ok_Schedule5017@reddit
I use it just to look at certain groups. I really post. Last time I did, I posted that if you were friends with me because you felt obligated, please delete me. I don’t think anyone unfriended me but they should have. I delete someone off at least once a week.
CyberCrud@reddit
Nobody has ever changed anyone else's mind on social media. You're not going to be the first.
Misfit_Aquaintance@reddit
Facebook is a cesspit. Kill your account and you'll feel so much better.
BlatantEgg4314@reddit
I went silent on FB in 2019 and just lurked, not posting, commenting, or reacting. I completely exited early this year and dropped IG. Reddit is all I use.
Between the BS, the metastasizing ads, and the rage, I was glad to exit. No longer giving Meta data to harvest and sell was an added bonus. Now I just use reddit and post to my own blogs.
So much more serenity.
First_Name_Is_Agent@reddit
I unfriended the loonies, but then ditched FB when I saw just how many people on my friend list were "performance liberals"™️. It's been a couple years and I really don't miss it.
RedditWidow@reddit
I'm technically still on FB but the only time I use it is to check in with a few family members who don't use any other social media. I don't read the feed and years ago I unfriended anyone who isn't family or I don't see IRL.
wrenchedups@reddit
I ended my Facebook account last year.
I signed up with a pseudonym this year with no friends. I never post anything. But I like the marketplace and community pages. It confuses the algorithm.
PerpetualRestart@reddit
I deleted all of my social media and it's been almost 10 years since I stopped speaking to my family. I did get on this app which sometimes I regret. I do like how I can control more what I see and not just rage bait like the other apps. I have had no regrets about getting rid of all the other social media. It was just something that wasted my time and barely showed me anything I was actually interested in. I've gotten out more and joined more Meetup groups to actually engage with REAL people.
airbag11@reddit
10 years actually 11 not speaking to my family as well. Whole new world!
om_hi@reddit
I haven't used Facebook in 10 years. Only reason I have it is because my kid's school insists on posting shit there. Not that I ever think to check. I don't engage with any posts there though.
lovegood123@reddit
I ignore it. There’s no reasoning with most people so why waste my energy.
liddybuckfan@reddit
I'm basically just on Facebook for a couple of groups that I can't convince to move elsewhere. My main feed is mostly AI crap/clickbait. The comments sections are bonkers.
TripMaster478@reddit
Getting off of FB for the most part / blocking and unfriending. Life's too short.
Tangerine1941@reddit
Deleted it and IG too in January. Don't miss how angry (FB) or ugly (IG) they made me feel.
I like the anonymity and the real discussions here.
Puzzlehead536@reddit
I haven’t used Facebook in about six years. Since COVID actually. I just did not like becoming friends with everyone but never actually speaking to these people in daily life. I don’t like to post pictures because frankly it’s nobody’s business what I do. And the family members I did have were only a constant reminder to me that I did not grow up with my father but he had a whole other family on Facebook and it just was not a good experience for me. So, I don’t need it I. My life. I like Tik Tok, instagram and this platform.
Queasy-Extension6465@reddit
I logged off of FB a few years ago. I didn't delete my account as I have older relatives that don't text but they do use FB and Messenger. You can't message if you delete FB.
OreoSpeedwaggon@reddit
I quit using FB for anything but business-related reasons years ago, and now I don't even use it for business either. My account is private to only myself, and I only keep it active because it functions like free cloud storage for things I've posted on there over the years. Aside from that, I find it completely useless.
AZPeakBagger@reddit
I'm at the point of my life that if someone swears the 2+2=5 and they are firmly convinced, I'll just let it slide. Don't have it in me to get riled up about other people's opinions or politics.
WishboneNo2829@reddit
I have fb but I haven't been on it that much for a few years. Mainly keep it to stay in contact with older family members.
BerryLanky@reddit
Back in 2020 I began unfriending people if I found myself getting angry with what they posted. I don’t need unnecessary drama in my life. I use FB for collectible sites. Have a few friends and family but I keep in touch with the important people in real life.
TheJokersChild@reddit
"Hide All From." Super-powerful tool. I still see the friends, but not the posts they share or the pages they're from. I even hide reels and videos.
And facebook is quite enough. No desire to wade into the InstaToks.
nonotburton@reddit (OP)
Yes, FB and Reddit are my only socials, and I'm very seriously looking at trimming back my FB.
Spiritual_Parfait_94@reddit
I only use it for marketplace. It’s a cesspool of negativity that is not great for my mental health.
Itchy_Undertow-1@reddit
Get off Facebook. You’ll thank yourself.
Komaisnotsalty@reddit
I haven't been on Boomerbook/Crackbook in at least 10 years.
I do have a fake profile (fake name, no friends, no connections, no posts) just for selling/buying on Marketplace, etc., but other than Reddit, I don't use social media of any kind anymore.
It doesn't accomplish a thing and no one fact checks. At least on Reddit, people call you out on bullshit.
Geniusinternetguy@reddit
I’m the same.
Pretty-Care-7811@reddit
Yup. I've been flirting with deleting Facebook, but I just have it deactivated for now. It's a cesspool of misinformation and confidently ignorant bullshit. I was on Quora for years, but it's just as terrible now. Just on Reddit these days.
Legitimate_Ocelot491@reddit
Same. My sister sends me shit from FB via text. I have to constantly remind her that I don’t do that site anymore and to just give me the highlights. I still have my accounts but I never login.
NoMayoForReal@reddit
I just unfollow people that I have counter views with so if I hear something super crazy about them I can still check it out. But basically I only use FB for keeping in touch with out-of-state friends and family, kids, life events, etc. My local HOA community group is a hoot as I’m in Florida and every hates their HOAs.
nonotburton@reddit (OP)
Yeah, one of the things I'm also concerned about is closing myself off to people who have different opinions. But so many of these opinions are .. not based in reality.
VLR_I@reddit
I joined Facebook because the mine group I was in used it for communication. Then I started adding family and known people. I still know personally every friend on FB. I use it to keep up with friends and family across the country and the local groups I'm a member. Scrolling sucks. My groups are are good. This platform is the most social-with-strangers- I've ever been. Kind of weirds me out, but is fun.
DrGoManGo@reddit
Facebook is shit. I deleted my account years ago but reopened it after my grandma died to be in touch with family. Pretty much every clip is stupid and the comments are the worse. It's a waste of time to browse it. I really only open it for marketplace. Just ignore the stupidity, there is enough stupid where I live, I really don't need more.
Visible_Structure483@reddit
I never understood the appeal of 'friends' that you aren't really friends with. If someone is annoying, just stop paying attention to them. Works in real life just as on FB or here or anywhere else.
Half my family are royal dorkbags and I don't associate with them at all online or in reality. Being related isn't a license to force me into paying attention to your nonsense.
I have had good luck buying and selling on marketplace though which is why I have a FB account in the first place. Wouldn't give that up.
nonotburton@reddit (OP)
So, a segment of my FB friend collection is folks infused go to school with, or ho to church with. A few of them are at least peripherally in my life. They're really only weird on FB. Which is why I'm a boy conflicted on the whole thing. I do like seeing about their kids and whatnot.
Determinedpony@reddit
Deleted my FB account in 2025 and ain’t ever looked back. Lost a lot of photos though, but I don’t miss it.
FUWS@reddit
Simply leave the site…. It’s not that hard unless your subconscious wants you make a reddit post to have reasons to stay on so you can keep the dopamine coming.
All the FB, Instagram, X, TikTok can go away right now and I’d have no issues with it. Even if it’s reddit.
nonotburton@reddit (OP)
Yeah, for the longest time I was only there for birthday and anniversary stuff. I think I accidentally got sucked in.
FUWS@reddit
It’s easy to get sucked in as we all are vulnerable to this kind of stuff… I just simply did not participate and that may have been the key for me…reason I’m on reddit is most of my google searches eventually lead me to a reddit post..Kinda , cant beat’em, Join ‘em kinda thing.

I mostly stay off of the book, unless it’s to catch up with family goings on. I’m lucky to not have insane family members.
Junior_Lavishness_96@reddit
I’ve only been on Facebook a few times in the last 10 years. Lately my dad kinda guilt trips me for not going on there, he posts usually a few times a week but he overshares.
LimpTax5302@reddit
That’s weird I felt like Reddit was worse for the political slinging and name calling. About two weeks ago I figured out how to block almost everything so that I only see this feed and a hobby and career feed. I used to post a lot of political crap but found it isolated people, and it certainly doesn’t change anyone’s views. I quit caring some time after writing a state senator urging her to vote against something. Her reply was she would do what she thought was best. I guess that was the moment I realized they stopped representing us a long time ago. I still vote but don’t really feel it matters anymore. My life is much more peaceful not following politics.
Patient_Character730@reddit
I just stopped going on Facebook. It was hard, I was clearly addicted, but after two weeks that automatic desire to open up Facebook is pretty much gone. I did it for my mental health, I just couldn't keep reading the garbage from family and friends.
First-Ad-7960@reddit
About twice a month I think "what is up with so-and-so?" and I look them up on Facebook, read a few posts, and then leave again.
iamnotyounorwouldili@reddit
I thought reddit was a cesspool. Compared to facebook, its a refreshing glass of the cleanest water. Facebook is just a repository of political lunacy and anti science fear mongering. The world would quite literally be a better place without its bullshit.

squarebody8675@reddit
I’ve never had a facebook account.
cvaldez74@reddit
I gave up Facebook a month or two ago and it’s honestly been downright blissful.
SpankyDammit@reddit
I quit FB several years ago due to all the bs posts. Don’t need drama anymore, just want to relax and focus on clearing my own.
Agent7619@reddit
FB is cancer
Fuck cancer
SpaceJunkie828@reddit
Deleted my profile in 2004. Deleted news apps in 2021. Life is better.
GarthRanzz@reddit
Never been on Facebook and never will be. It is for crackpots, conspiracy idiots and outright blatant lies. But so is all social media anymore.
FreeElleGee@reddit
Roll my eyes and scroll on. I’m only on it so I don’t have to call my relatives.
TravelerMSY@reddit
Give a a chance to take it down if it’s factually incorrect. If they double down on it- they’re getting unfriended.
RCA2CE@reddit
So the funniest thing is that everyone claims they don’t use Facebook but everyone uses Facebook
Like 80% of America regularly used Facebook and nobody admits it
I stick to content related to food, the dog, working out, and vacations - if it’s outside of that I generally don’t
This-Cartoonist9129@reddit
Facebook is poison
Working_Farmer9723@reddit
Got off fb 10 years ago. Now only on to engage with HOA and daughters college, and that’s a stretch. Elect me dictator and I will implement a minimum age of 25 for social media and a licensing test.
DPax_23@reddit
I deleted FB about 1 year into covid because everyone was annoying AF. Great decision.
wanderlust_2x1@reddit
I left. Closed my account and never looked back.
Noshade_allgay@reddit
I gave up and deleted it. Now I scroll on Instagram lol
Miserable_Jacket_129@reddit
Same here. I can follow people who share interests without having to pretend I care about Vicky from 11th grade.
JJQuantum@reddit
I made counter points when I was on there because, though the posted may not be swayed, someone else might or at least not be swayed in the wrong direction. I left when they decided to drop their bullshit monitors.
WhaleFartingFun@reddit
I bailed on FB back when Tinyhands McFuckface got elected the first time. Best decision I ever made. It’s a mental mindfuck based on a billionaire’s fucking desire to control the world through “influence”.
I am on IG which is still owned by the asshat, but it’s to stay in touch with my international peeps.
Zooter88@reddit
I left Facebook about 8 years ago and haven’t looked back.
NoNamesLeft600@reddit
Left FB about 4 years ago. I'll never go back.
surfoxy@reddit
Got tired of it 10 years ago and deleted Facebook. Never missed it, never looked back.
Owlhead326@reddit
I post jokes, sports, or music. Nothing of my real life. I’m sick of those vampires selling my info so more vampires can send the right ads. So very sick of it all
dbrmn73@reddit
Got off Farcebook over 10 years ago and never looked back.
libbyb99@reddit
I post links to fact checked refutations without comment.
DOW_mauao@reddit
I'm only on there for friends and older family and a couple of hobby/interest groups. Probably check in on FB maybe once a week.
I-used2B-a-Valkyrie@reddit
I limit my FB circle to very close friends and I mute anyone who posts dumb crap.
Repulsive-Tea6974@reddit
I bailed on FB right around Lockdown. I started feeling grossed out by FB around 2014…., learning about my ”online” friends in my preferred hobby. Conspiracy theorists everywhere. One of the many, many straws was when a guy our age said “Cut onions left overnight become highly poisonous due to bacteria. DUE NOT EAT.
sunfish99@reddit
I don't engage people on such posts any more. About the only thing I do on FB these days is related to closed hobbyist groups where politics is verboten.
To be clear - I stopped posting much some time ago, partly because I have a side gig in education and don't need someone blowing a gasket over my expressing an opinion that the youth may discover. More recently, I have a fed-adjacent job PT that's keeping me afloat, and I don't want to attract attention that can jeopardize that.
nonotburton@reddit (OP)
Yeah, I don't actually post much except for family related things (birthdays, anniversaries, that sort of thing).
I too have work sensitivities that I don't want to upset.
ifulbd@reddit
Left Facebook in 2016 because MIL kept posting aggressively bad anti Hillary stuff. Reddit is my only social media.
willingzenith@reddit
Logged off and deleted my FB account shortly after the first time dozy don was elected.
renegade7717@reddit
what’s facebook? 😂😂
Entire-Order3464@reddit
Depends what it is. Something's we can agree to disagree over like pizza topping choices. Some things I'm not just gonna look the other way, like when you try to say so and so doesn't have rights or isn't a person. Over the years I've unfriended a lot of morons.
ACorania@reddit
Got off before COVID... Life is better
Dogstar_9@reddit
I find myself spending Very little time on FB these days.
It's mostly advertisements, sponsored garbage, and AI generated crap. The few friends' posts that make it into my feed are mostly political garbage I have no interest in.
