Probably the stupidest thing I’ve had the pleasure of witnessing.

Cement truck lost load right in front of me. They were going 75 downhill and somehow were surprised by traffic slowing down in the same spot traffic is always slowing down on I-15. Bonus points they just kept driving as though nothing happened. All that cement spewing over the side of the truck looked pretty, though.
I thought hauling cement, you’d get specific training on how to not resurface the freeways, but here we are. This was 100% preventable. Stay safe out there, guys. Being late might be costly, but rushing can be expensive.

How did you take the photo? Who was driving op?
Quynn_Stormcloud@reddit (OP)
Siri took it.
samuelrooster@reddit
Concrete* not cement which is an ingredient in concrete. Also as someone who used to haul concrete, that is 100% an overloaded truck. That’s the only time that ever happens.
fusillijhericurl@reddit
Mightve gotten loaded on top of.

There isn’t a cement truck in either picture. However there is a concrete truck. Cement trucks are usually semi tanker trucks that haul the cement powder to designated concrete manufacturing facilities. Cement is the binding agent required to make concrete and comes in powder form. The three main and usual ingredients in concrete are cement, aggregates and water. Concrete is what’s inside a concrete truck as represented in the photo submitted.

I love how you are down voted for providing factual information. Goes to show that truckers are idiots and want to stay that way
realityguy1@reddit
Yes, not the most intellectual members of society.

Thank you, Sir Pedantry.
realityguy1@reddit
My duty. It was ironic that the OP stated that it was the “stupidest thing he’d ever seen” and yet didn’t know the difference between a concrete/cement truck. My work here is done.
Due-Technician3715@reddit
That’s actually super common.
Saltysponge@reddit
Thats America Eagle for ya. Not altaview bad but still bad.
silverchevy2011@reddit
Concrete. Cement is an ingredient.
Quynn_Stormcloud@reddit (OP)
Sure is.
SomeDude249@reddit
Side question.
What's up with the weird cement trucks they run in utah?
InvestigatorBroad114@reddit
Front discharge mixers, way better on job sites and the operator doesn’t have to exit the truck. Oshkosh makes them and they’re really cool. Glad I don’t drive one though
Quynn_Stormcloud@reddit (OP)
You talking about the forward-spout ones? I think they have higher capacity than the rear ones, and Utah’s weight restrictions are a per-axle basis, so a bunch of pushers and tags get you more yards of concrete per load. Also we make freaking EVERYTHING out of concrete here.

Traffic always backs up right there on Point of the Mountain because a lot of people wait until the last minute to shoot over multiple lanes to Bangerter Highway.
Quynn_Stormcloud@reddit (OP)
And it gets exacerbated by the guys who stick to the outermost lane not realizing it’s an exit-only at Bangerter.
(Also: Bangerter? I hardly know ‘er!)
AgentOmegaNM@reddit
I get flipped off a lot by cars and sometimes other trucks because I sit in the same lane your photo shows you in because I know those two right lanes are an absolute nightmare with traffic diving in both directions, but I’m not gonna get wrapped up in that when i can stay where I am and not have to deal with it too much until the exit for 72nd, 90th and 215
Quynn_Stormcloud@reddit (OP)
Oh, for sure! Yeah, all through Utah County, I’ll take the fourth lane, it’s pretty consistent through there, but ALL of Salt Lake County has me in the third lane. Forced exits, disappearing lanes, people merging at 40 mph into 70 mph traffic, yeah, I’m not dealing with that.
InvestigatorBroad114@reddit
Yea I hit that traffic too lol I was stuck in that shit at 11:45 this morning and that looks earlier than when I got on. I swear some of these class b drivers just don’t care
Quynn_Stormcloud@reddit (OP)
Yeah happened at 10:20. The slowdown then was because of a rear-ending just around the curve.
InvestigatorBroad114@reddit
I seen that they were loading them up on the wrecker lol
Immo406@reddit
I don’t even live in Utah and even I know traffic always backs up there

God I hate speed bumps 😒
