Hello everyone, well I'll be direct, i wanna make my first project from scratch, I'm gonna use the chassis and engine of a car and I wanted to make the body and everything else out of fiberglass, but I don't even know where to start, I'm really just starting with this idea, I wanna make the Jewels Mustang GT from the game Need For Speed Most Wanted, i know it's a weird option to choose but I'm really fan of this game and this car since i was a kid, so does anyone have any idea how can i learn and start? If you wanna know I'll use the chassis of Chevrolet Omega for this project.

Even if getting a mustang GT is difficult in your country it will almost certainly be simpler and easier to fly to the US, buy a car, and then have it shipped to your country. What you are proposing is nearly impossible. If you want to get started building custom cars, I would choose a platform that is widely and cheaply available near you and start with that, such as a Honda Civic.

I mean, i could, but i would be the same price as a new one here, i know that looks weird but here's Brazil, the thing is, if i go to the US and buy one, it would get lots of taxes and get the price from here, I'll give an example:
A car from 9.000,00 dollars would be 48.900,00 it will get lots of taxes and i know that is unbelievable but it would easily get around 400.000,00 or 500.000,00, not kidding, and like our salary is per month you know? And the average salary here is 3.000,00, like, bro my government sucks, really.

I assure you building an ersatz mustang from scratch will not be cheaper

Of course not, but that's more likely than buying one here haha
Probably I'll just give up and make a project on a Chevrolet Opala SS or something

Also the Chevrolet omega is a unibody car I'm pretty sure so it's really wouldn't work. Yes I'd recommend that.

Yeah, we have these ones, but maybe they are different here from there

Well then if you could get a chassis from a two door fox body that's legally registered in your country, you could then import an sn95 mustang body and fairly easily install it on the chassis. It wouldn't be the exact same generation, and well still an expensive and difficult project, it would be somewhat viable.

That's a pretty interesting idea actually

Wait are you talking about Ford? Because if you are then we don't have any haha, we have those weird Volkswagen Fox hahaha

Find guys like Tofu Autoworks and Industry Garage who post a lot on how to make composite body panels from scratch. They also have YouTube channels.
Super Fast Matt is also good to watch for his land speed car.

The most expensive red hat ever...
juwyro@reddit
I feel plenty of actual red hats have lost more than Matt's car is worth
But he does have the only acceptable red hat besides sports.

why would you not just modify a ford?
This is another pipe dream thats going to go nowhere if you cant be bothered to even look at how people already do such projects. The internet is full of resources

I could do that, but the thing is, in my country we don't have mustangs and the ones we have are the same price as a Lamborghini for the USA, and actually Ford stopped their cars in my country in 2018, which makes me sad because my 1° car was a Ford 2011.

Learn to make fiberglass panels as a start. Just start making stuff for a while to get the hang of it. You probably have a solid amount of fab ahead of you too so start practicing before getting at the car.

Would that help if i just get this Chevrolet Omega and try to make a whole body kit for that? As training i mean, then I could enjoy this car before using it for the main project. Do you think that's a good idea?
