[Rifle] FN SCAR 17S NRCH 7.62 20RD FDE $3599 in stock the last batch
Posted by Ok_Intention8721@reddit | gundeals | View on Reddit | 114 comments
The last batch of FN scar 17 NRCH, in stock and ships immediately. the very last batch we get from FN.
chawa4@reddit
No knock to dealer but an already over priced gun gets more over priced when they get discontinued. What a world we live in
Ricochet1266@reddit
HK is way more overpriced lmao
TabooPineapple@reddit
Not saying the scar is priced fairly, but it’s always weird to me how caught up on the price people on here get compared to posts with $5000 hk or KAC generic looking AR-10s that only gun nerds can identify. At least the scar looks cool af
AssaultPlazma@reddit
In no way is the SCAR “fairly priced”. There is nothing unique or special about it that lends itself to the price point.
MadMaxMercer@reddit
A 7lb, sub-moa, foldable stock battle rifle isn't unique? The battlefield LV rental went almost 80k rounds and only needed a new hammer, springs, and barrel as well... (https://www.fnforum.net/threads/scar-high-round-count-durability-tested.89425/)
AssaultPlazma@reddit
No because it's a polymer lower receiver with extruded aluminum upper receiver, sporting an AR-18 action. The gun from a manufacturing standpoint is literally designed to be easy and cheap to produce at scale...
MadMaxMercer@reddit
Remind me, what other piston driven, light weight, reliable, sub moa battle rifles are on the market right now? If its so cheap and easy to make, why aren't their more competitors?
indianatoby@reddit
Jakyl
MadMaxMercer@reddit
I said competitors, not cheap imitations lol. PSA is trash tier, this is a discussion about quality firearms.
TabooPineapple@reddit
literally the first line bro: “Not saying the scar is priced fairly”
AssaultPlazma@reddit
You right man
IDK how I read that wrong…
bubbathedesigner@reddit
Beer and Coffee: too much or not enough of either
Ricochet1266@reddit
I agree with you.
Narcofeels@reddit
Absolutely knocking the dealer. Jacking the price of a gun that ceased production due to overpricing in a time where people have even less disposable income than recent years takes insanely mental gymnastics
Foxxy__Cleopatra@reddit
Lmao how? This is just basic supply and demand, but it's somehow the dealer's fault people have less disposable income to drop on a $4,239.00 MSRP battle rifle? We're not exactly talking about the price of gas or a gallon of milk here. I guess we should also be up in arms about the rising prices of Lamborghini Diablo's or dangerous game African hunting excursions too.
Narcofeels@reddit
Maybe you should understand supply and demand before talking about it?
If the demand is lower than the supply the price goes down
If the demand goes down too far they stop producing
Going the opposite direction of rapidly falling demand is as stupid as your analogy
Foxxy__Cleopatra@reddit
Except that demand has raised since everyone is panic buying the now discontinued product? Love the irony of your comment though.
homeslicecaptain@reddit
Ironic that he's telling other people to understand supply and demand before talking about it, and then making an emotional appeal to people's disposable income (supply and demand doesn't care about your feels) for a purchase that isn't made at the economic margins. Reddit economics 101. But yes, this is a FOMO purchase and I'm seriously considering it on that basis.
Foxxy__Cleopatra@reddit
Irony on multiple levels.
"The dealer is taking advantage of people!"
>It's a fucking FN product, they absolutely hate civilians.
Arctic_Scrap@reddit
Reminds me of the ARX100. Beretta could barely give them away and then discontinued it and then they went up in price.
_556Gunner@reddit
Yup. I snagged one for $700. I remember them being around that before. They discontinued and now are going for 2x that
Mighty-Bagel-Calves@reddit
But not by very much.
Cool-Tip8804@reddit
They styled down for a bit. Sold for 1400 at some retailer prices. Street price for a pre owned one was around that too. But I did see them sit for a while before people reduced their prices a bit.
ShittyTechnical@reddit
Just wait for the people panic buying them now to sell them at a loss in 1-2 years. The Scar 17 isn’t worth more than $3000.
Jason1435@reddit
The scar 17 wasn't worth more than $1800 tbh.
VauItDweIler@reddit
That is almost never how it works when a rifle is out of production, especially with pop culture significance.
The Belgian Scars will always command a higher premium, but the 17 in general is never going down. That's a story I've heard tons of times that pretty much never comes true.
Cool-Tip8804@reddit
If you look at what they sell for right now, it says they sell for the exact same price as non Belgium ones.
VauItDweIler@reddit
Belgian guns already sell less often and move faster amongst military collectors and import collectors (such as myself). Guns that fill that niche never never never go down, and the more "authentic" they are the more collectable they become.
There's enough SCARs in circulation that it will take a long time to truly be a collectable, but common guns still eventually reach that point (hello Mak90 and Saiga).
I can promise you that the Belgian rollmark will command a premium one day.
Cool-Tip8804@reddit
That’s a hard if for me.
But currently they sell for the same price as any.
VauItDweIler@reddit
There's no if about it brochacho. I don't even say that with a stake in the game, as I neither own one nor am in the market for one, at least not now.
I can tell you with 100% consistency that military imports become collectables as soon as they are gone. Every, single, time. Sometimes immediately, sometimes after a decade.
Made in Belgium with the old school reciprocating charging handle will be more desirable in ten years.
I can tell you already that were I actually in the market for a SCAR I'd be willing to shell out an extra grand for a NIB Belgian, without hesitation. Maybe one day.
Cool-Tip8804@reddit
I recently saw an FS2000 sell for 2400 with an orginal integrated mount, spare barrel and parts, and Tri rail in box.
Yeah that’s a big if.
VauItDweIler@reddit
That's a great deal that's hardly hardly standard.
But there's no point in arguing about it. If you're hoping they go down then best of luck to you.
Won't happen though, never does. Remind me in ten years if you want.
BitterDone@reddit
Remindme! 10 years
Cool-Tip8804@reddit
Not really what I said.
Any discontinued line typically goes up in price at a street value. But that’s hardly the topic either.
VauItDweIler@reddit
I genuinely have no idea what the point of this little purse swinging match is or what you're on about then.
Cool-Tip8804@reddit
That they always commend a premium. Currently Belgians on used markets right now that don’t.
That they won’t commend a premium even after they’re discontinued.
VauItDweIler@reddit
Well in ten years we can reconvene without continuing to shit up this thread.
Cool-Tip8804@reddit
Moving goal posts isn’t what I typically both engaging in.
VauItDweIler@reddit
That's nice.
chuckisduck@reddit
I would but that in a heartbeat, sadly one of the guns I never got and the state went AWB
ShittyTechnical@reddit
The only people actually convinced Belgian scars are worth more are people that only own Belgian scars. Nothing online shows that to be generally true that they actually go for more money.
VauItDweIler@reddit
Like I told the other guy give it ten years.
You don't have to like it or agree with it but there are entire niches of collectors that focus on imports, Made in Belgium will become more desirable. Doesn't mean it'll be 10k more, but it will be more.
Look at Augs. Little different because the Austrian guns are prebans but it's the same concept. The Austrian guns are more expensive and much more collectable than the US made versions. The same thing will happen if the Daewoos that keep getting teased make it.
And purse swinging regarding imports aside, the main point still stands: these guns ain't going down. D/C'd imports never do. If you really want an egregious example there are stamped 5.45 Arsenal AKs that move for 4k now that we're only 1k once upon it a time. That 3k number is never happening for the SCAR 17, and most definitely not for Belgian ones.
ShittyTechnical@reddit
You can give it all of the years you want. The internet is filled with listings of BELGIAN SCAR - RARE and they never go for more money than the NRCHs because no one cares. They’re the same gun and people just try to make themselves seem different and special.
VauItDweIler@reddit
The internet is currently a buyer's market where hardly anything is moving because the economy sucks, when it's a seller's market again you'll see different. When it's a seller's market a decade down the road after the SCARs have completely dried up you'll see very different.
Correct, and also guilty.
I swear this entire sub is completely clueless the second it goes beyond Gucci AR parts and polymer handguns.
ShittyTechnical@reddit
It’s been that way for years, this isn’t a now thing. It’s weird that you’re so insistent about this not being the case when it is and then go on to call other people clueless.
VauItDweIler@reddit
Yes, it is and has been. That doesn't change the point that it won't be forever.
All I've said is that these guns a) aren't going down in price and it's silly to assume they will and b) the imported versions are especially not going down in the long term. That's it.
I'm sorry that wads your panties up.
ShittyTechnical@reddit
The only person who seems to be upset here is you. You’re getting offended people are telling you that you’re wrong and the market has shown what you’re saying to be false. Will the price of the gun go up due to inflation, yes. Will people, as they always have, try to get more money for arbitrary things no one actually cares about? Of course. But that doesn’t mean people are buying it at what they’re asking for it.
VauItDweIler@reddit
I don't get offended by silly internet spats. I disagreed with your top comment, still do and have stuck to that. No one forced you and the other guy to huff and puff and turn it into purse swinging.
You can have the final word if that's important to you but I'm thoroughly bored with this at this point. Time will tell in the end so feel free to tag me in a decade if I'm wrong and we both still happen to be on this silly website.
ShittyTechnical@reddit
Considering that you keep making poor attempts at insulting me for disagreeing with you I’m not really sure that you should be telling anyone you’re not offended. I’m not sure why else anyone would attempt such a thing besides getting upset over nothing. The point is historically what you’re saying hasn’t been true and more than likely won’t be. It’s fine that you disagree with that, it’s just not a position based on logic or evidence.
DugnutttBobson@reddit
Wish FS2000 would get cheap
cuddly_degenerate@reddit
I mean, it's all collector value, right? There are several superior platforms we can buy for 1k-1500.
ShittyTechnical@reddit
I think in the sub 3k category that they’re one of the best options. I love mine, I just wouldn’t have paid more than what I did for it. Also people buying guns for collectors value are dumb and are just losing money.
cuddly_degenerate@reddit
I guess I should say collector/fun.
For practicality against people I would rather have an AK or an AR, and for hunting a bolt action.
So that leaves sport/fun, it at that point we need to admit that we're mostly doing it because it's cool.
ShittyTechnical@reddit
What you’re saying has nothing to do with what’s being discussed. The gun is great, it’s just not worth more than 3k. Anyone buying it for a collection or as a collectors piece is dumb. Paying more than 3k for is is dumb.
Superfluous_Thought@reddit
I dont know its pretty hard to find a nice reliable durable 308 rifle with that weight even if it is overpriced.
Z_0_Sick@reddit
Isn’t worth more than 2k
mojobolt@reddit
2500 and then I might be interested
ItsRickySpanish@reddit
It was coming close to 2700 for a minute there, and then they had to go and ruin it.
I wanted one pretty bad, but ended up snagging a mr556a4 instead
chawa4@reddit
for 2k i think these might actually become relevant again but anything above 2k im buying an hk
mmiski@reddit
I say this as an HK fanboy and r/USPMasterRace member, but paying $2k+ for an MR556 or MR762 without chrome-lined barrel is insanity to me. Don't care how much of a lifetime warranty they slap on the thing, the price should reflect the features included (or lack thereof in this case). Maybe if HK USA ever manages to find a way to bring the HK243 S SAR into the US market unmolested, then I can see justifying the standard HK tax price. But until then they can pound sand.
LilFuniAZNBoi@reddit
I mean I just sold a BCM I had lying around so I can have the funds to buy that $4900 HK MR223A3 from ArmsUnlimited so I can make an A5 clone.
AshantiMcnasti@reddit
Maybe im weird, but at that price point, i wouls get B&T apc308
SubstantialAd1586@reddit
People pay $3500+ for KAC SR-15, which is nowhere near as unique as the SCAR platform and got outperformed by Aero in meltdown test. So SCAR is definitely worth $3000+ given its iconic status and its price will continue to rise because this gun is desirable.
chawa4@reddit
huge
Top-BrilliantOps@reddit
Why does is say FDE in title and link takes you to black?
Ok_Intention8721@reddit (OP)
Sincerely apologize it was a typo
Top-BrilliantOps@reddit
Haha all good! Either way pretty good deal. I can’t tell if I should get this or wait for FN to drop a new variant next year
Sharp-Cherry-3548@reddit
They were just running a deal on PSA for $3300. These were $2799 last Black Friday too.
u53rn4am3@reddit
$3400 at other dealers right now too
Flossy_Jay@reddit
A lot of things were 15% cheaper last Black Friday
peeonadesi@reddit
Have 3 scars 15 (556) 16s 17s ... sold the 16...missed it, bought it again....sold the missed it, bought it again...I recently sold the 15p as I was gonna get the 300blk version and already miss it. I have a lot of high end guns and buy/sell quite a bit. Scars are the only gun I miss and buy again. One thing to point out, these hold value very well. I sold the 15p for $900 more than I paid. Everything sold within a day or 2. In this market, I could easily sell my 16 and 17 1k over I paid for ea of them.
w204@reddit
Don’t let the haters who don’t own one or afford one naysay you, the SCAR 17S is an amazing platform.
BUTTHOLE_EXPEDITIONS@reddit
The SCAR is amazing! No other modern manufactured rifle can break “unbreakable” optics like the SCAR can. Truly a wonder.
MadMaxMercer@reddit
Amazing, I own 3 SCARs (16/17/20) and I've never broken an optic, even my bargain bin viper pst happily survived 4k rounds on my 17. Truly a wonder indeed!
chuckisduck@reddit
Have a pst gen 2 on my 20, only 1k rounds but no issues with the optic. I think it's only a problem with people getting rid of the plastic ugg boot.
Flossy_Jay@reddit
It's usually the people without a scar that cry about their imaginary broken optics
ThirdRamon@reddit
No no, you don’t understand. The internet hive mind of people who have never shot a SCAR are right.
Cool-Tip8804@reddit
Id personally classify it as a higher risk at this point instead of any certainty.
I keep seeing people run cheap optics with cheap mounts without any problems.
Wild_Dingleberries@reddit
Good platform. Not worth $3600.
Flossy_Jay@reddit
No but as a life long collection piece and fun on the farm it was worth every penny of 3k
BiggyIrons@reddit
Yeah if you got one for under 3k its great. My 16 and 17 are my favorite guns
w204@reddit
Definitely not worth 3600, especially in black. But definitely worth 2700 when I picked mine up a few years ago.
gun_runna@reddit
I wouldn’t buy an AK held together with screws so idk why you’d spend 3k on a gun that is. Seems odd to me to call any naysayer poor. Maybe scar owners are just regarded.
Cool-Tip8804@reddit
Having held other 308 guns. This is the lightest of them all. That part becomes obvious.
To be that light, recoil the way it does, and be THAT accurate makes it pretty top tier.
DiscombobulatedDunce@reddit
Yeah like, people who shit on the SCAR I feel like have never shot one in the basic ass stock config vs something like an AR10.
It's kinda night and day, it doesn't recoil much, is like 7.5 pounds, and pretty accurate before the barrel heats up, trigger is a clean single stage with like a 5 pound wall.
I reliably print this at 100 yards with off the shelf hornady a-max ammo https://i.imgur.com/k1DZrbH.png
I also don't think it's worth 3600 but I bought in at like 2700 and it's an amazing gun, even stock.
MadMaxMercer@reddit
Nah, you just sound like a guy who doesn't know what he's talking about lol. The FA 16 the BFLV rents out went 90k rounds with no component failures.
Fearless-Jeweler-318@reddit
worth half that at best
someperson1423@reddit
Who let the unwashed rabble in here?
J4R131@reddit
This or DSA Fal?
someperson1423@reddit
If you like FALs, DSA. If you like reliable guns, the SCAR. If you like your wallet, neither.
InternationalIdea365@reddit
I look at mine as an investment. The price is 100% going to go higher once you won't be able to buy one from the manufacturer. Don't believe these guys. They dont understand simple economics.
Cool-Tip8804@reddit
I think they’ll go higher. But I don’t think by much. There’s a lot of them out there.
abominalsnowman94@reddit
I got mine for 2k, only reason I own a scar.
FlyingYankee118@reddit
How?
abominalsnowman94@reddit
I bought a 17 dmr version in 6.5. I don’t think it’s an overly desirable model of it so a dealer blew out their inventory. Wasn’t my first pick, but for the price I took it
w204@reddit
It was a very undesirable model but one of the best. My DMR is a tackdriver.
weatherbys@reddit
That’s the best model. Factory Geissele trigger and SSR stock plus I shoot mine out to 1,000 yards regularly and have killed deer with it also. Fantastic guns.
Y1NGER@reddit
taking a deer with a scar is such a baller move
weatherbys@reddit
10 round mag and an LPVO and you are in business!
https://imgur.com/a/HSPAnOR
Y1NGER@reddit
hell yeah! nice work man
weatherbys@reddit
Same, bought my 17DMR for $2400 on here and then bought my 15p on here for $1499. No ragrets, love them both.
Sharp-Cherry-3548@reddit
Same, mine is a 16s but Belgium so it should hold its value.
Grand_Cookie@reddit
3 sentences total and you manage to throw “last batch” in each of them.
Jbarney3699@reddit
Scar is like a $2500-$3000 gun at most. I’ll snag a used one in a few years when people have their fun breaking them in.
Ricerooni@reddit
I'm just saying, I love my Scar 17 but if I had to buy it for anything over 3k hell nah.
Out of the box, I'd probably recommend the discarder and the geissele trigger.
Fair warning, that brake will concuss the fuck out of anyone on the side of you.
cattywampus42@reddit
This breaks my heart
Callsign_Poopjeet@reddit
Not worth $3600 by any means. And this is coming from someone who owns two SCARs.
etavan@reddit
I'm gonna wait for buy one for $2000 next month when the FOMO peeps can't afford the credit card payments
salem_lakes_armory@reddit
This is da wey
Wunktacular@reddit
These are going to be remembered as awkwardly large and heavy for what they delivered. And the SEAL thing.
The SCAR name would've gone to Colt if they'd found the time to enter.
Maleficent_Primary89@reddit
So, it's basically the MK23.
w204@reddit
Awkwardly large and HEAVY?
Ok bud. They’re consistently lighter than an AR-10 and among the lightest 308 battle rifles there is.
